  • I'm not a fan of Chevys but the beach boys are the only thing that make me like that car

  • thats my favorite car of the muscle car era. one day i hope to get a striped down biscane, and drop a 409, M22, and 12 bolt in it. one FUN car.

  • "She's real fine"

  • Only thing a 409 is good for is a boat anchor

  • Let's put it up against a 413 Max Wedge and....just see....

  • I agree with gojoe283 on the 340 hp - smooth (hydraulic lifters) and powerful, only 5 less lb/ft of torque than the 400/425hp versions in '63. Wish I had '63 convertible back. In '62, the bubble-top was carried over for the Bel Air line only with the Impala 2dr hdtp transitioning to the new roof. The 4 speed available was a Borg-Warner T-10 not an M22. Powerglide came available with a 340hp in '63, 64 and early 65. I seriously looked for a 63 Z-11 in the mid 70's and never found one. :(

  • cool car...love the heater and radio delete...this wonderfull time capsule of an age never to return...Id gladly give my right nut for that car, even just for a year of having it! LOL! Im serious as a heart attack!

  • It is a 62, my dad had one. Not 409 but a 62 chevy belair. God what fun I had in that car.

  • That is a 1961,1962 never had that back window.1962 was the next body change

  • what a beauty

  • @ Wafrederick..??????

  • No its a 62. Get your facts straight before opening your mouth.

  • That is not a 1962,is a 1961.The 1961 had the ugly back half people hate

  • @wafrederick If you mean, hate, like how people hate people who don't know wtf they are talking about, then I get the hate part, but it's a 62

  • @inthepurelight wrong.. it is a 62 as I had one exactly like it in day.. radio delete car made for drag racing..If you indeed knew at the time what you were doing this car was available with a aluminum front fenders and hood..called a z-11 package..offered in 63 also with chevys mystery motor..now worth a fortune..

  • @rudeman15 Reread my post I said it was a 62 I was correcting the guy who said it was a 61

  • That was fun. Like being a passenger who didnt have to worry about dying.

Did I see double clutching at 2:22?

  • Your fucking gay thats when the made a car nothing sounds better than 2 4bbls sucking air on a big block chevy

  • so gay

  • excellent restoration, spot on.radio and heater delete.sounds a bit cammed up.the owner/driver knows how to drive this car.watch him handle the steering.

  • Base price when new was about $2400.00

Add the 409 for about another $325.00

    Delete everything except the Heater.

Drive it home new in '62 for under $3000.00 with T,T & L.

It was not bought for Grocery Shopping.

What did it sell for the last time it sold?

  • Immaculate. Best part is that steering wheel coming back to center. So strong, so smooth.

  • I love this video for the fact of watching him shift. Now and days its all hydraulic clutches that you can slip till all is gone back then it was more mechanical and you had to have fanesse to drive those old 4 spd.

  • @CountryBoyToy18 --- NOW AND DAYS? Nowadays.

  • Sweet! Now romp on it!

  • damn...

  • Bare bones. No power brakes or power steering.

  • Very beautiful !!!

  • Personally I'd rather have a 340 hp Powerglide...but I know most gearheads like the stickshifts...

  • @gojoe283 if its automatic its a pussymobeal as any body knows if its a stick you have more controle over it

  • @dallasvanity

And with a dictionary you'd learn that CONTROL doesn't have an E & MOBILE is not spelled MOBEAL.

    Stay off the drugs, son.

  • @MrPavePaws well sorry i was typing fast ....... if you think that because two words are mispelled mayby your the one on drugs my friend

  • @dallasvanity SPELLING FAST accounts for things like omitting a letter or swapping letter placements:

EX: thining (thinking) or yuor (your)

But adding letters to a word like CONTROLE (A LA Dan Quayle) or spelling MOBEAL phonetically as to give homage to a fiction TV Character played by Calista Flockhart clearly shows a lack of education.

AND TO REALLY PROVE THE POINT, look at your response! "Mispelled" [Misspelled!] and "Mayby".

Smoke 'em if you got 'em but be sure to use a dictionary!

  • @gojoe283 i'd rather have a 413 wedge

  • It is a nice ride, and gotta love a 409. Just can't stand red interior.

  • i do say, that car is quite spacious on the inside, i would love to own one lol

  • It needs a mild 632, a Tremec 5 speed, a/c, and HEAT! Change the master brake cylinder, too!

  • Que hermoso interior, no hay auto nuevo que igualen a estos gigantes.

  • giddy up giddy up 409

  • just doesn't sound right

  • she's real fine

  • Hear them solid lifters, only way to go!!!

  • Man can you imagine in gas price today to use your car

  • That s a 1961 and the 409 came out mid year 1961 to replace the 348.My father has a 1962 with the 409hp 409 engine,1962 was the only year that the horsepower was same as the engine size.

  • Beautiful car!

  • That is what my Dreams are made of.

  • that car is sweet!!!

  • LOL HERES AURE SICK STEY TEW FO OH NINE!

  • WTF? This guy drives it like it's a 4 cylinder Civic.

  • @hollyballs no he drives it like a 409 chevy

  • come on

you could have pushed it a little harder

  • sweet car, i'm jealouse

  • @metagirlsonsite 68 years old.and no I'm not racing these days but I did.. I raced for 9 seasons, back then.

  • I have a buddy of mine who has a shop nearby my place. He has a white 62 bel air... automatic trans with column shifter and a 327 small block v8.... awesome fuckin car.

  • @metalmaniac622 Bubbletop?

  • @metagirlsonsite Bel Air's were indeed sold with 409's, no need to cut the inner fenders to fit. The chassis is the same as the Impala, a very (heavy) beefy x-frame. I had a '63 Bel Air 409/Z11 (w/Aluminum Front End). I raced back then, very much the same as the '62. A very fine engine BTW.

  • shes real fine that there 409!

  • man thats a GORGEOUS car. definitely a rarity too

  • man, i love everything about this car!

  • Yes, it was an M22. However, the whine in the video is the typical sound of "pete Jackson" steel mesh timming gears. This car has been sold.

  • @classicarsva but muncie m22 was not around in 62

  • does it have an m22 tranny, with that wine like that?

  • Oh that is so sweet. Would love a beauty like this, What a nicely preserved engine.

  • Sweet car but goddamn bang some gears already break that toothpick shifter off

  • "shes real fine my 409"

  • I have the same Car!

  • Beautiful, did you sell it?

  • Love the sound of the solid lifter cam

  • SHES REAL FINE

  • dad knew a guy w/a plain jane hubcaps 62 biscayne 409 4spd. said it was one of the faster cars around at the time, there was a 63.5 427 merc in town that was faster but the plain 409 was a real sleeper

  • my favorite chev. nive car

  • Man that's a nice car

  • 409 Rulesssss

  • What's going on here? GET on this SOB I want to see that front end to pick-up after a Power-Shift to second gear!! Any way cool ride............

  • dont watch anythign from mecumauction then! boooor-ing! no action whatsoever there.

  • that is a nice old car !

  • that is one beatiful car someday i'll own get to own one

  • My Uncle had a 62 SS Impala with the 409. 4 speed dual quad posi traction 409. He still talks about it to this day.

  • Beautiful. Way ahead of it's time, more horsepower than cubic inches. Great car.

  • im restoring a 61 impala, 409 was the only choice for a motor for me! a 350 or a 454 would have deen easier for parts but nobody wrote a song about those motors. you cant beat a dual-quad 409!

  • @trucker136 I agree, anyone can just buy a 454 or 350, and a LOT of people have them. way to go for originality!

  • @trucker136 426 HEMI

  • you cant find any substitut for a "409" the are the best car in history!!!
