you cant judge a song on first listen,i was never fond of any verve album until after a few listens they grow on you,but a storm in heaven is their best work, urban hymns was way too commercial, though its still great.
I'll give it a chance on record but there's nothing Verve in this to me... I'm not refering to the lack of strings or acoustic balladry... I'm a fan of all Verve eras.... I suppose its only one song... Although between this and the jam NME released I'm not holding up much hope for another storm.... It just doesn't flow right.
To me, it's like the jamming of 'Storm' crossed "Northern Soul"s ferocity. So it's a better fit with the back catalog than "Urban Hymns" -- and that's fine. I love the Eastern tuning (a souvenir from Nick's time in Spain maybe?)and the tight rhythm section. Let's face it, this band's been through too much to return to the innocent bliss-out of "Storm." Let's be thankful they're salvaging what the can from it and moving on.
Well as Richard Ashcroft is a self confessed MILLIONAIRE and it was his idea to reform I would say you are talking shit! Which paper do you work for? You sound like some journalist froma gossip column!
wow..i have to say bein a fan from the earliest days..it is the perfect mix of everything they have done..great basslines from Si...awesome mccabe 'watery' guitar....and damn..it has a nice fast beat....wow..cant wait to see what the new album holds....

Even youtube gets it. I've never seen a video with so few views and comments having so many honors. 3 comments, 85 views, 8 honors?
