If you're fit at 6'5, you can dodge just the same if not slightly slower than someone at 5'5. Also, being that size, your dodge area is increased. Meaning- you have longer legs and a longer abdomen so you may move further from the strike. This is all assuming you're in great shape though. People like Brock Lesnar are excluded. He's a soda machine.

@DoWorkNP Well, I have trained in Boxing and various other martial arts and I have no reason to lie whatsoever, Bruce Lee didn't need to set up punches when training on a heavybag since he was trying to implement ending fights in seconds and not boxing combinations, he does utilise hip rotation in his punches and not using blocks or head movement, well there's a difference between a live opponent and heavy bag training! Different styles and philosophies implement different techniques!

this guys very good but he dont throw kung fu punchs or kicks . his punchs are western boxing style with jabs , straight rights and hooks , he even throws uppercuts and his guard is classic boxing , most of his kicks are muay thai but does throw spectacular spinning kicks when his opponant is hurt . his grappling is also very good
@nobbytang There are several hundreds of styles of kung fu so there is not one prescribed way of throwing punches or kicks. He did Sanda/Sanshou which is a kickboxing form of kung fu that also involves takedowns. Thats why it may seem different to some other forms of kung fu.
@Esperantisto84 There are similarities but if you watch them you will definately note the differences. Sanda has a more variety of kicks ranging from hook kicks to spinning backs, along with a fairly large emphasis on takedowns. There isnt as much emphasis on elbows or knees. The military over there also trains in Sanda and they incorporate elbow and knee strikes more often. The sport version however does not allow elbows from what ive seen and heard

But he did had lots of street fight experiences. Many famous fighters respect him a lot because of such experiences. He probably is the first one in the world to bring up the concept of multiple martial art fighting skill. Form that sense, he was a martial artist at a much higher level than his peers.

Yeah just because he lost one fight is no reason to give up on him, nor Lyoto Machida. I mean anybody can get knocked out with one solid hit to the jaw or temple or something or at least get disoriented enough to give the opponent enough of an edge to go in for the kill and finish them. As long as their loosing doesn't become a regularity and they learn from these looses on how to prevent similar things happening in the future that's what matters. Even Fedor lost a fight early in his career.

If you're fit at 6'5, you can dodge just the same if not slightly slower than someone at 5'5. Also, being that size, your dodge area is increased. Meaning- you have longer legs and a longer abdomen so you may move further from the strike. This is all assuming you're in great shape though. People like Brock Lesnar are excluded. He's a soda machine.

He never entered in tournaments but then again tournaments aren't a reflection of real fighting, in a real fight there is a different tension, no referee, no rules, the guy can be any size with any form of fighting on his side and could be holding a deadly weapon or have his friends jump you! @DoWorkNP Well, I have trained in Boxing and various other martial arts and I have no reason to lie whatsoever, Bruce Lee didn't need to set up punches when training on a heavybag since he was trying to implement ending fights in seconds and not boxing combinations, he does utilise hip rotation in his punches and not using blocks or head movement, well there's a difference between a live opponent and heavy bag training! Different styles and philosophies implement different techniques!

@nobbytang There are several hundreds of styles of kung fu so there is not one prescribed way of throwing punches or kicks. He did Sanda/Sanshou which is a kickboxing form of kung fu that also involves takedowns. Thats why it may seem different to some other forms of kung fu.

Sanda has a more variety of kicks ranging from hook kicks to spinning backs, along with a fairly large emphasis on takedowns. There isnt as much emphasis on elbows or knees. But he did had lots of street fight experiences. Many famous fighters respect him a lot because of such experiences. Bruce did train in fighting twice a week. However, his sparring back when and training in MMA today are pretty far extremes. Believe me though, Bruce could hang with top fighters of his time, there is plenty of evidence too you just have to look.

But it appears he was the first to conceptualize MMA, which emphasize fighting skills itself, heavy punches, and physical training, and de-emphasize styles. @shoppingacounts You have no clue what you are talking about. I am a purple belt in BJJ and have used it in "real fights" to great effect. Try not speaking about things of which you have no knowledge. You will come off as less ignorant that way.

@shoppingacounts Men do not bite and pull hair. The fights I have been in were with sane people who didnt want to stab someone over a fistfight. You have a distorted view of what a real fight is like. I blame TV and movies. You do make one valid point though, I would never try to grapple someone when he has backup. Ive had that happen. I took a guy down at a concert and got him in a collar choke from guard and choked him out, all the while his wife was kicking me in the head. I won though.

@shoppingacounts We arent talking about killing people you dolt. And if the military feels that way about BJJ then why do they train it so much? It is part of basic hand to hand training. I live 3 hours from Ft. Bragg and there are several special forces guys who drive the three hours to train at my school. If you dont think a rear naked choke is deadly then please let me apply one on you. I would love it. You have absolutely no clue as to what you are talking about.

Either way I think you should go to your nearest BJJ school and educate yourself. Let them know you think their style is "the least effective way, among all styles of martial styles, to kill someone.". Who the fuck learns a self defense art to kill people anyway. @dhillan85 Don't be such a naive cretin. Bruce Lee deserves his respect and has earned it. But he would not get all the 'OMG GE IS DA BEST EVARRR' if he wasn't dead, because he isn't the best ever. If the 'so many others' you're referring to are like the guy in this video, who is great, then they wouldn't touch Tony Jaa. I'm yet to see any martial artist who can. Prove me wrong, I'm open to change.

Ha! Not a chance. The best martial artist of all time is Tony Jaa. I love Bruce Lee and he's one of tge top 5 world's best, but he does get overhyped occasionally simply because he's dead.

Yeah just because he lost one fight is no reason to give up on him, nor Lyoto Machida. I mean anybody can get knocked out with one solid hit to the jaw or temple or something or at least get disoriented enough to give the opponent enough of an edge to go in for the kill and finish them. As long as their loosing doesn't become a regularity and they learn from these looses on how to prevent similar things happening in the future that's what matters. Even Fedor lost a fight early in his career.
