Saw them at a ProgFest in the 90's. Went mostly to see John Wetton didn't know any of the other bands. Fell in love with both The Flower Kings and Spocks Beard. Then came Transatlantic and I got both in one. lol
I got to known these guys through Mike Portnoys Drum clinic when 1st transatlantic wasn't yet released ( he played a part of it in the clinic ). He asked if anyone knew this band and only couple hands raised in audience, i went to buy cd some days later and man... it's redefined music to me in big level. Amazing band.
Probably my favorite band, and that says a lot as I listen to music almost all the time. Discovered them a couple of years ago, never stopped listening to them.
I would even read the lyrics without the music even existing, and even then I would be more than satisfied.
Cool. Thomas is my music teacher at school but atm he is uncapable of having lessons because someone turned up an amp to the highest while Thomas stood next to it.. One eardrum later..
PEOPLE!!!! What should be the first Flower Kings album I should buy?! I don't care if its a double album or not. Please, only people that really know about this band respond.
@skihero45 Tough call because you can't get a bad TFK album... or even a mediocre one! "Stardust We Are" or "Unfold the Future" would be a good choice, but trust me, once you get one, you'll have no choice but to get every single one!!!
my first flower king's song, I listened to it randomly from a playlist on youtube. Long time no hearing it... is still AMAZING. thank you so much guys. from ma' heart :)
circus maximus... i listened and watched them....they are shit... dream theater and transatlantic are not.. but the kings of prog music are GENESIS...(with gabriel singing and collins drumming) @chromakey84
@knumorvid well, they are not shit after listening to those, but still, they are not the technical amaze machine,,,, ... i'm not a technicity freak, its boring if you ask me, ,,,but the best mixture of digerible music and mother fucker music belongs to the 70's prog bands...
Love the Flower Kings....they're one of the bands that make it entirely impossible to feel down when you're listening to their music. So uplifting, great progressive spirit and compositions....Another of progs great bands!
About 8 years for me....spread the word...keep prog alive!!! It's sad that amazing music and musicians like these are on the sidelines of the music industry.
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!
Oh, and for those that haven't seen it live, I was thinking it was going to be a Roine show...um no. Hasse ROCKS. But they all do, so it's all good. Just go see it. It was like seeing it in my living room. Couldn't have been 200 people there...which is criminal, but....
The Flower Kings are my life. They are at the apex of progressive music; their symphonic prog, and their mastery of their music and their composition, is absolutely revolutionary. Every single one of them is great. Long live the Kings, and FLOWER POWER IS FOREVER!!!
Excellent performance of one of the greatest songs of the modern progressive era. From the brilliant studio cd "Stardust We Are" (1997). A true masterpiece of progressive rock....should be in all music lovers collection.
I think I was at this show (it was at the NJ Proghouse, I believe), and it was an awesome concert. I'm lucky I found the Flower Kings, I wish more people would open up to their music.
Jonas is a human metronome. Beyond that, when I saw them in Milwaukee last summer, he came out to check goodies before the show and told a joke.
I thin it was "Who do you kill first on a desert island, your business manager, or ?" (can't remember). And he said, "Never, ever, business before pleasure...."
I really enjoyed that; I only wish that the camera operator could have been able to get better shots of Marcus and Tomas playing. On the flip side, we get nice footage of everyone else! Thanks for posting.

Well, I've liked Ayreon for ages, so I decided to check out the Flower Kings as Ayreon has some of their members on its albums.
I came across this video, and I am not disappointed.

Exactly. Why would someone complain about Jonas missing ONE note in an otherwise FLAWLESS performance?
derekd122 4 years ago 2
I don't understand why people are complaining about Jonas' wrong note. I'm disappointed in this performance because he doesn't have his hat!
