Dude. What is Ohio State supposed to do? Sit the players that will be playing all year because they are going to wipe the field of Youngstown State?
You have to play starters because they need their reps and experience for the upcomign season, especially when they play USC in 1 week. Just because you are going to beat the shit out of a team, doesnt mean you shoudl sit your starters.
You do that and they are rusty when they play USC. That logic that you said makes absolutely ZERO sense.
You make a good case for players being rusty but teams who are in the top five shouldn't be playing their starters when they don't need them. Ohio ST will be playing Ohio next week and then USC. I'd rather wait until week two to play my starters if I'm Ohio ST. Waiting till week two will help the starters get ready for USC and they wouldn't be risking a chance of injuries.
