@delirous8 .....enjoy your time, now. respect for one another is missing, now. we knew how to de-fuse an explosive moment to the point whereby people didn't pull guns out. yeah, people were packin back then. lotta women too. call a cop or three or 20, before people start shootin. my party, my rules. plus, yall don't know how to have fun without killin each other. too bad, so very, very, sad.
@gghelo no time was never a utopia the 60's and 70's had a lot of violence, racism and corruption but nowadays it has acclerated because of technologly and embracing certain subcultures into mainstream.
Earth Wind and Fire were the real deal baby! They knew what they were doing. They brought us real music! The band, vocalists, lyrics and melodies blended with love and spirituality were like no other! I was 18 when this song came out and it still resonates in me. Philip Bailey was at his best!
I love Earth, Wind, and Fire because they stand for something! There's nothing worse to me than leaving this earth, and not leaving behind some type of impact or legacy for Humanity to remember you by. I'm begging Jesus to help me make a change in people's lives before I leave here......
I'm curious to know what the seven dislikes found problematic with this song. There are too many comments for me to go pouring through, but "Really?" you disliked this song?
yall had the best cars, music, and women! grass was so green then.black people were so beautiful then this was a time when we really looked out for each other. i got the end of it all and im greatfull for that! . god bless these guys!!! This gets so many emotions out of me and I truly remember how my life was when this song came out and the radios in Los Angeles, California; especially on a Sunday Morning going to work and you would hear this and just sing to yourself as you got/get to work and dance down the hallways.
why are young people so strung out on the "illuminati"? "secret" societies dating back thousands of years ago, are not as powerful as they once were. when they were begun, most people were syphillitic, superstitious, idots. the "illuminati" is knowledge and wealth, period!! not something to concern yourself with nowadays.
Hey ppl who don't know...you better know! This music I grew up on & I bought this album when I was 11. I am & still awe of EWF. The greatest R & B Band ever assembled.
OMG !!!!! I'm only 27 but I remeber buying this album just for this one song . mom was a true EARTH, WIND & FIRE FAN me and my 25 yr old brother be on these oldies !!!!

It's incredible that since I've been enlightened to the existence of the "Illuminati" and it's long history(according to conspiracy theorists and other sources)associated with the music industry.that I see the symbolism in many many artists albums and pictures. As a matter of fact,if you look at the majority of EW&F art work, tell me what u SEE! Be it coincidence or not,I see Illuminati symbolism! Right under your nose.
@omiel no no no maurice white is genious he understand those are our symbols and he get the true meaning ok so dont make those assumptions about one of the musical greats do you know how they came up with the name ewf if u knew that then you would know that has nothing to do with no damn illuminati
@omiel Please listen to All About Love, and Maurice will tell you what they were into; the spiritual sciences. No illuminati here my friend, EWF was all about love. "You shall know a tree by the fruit it bears". For all their years you didn't hear EWF lead us toward the path of ignorance, greed, hatred, jealousy or envy. EWF was a blessing for all those who came up in the 70's and 80's, we are only just now beginning to fully appreciate it.
@alsdyall You are so right. I am a child of the sixties went to their concert in San Antonio, Texas in 1975. This song gave me chills when I was listening on an 8 track in the U.S. Army boot camp. When disco came, and later house music, I kind of pushed them aside and didn't really get into the rap scene as it unfolded. However, now I am recording all of their albums and missed them so much more. Their music is universal and eternal. EWF makes music for the Soul and Spirit.
So I imagined my heart with you..See what imagination can do?..Find myself thinking only about you baby..Aint it funny what love can do?.Aint it funny how i feel this way?......Eternal words...They dont write lyrics like this anymore..Maybe LOVE has lost its meaning... Or we have lost the love that lives with in us.....
You can't beat a good araingment. Music students, take note. It's the writing.. stupid. (just kidding, if you're listening to this, you are already doint the right thing)
@hipper44 Technically, they are called African Americans, just like how Asians are technically Asian Americans, Indians are Indian Americans, and whites are European Americans. Native Americans are American Indians.
@hipper44 Don't belittle my ancestors nor the horrendous experiences that brought into reality the off spring you see and experience today. Read why don't you. This was my introduction to the group back when I was a kid. Our library had a record player and had EWF albums. I used to go by every day after school, I was so hooked! Ran into the librarian like 20 years later and she still remembered me doing that like every day ... 40 years later and still hooked!
I have a 16 y/o son and I tell him that not everything was better in the good ol days, but the music definetly was. I feel sorry for him that he missed the 60s and 70s era music, when artists actually sang and played musical instruments. A lot of the stuff today is depressing, violent, profanity laced nonsense. A guy wins a Grammy for a song called F You, enough said.
Absolutely beautiful! This song has always managed to lift my spirits and just regenerate positive energy all around me. A thousand "thank you's" to one of my all time best friends Mo who was the one to turn me on to EW&F back in the day when I was just a young buck! ;-D
@bowwow73 Lol!!! the food was so much better, that we actually ate green onions from the ground, ate cherries off of trees without cleaning (I know that was nasty, but we're still alive) and sipped honey from honeysuckles!!!
Imagine my heart being with you. These words make the true romantic stand up on the inside of me. This is the music that wil break you down in a real way. I miss the groups that brought us to those special places.
Definitely you hit that on the money! Great tune and Meaning, but the ending is it for me. The "IN THE POCKETNESS" from the band. Nice Groove and Harmony(3:37 --on out)
Man! It doesn't get any better than this. When this cut comes on in the ride I can't turn the car off, even if I've arrived at my destination. I just gotta hear Phillip's vamp on the outtro. Classic--they don't make 'em like this no more.
I saw Philip Bailey perform this song in concert. It was the best falsetto performances I have ever heard. I was trying not to cry because I was with my date. When I peaked down my row, THE ENTIRE ROW WAS IN TEARS! What a song! What a voice! What a band!
African americans have lost this art form sad to see truly miss when we would just singggggg wish love would come back to our hearts and not taken as soft to express it!
I'm soooo grateful that my parents taught me what REAL music was, I'm a 70's child, but this music was reinforced throughout me growing up so I would REMEMBER....this song still sends chills up my spine
I'm an Ohioan by geographical association, over the decades this group an I have have traveled the world together and I can tell everyone here what Maurice did is something you can't put into words. I've seen thousands unite under the EWF Banner worldwide. Brothers and sister of the universe celebrating and worshiping God lead by EWF. The Rock&Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland was built in anticipation of EWF's coronation like a throne waiting for it's king to occupy his rightful position.

@bavmo At age 30 there was something beyond any monetary value deposited in you early in life. Passionately cherish what you have and ferociously defend and honor your possessions , you will find as time goes by simple values as the ones you possess are priceless and miss-understood like rocket science to this generation, They can't be bought but were a gift of love linking you to your heritage, pass them along with the same love and spiritual insight
Remember back in 76 how this album just took music to a totally different place. So many days spent looking in both Jet and Right On magazine for news on the new releases!
Oh how I burned out this 8track tape on my 73' Chevy Caprice Classic lowrider back in 1976 cruising Whittier Blvd in East L.A.. Its all like a dream now and so many years have gone bye. How I miss that perfect wonderful time and being a teenager back then. I wouldn't want to be a teen now. The attitude and the music sucks today.
@PeaceandLoveHarmony This is my also my favorite song too. AIN'T IT FUNNY WHAT LOVE CAN DO, IMAGINE THAT WITH THE ONE YOU LOVE. AWESOME MUSIC AND LYRICS!!!!!
If only I had an awesome voice to bring back the music we used to have!!! Gosh now adays people are raping about cars, money, and just plainly disrespecting women THAT ISN'T MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's stop focusing our 'mind' on what we know isn't real music, listen and focus on the real music like " Imagination" and the non-sense will fade away. EARTH,WIND&FIRE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@cedriciongreen right...jazz chords in there all the way if you listen to all their stuff. tight playing, tight and expressive dynamics, various musical influences, true world music. these guys are MUSICIANS not just pop candy. that's why they were the biggest band of their time, people might not know what they're hearing but they can really FEEL it!!!!!!!!
OMG!!! I just figured out what this song is REALLY about: creating your own reality! I'm going out right after work and replace some of my EWF albums!
This sound still sounds brand new! TIMELESS!!! EW&F have left a major mark and influence on the world of music and it's listeners! Sometimes you have to just do it,! They did and look what happened! They have captured us with their gifts!
Goosebumps is right! I've been listening to EW&F all week long. Something drew me to the music I believe because of the message and the musicality is EXCELLENT and RAW!. I love EW&F!
This is their one of their BEST SONGS EVAR! And we all know what happened to the 3 little pigs that didn't like this song, they all lost their Afros and went bald after the 70s!
Imagination what a wonderful song going out to all my EWF they brought me up through life with their melodies and this one top the list other than "Spirit"
To understand music like this you must know the true meaning of love, harmony, and certainly from the old school. Groups like Earth, Wind, and Fire sung songs with meaning and purpose, and it was pure... something we all should be able to relate to.
im 17 and in high school and i listen2 them older ppl look at me like what she kno about this??;)

@trezlorenz - Its funny you mention that, I remember doing the exact same thing! This album was so out of sight!

Listen to Philip Bailey's angelic falsetto on this cut that he, Maurice White & the late Charles Stepney wrote(Charles Stepney arranged this)

To understand music like this you must know the true meaning of love, harmony, and certainly from the old school. Groups like Earth, Wind, and Fire sung songs with meaning and purpose, and it was pure... something we all should be able to relate to.
