  • I CANT CLOSE MY MOUTH!!!! I AM LIKE THIS -> :O

    GOD BLESSED YOUR TALEND!

  • It's called having lots of money to pay artist who are masters in their field to do these paintings. It's also having the money for a huge studio to shoot all of this in. I don't care how good you are with the software. If you don't have the money, it will never come close to these!

  • my jaw dropped when i saw taking lives set. WOW

  • very cool

  • song name?

  • The long horned Hellboy at the end was awsome

  • I wish I knew where to study these things for real serious work later on.

  • @ZGediting get the Digital matte painting handbook

  • GENEROUS

  • Very nice video. I kept the sound off - woesn't work. Thanks for the video.

  • they do some of the most insignificant shit that no one would car about.... like changing a door to a window at 3:07

  • what program used?

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome dude

  • good but they should put the "final model" cuz he only show the "low poly" models <.< duh...can see the reall geometry should be amazing

  • @Nekotico actually, with textures and lighting you can turn crap models into amazing scenes, it's all about craming as much as you can in to as little as possible.

  • The movie Wanted ? I need to know if it's out yet ?!? getting abit crazy here, cant find anything..

  • God bless you for uploading this video.

Thank for enlightening us with is, amazing.

i am also learning the art of matte painting and chromo keying. its amazing.

  • Where do i get those green screens with dots?, i'm assuming they use those dots to track the perspective with Mocha?

  • @HBMHD I don't think the big companies use Mocha, but yes that's what they're for. It's actually much easier to track those dots than to try creating the perspective from scratch.

  • 'Wanted' looks epic. Though I can't find out any information on it. Is it not released yet? Cheers

  • 3 idiots going more idiot

  • Wow, I was surprised when I saw the second picture, because that is my college. The painting is also on our website.

  • In the Torque clips, 3:20 and onwards, it seems lik there's being added some kind of depth layer? It makes the whole thing look way more realistic with displaced depth. How in the world is that made?

  • Great Works Mate!

  • Nice reel dude!

  • were do u get this

  • @askskater hatchfx dot com sais it at the end.

  • What the hell is with the music choice?

  • wrong, Maya was used in film first because the film industry standard was Alias / Wavefront back in the SGI days...not because Maya was the most powerful. It took maya a couple iteration after it launched before film started adopting it. Max was picked up by the game industry primarily because of its cost being 4k at the time vs Maya unlimited that was well above 10k at the time.

Plenty of film and games were made with both packages.

  • you see that effect that starts at 1:24 those white lines what is thaT called??

  • @TrEmEnD0132 Those are 3D Wireframes.

  • @TrEmEnD0132 3d camera mapping, most likely done with 3ds max

  • @kisukehc

The Foundry makes a good one called camera tracker. Most 3D camera trackers are expensive as hell.

  • I've gotten pretty good at shooting and editing and am about to start into chroma or green screen effects, and I gotta say, stumbling upon this video is friggin awe inspiring. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank You.

  • very nice reel. when you see how the movies are made. it's worth watching them again.

  • very very good

  • GREAT JOB!

    WATCH MY JOBS!

    - - - RENDERING IMAGINATION - - -

  • @younessama @PahnthomCSB @TheRandomBelgianKid

thanks for the explanation guys. :D

    much appreciate it...

  • i can understand matte painting on a still image.

but how do you do matte paint on animation since there are so many key framing there?

  • @DeeTeeCG Motion tracked.

  • @DeeTeeCG using matchmoving!

  • @DeeTeeCG they do project 2D matte painting in 3D surfaces from the camera ! after doing 2D or 3D tracking but in this videos you saw they use also 3D application for digital environment like Extream Vue ... i hope that help.

  • a clutter of epicness, i bow down to u

  • can you please tell me what software is used to do this stuff?

  • This video is really good!

  • I was surpised at how... "Pro"... The first hellboy original footage looked.

    Great vid!

  • very cool video, ive recently started using Adobe after effects to do simple VFX but i gather you can do shots similar to these using it? i would interested to know what programs they used.

  • @daveexperiment 3D studiomax or 4D cinema for 3Dstuff

  • @sirROBOMAN yeah the 3d was pretty simple in those though you definately make the most of it.

id advise you learn a bit of maya since ur making such top end stuff, it will get you much further and im sure u know its more widely used

  • @sirROBOMAN No, for the 3D (CGI) stuff they used Autodesk Maya, because it's the most powerful 3D modelling program existing in the world, Autodesk 3DS MAX are the second most powerful. Game developers picked up 3DS MAX because it was more functional (meaning that they could create games with interactive displays, quests etc.) and filmmakers picked up Maya because of its INSANE quality :D

  • @sirROBOMAN Maya is used a lot also

  • @daveexperiment and also i am sure they use a program like boujou (a $10,000 program) for the 3D tracking considering all the panning

  • @daveexperiment more like MAYA because all movies are made in MAYA

  • @daveexperiment Correct you, are on the right path. Using the Adobe Suite and your favorite 3D application (Lightwave, Maya, Soft Image C4D) you will be well on your way!

  • @daveexperiment Correct you, are on the right path. Using the Adobe Suite and your favorite 3D application (Lightwave, Maya, Soft Image, C4D, et cetera) you will be well on your way!

  • @daveexperiment I know personally that Maya and 3DS Max was used for most of these movies.

  • which is the most used software to do this matte paintings and compositions??

Nuke, Shake, Flame...there are so many... Damn I gotta stuy this!! :P

  • wow that was awesome...gave me some great ideas...:) thanks for posting this cheers!!

  • a+++++++++++

  • Awesome

  • I knew matte paintings were cool but these are just pure badass. Cheers man.

  • That is just sick. I want to learn how to do all of that!

  • What movie is "Wanted"? Not the one with angelina jolie and morgan freeman im assuming.

  • Hi)))

    Great movie

Can you tell me name of the first song?

  • @ TommyKha

stands also in the description ;)

As i can see it's like a modern version of blace runner, but i was unable to get any further information, not even in wikipedia.

Can you tell me more of this movie please?

    Nice video

  • @zate1982 "Freek" is the name of an infamous music video. The genre is SciFi.
