  • Well, not only she plays like shit but the piece is totally inappropriate to be played with a Strad OMG the more I listen the more I'm disgusted!!!

  • ahhh money does buy happiness...

  • @AsherAshlag couldnt have said it better myself. I was really hoping she'd pick one of the Bach partitas, something to show off the bright sound and dexterity of the violin

  • @grab it's not the price tag. The sound is amazing. It's her bad choice of music. Really bad. If you want to show off a Strad or Guarnerius, Gershwin is a bad way to do that. This was just beyond me when I saw it first on TV. I would have told her you play Bach or find another TV show.

  • disgusting...if u choose a jazz piece - go on and improvise over the harmony, it`s not enough to play the melody...that`s what Kenny G does, that is why he is not a jazz musician.

  • she doesnt deserve that violin if she is going to play that song

  • Honestly speaking, if we were not told before hand, most of us would rate this violin no more than $30k, right? Money changes people's image.

  • Sounds like an old cat hollering in the rain by the garbage cans!! lol She needed to play Chopin, Mozart, Paganini, anything else!!

  • she let it slip through her fingers a little bit and I jumped!

  • What a terrible song!!!!!!

  • Why the hell would she play THAT with a Stradivarius? It would have been much wiser to show off everything that violin can do.

  • @SkullDMunch what does make a good bow?

  • @firedeathterror999 finding that 1 in a million bow blank and having a master actually make his best bow from that one in a million blank. Getting a good bow is a much more 'random' phenomena than a good violin. Also a bow must be found that sounds well with that specific instrument.

  • & my favorite composer! So beautiful!

  • I love her!

  • @Violinheaddd you... you... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • o.O what... sounds nice... but... uh... wouldn't you want to play a better song for the entire world!!!

  • Wheres the prank? Found it! watch?v=o3oQbmEhUP0

  • yuck, poor fiddle. Seems like this is more a story about a mediocre violinist being overly privileged :/ I do appreciate the effort on her part to do something different.. but she obviously has no taste.

  • when does she drop it :D ?

  • Not a very good music selection to showcase this violin...

  • @SkullDMunch 3.8 mil

  • ... um, any violinist above a complete beginner level can play double-stops and make the instrument have two voices and do trills and vibrato, she played an extremely simple song that didnt show off the increadable voice of a stradivarious, and also the microphone(s) used were definately not made for musical audio recordings

  • @twinkletoot... when I play my fiddle I get carried away from reality. its more of a lost, ecstatic look.

  • Has anyone noticed that when muicians play an instrument, they get a pained and sad look on their face and close their eyes? It's kinda strange...

  • @Twinkletoot That is the musician FEELING what they're playing, the sign of a good artist.

  • Antonio Strad should have made guitars I would've bought one!

  • @Ailurophile900

Antonio Strad did make guitars too!...you're doing well if you can afford one though :)

  • I have one for sale, wach video in youtube.antonius stradiurios.anno 1725

  • I owned a Strad once, but then I took an arrow to the knee

  • @EaAirsoft lol

  • I would have played a different piece also to showcase it more.

  • She should have at least had accompanying pianist and the Heifetz transcription of this. But other than that it was good.

  • uuuuuuuh Miss Important says; My bodyguards are in my dressing-room..... oooooooooooh

  • I find it hard to believe that with modern technology, a company hasn't bought a Stradivarius violin and analyzed it to replicate its exact structure.

  • @jklsd I googled you question and found the answer

    wired(DOT) (KOM) wiredscience /2008/07/ secrets-of-stra/

They say its because the earth was colder back then and trees grew slower and MORE DENSE causing the wood to produce perfect sound when used in a violin

At least thats what i read...

    Dense wood = strat

Cold climate growing trees = slow growth dense wood

  • is it the piece or is'nt she able to play?

Oh no doubt: Strativari is the best but it also should be played best..... tztztztztz

  • she should've played Fugue in G...

much better than what she chose >___> it's not the violin's fault that the song was atrocious

  • Will it blend? That is the question!

  • Comment removed

  • hmm sounds like any other violin ive heard.

  • why is she playing it? i'd have it in a air tight glass case in my room!

  • @BlindJudgement1 Any string instrument should be played regularly and be tuned all the time in order to be kept in excellent conditions...

  • @Alfred5150 yeah

  • "And zee bow is another two hundred thousands."

    "Hee, Hee, FUCKING Hee."

THESE TWO FUCKING CLOWNS AREN'T THE ONLY ONES WHO ARE LAUGHING, OF STRADEEVINK IS LAUGHING SO HARD HE IS SHITTING HIS PANTS, JUST TO SEE ONE OF HIS FIDDLES SELL FOR SO MUCH!

DISREGUARD THE HYPE AD LISTEN TO THE TONE, SORRY GEEP HEEP GEEKS, I WASN'T BOWLED OVER BY THE TONE.

I BELIEVE ONE COULD BUY SEVERAL REALY, REALLY GOOD VIOLINS FOR 3.6 MILLION DOLLAR, AND HAVE SOME CHANGE LEFT.

  • if I had 3.6 million dollars to 'throw to the wind' I'd buy it immediately of course as I think it is the best sounding violin I've heard so far :) LOL

  • for those who say it sounds 'just ok' I think you don't know how to tell what a good violin sounds like...this is a GREAT sounding violin....I still think it's a 'wallop' amount of money to pay for it of course, to me anyway, I'm a person who does not have the money to pay for my weekly grocery shopping! so I struggle to think what it is like to pay that much for a violin LOL

  • shoud put more money on the microphone

  • the song is okay but truthfully i think she could have chosen a more elaberate piece

  • @spanishxsword It's something that Olberman probably chose.

  • rip offfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!!!!!!!! thumbs up if agree

  • I'm starting to play violin but pardon me.my violin sounds better..

  • It sounds SO good.

  • she plays well, but... maybe it's just i was expecting too much but it sounded like just a good violin, not what i'd think a Stradivarius would sound like

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • its a unique sound !! good for you best wishes :*

  • ill have to agree the sounds isnt what i expected

  • im sure she is really good, but to be honest, that song kinda stunk

  • I'd prefer a 100 dollar violin and a girl playing it who is 300,000x times more musical.

  • was this the same violin they used for the music for "The Red Violin"?? It sounds the same as that one!!

  • Can someone please explain precisely what the difference is in sound between a normal one, and one of these? It might just be I don't have a proper ear for music... But yeah, please?

  • @pranzmeister It's hard to explain with words really. You really simply have to hear both side by side for the best explanation, and even still, it's widely up to personal preference, although strads are widely accepted for having an exquisite sound.

  • MSNBC News is the biggest joke.

  • should have played bach

  • she can't keep her grubby hands off the front varnish

  • Comment removed

  • This "expert" failed to answer WHY EXACTLY such violins produce such a sound. On the other hand, her playing is so sublimely beautiful I'm almost prepared to forgive her :)

  • I was excited to hear it until she said the name of the song she was gonna play. she couldnt pick bach? something to show more of a full range? I was playing that in my third year of learning violin. Im sure shes a great violinist but I just feel if youre going to play something for people who dont play violin you want to play something without slide notes and flats written in the music that only violinist would understand.

  • sound like shit

  • Respond to this video...

of all the great violinists that own similar instruments, they picked one that sounds like a 10 year old to be on national tv. great representation ...

  • for some reason she sounded out of tune and the tone is really poor. Perhaps it's the recording?

  • @itsGratisFreebies

    its the violinist...

  • its summertime from porgy and bess composed by gershwin... and transcribed by heifetz... it sounds okay to me, not bad at all.... why so much hate with those comments... wheres the love???? xD

  • U all think she plays bad just because she doesn't use vibrato on every note...

  • Wtf why would u spend $3.6 million on a violin that doesn't really sound good -.- ...I would rather help people using that money than buy myself a violin

  • That was a great video clip and I can't believe some of these rude immature comments posted here. If this was my video posted on my channel I would delete them in a heartbeat.

  • The violins great, but what an ugly song

  • @bryenico you just don't understand beauty

  • @bryenico She should've played Ave Maria.

  • @bryenico it's actually a really nice song, but her interpretation is... it's just not good.

  • This sound really bad

  • IF I WAS THE OWNER THE POOR VIOLIN WOULD HAVE BEEN ALREADY BROKEN

  • its a forgery. so sad.

  • omg i can totally play better than her :/ and i don't even think i sound good

  • she doesn't deserve it at all

  • i can't believe she is playing crap like that on such a beautiful instrument !!!

  • Hmm I wonder who Anne's sugar daddy is..

  • Is she like having sex with the violin?

  • These really good Strads always overdrive the microphones . . .

  • Comment removed

  • i wish she had chosen some other piece

  • @Flaminggential i kno, right.... it didnt show off the violin at all..

  • this violin sounds terrible!!!

  • @macak152 its not the violin, its the song she chose, the song is terrible!

  • @TheGuardianAngel666 It is..!! She should of played a piece that is very popular for violin.

  • @travonprince I thought the same thing. She's just promoting her new CD, though. Maybe this little demonstration did more harm than good.

  • the violin sounds very nice on a tonal level but the piece she chose to play sounds terrible on it... and i mean terrible, that was repulsive

  • I'm going to refuse listening to any violin music if not the violin is made by Stradivarius from this hence forth...

  • great session

  • Sounded great, I was like Keith especially at the end it sounds more like a flute than a violin, amazing, and the history is damn impressive too.

  • It would have been funny of she broke down into a hillbilly fiddle hoedown song on her prissy little violin in the middle of that.

  • That was a nice little treat to hear, thanks :-)

  • @xxxFaustusxxx you must have a damn good ear then.

  • I don't think her neighbours appreciate that 3,6 million sound as much.

  • ohh, please. She payed 3.6mil for the violin. The publicity she's getting will pay off double that in her lifetime. Smart cookie.

  • that unavoidable noise floor... :V

  • Well, the expert said it was worth $3.6 million, but I've got a pawn shop to run here. I really can't pay more than $4,500 for it.

Maybe $5,500, but you're really putting me out. I mean, it's gonna sit in my shop for like a month.

  • DON'T DROP IT!!!

  • Violins are the instrument closest to the timbre of the human voice.

And yes, it takes some knowledge and practice to know if you're hearing a good instrument.

If you didn't know what makes a Ferrari run, could you still appreciate the sounds it makes going down the road?

There are only a few hundreds Strads around but I think they've been left in the backseats of NYC cabs more than they ever should!

  • @zippyman818 Whatta a ya , whatta a ya; like Keith knows from violins? Puhleeze, he has to recover from the Yankees loss, so I guess this is part of his therapy, but don't try to pass off deep KULcha on us!

Don't we have the right to be elitist as we please? Now if she can play the "Mission Impossible" theme side-by-side with Jim Richter on mandolin; that I'd go for!

  • @zippyman818 Actually, the trombone is.

  • I'm completely uncultured. I wouldn't know if what I'm listening to here was from an expensive violin, or a regular one :/

    Can anyone, really?

  • @LoryLandskipper You aren't totally alone. I had to clean the blood out of my ears.. Maybe i have crappy pc speakers =/.

  • @jakobdrewaut

hahaha yeah that must be your speakers, brother ;)

I mean I don't think it sounded THAT bad, I just wouldn't know it was played on an important violin lol

  • The sound of that violin is absolutely incredible. I'm glad they showed it off on Countdown.

  • Although I do appreciate the great sound, I can hear the difference...BUT;

We go from rednecks beating a protester to the ground to an overly filthy rich lady buying a 3.6 million dollar violin and a 200k bow....while people are starving in the streets, the government and msm is completely hijacked, and my personal beef---hurt at work and not worth the corporation's money to help me continue to be able to work, surely it wouldnt have even cost as much as her fucking bow to help me....sickning

  • Keith's enthusiasm @ the end for this was fab.

  • Hopefully her new album is in like FLAC or something.

  • :| Of all the things man, all of the things going on in the world.

  • @Thinking4You EXACTLY.

Sometimes it's nice to take a break from the echo-chambers of the news and chill out. Sometimes you need to tune out for 5 minutes a day, or you will be mentally ill eventually.

  • @FixedNewsChannel I'll Co-sign that!! I could understand if this was a useless report on Linsey Lohan, or who doing who in hollywood, along with a whole host of nonsense called news these. Kudos to Keith for allowing such a piece of art!!

  • @Thinking4You r u serious? arts and culture isn't important? the things u should be complaining about is shit like paris hilton..not fine things like this.

  • The climate for the time rain vs dry periods and the wood//trees chosen make for the sound....and of course the gifted human playing it. This was great, thanks.

  • @1019drummer I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • @FixedNewsChannel A jem.. :-)

  • did you see the schtick they did during the tease before the commercial break? LOL

  • @KataVideo Yeah, and when I saw it fall apart, I actually LOL'ed.
