i have an amazing idea for a application for the iphone/mac, can work for either, but I'm not so sure how to make it. I would really like to team up with somsone. Message me if you are interested. My idea is somewhat basic but also genius. It has to do somewhat with non-profit organizations but you still will make a profit and i will explain why. MESSAGE me if interested.
i need help with something like this.... can anyone tell me how to have a user id and password field with an enter button? and after you click enter it pops up a new window which i can also go back and edit whatever i want to be in it?... and to make it so only the right user and right password will work? im new to this and having alot of trouble find out how to do such

Great tutorial thanks! I just have a few questions:
1. When I drag the object to the .xib window and add the actions and outlet the way you have to in the 3.2.4 version, it doesn't work. So I drag the NSObject down and everything works fine. Is that the way you have to have a controller now?
2. When I Build and Run the program, it says that textBox1 is undefined. How do I fix that?
How do i make it so when the application is done and i click on the application name then click on "About (application name here) and then make it say stuff like who it was created by and all that? Where do i go to edit this? Someone Please help. Thanks! :P
i've been trying to learn obj-C but xcode make it a way harder than it actualy is... at least to me.... you moves on the way to handle the Xcode, made my mind finally undestand the way it is.... thank you....
would you by any chance know where i can get xcode 3.0. I already have the 3.2 from Snow CD, but I need an older version to work with an Ada Compiler.
Thx dude. I found this very informative. I like how you explain what's going on in the code. Like the whole asking what the integer is in in the brackets. Keep that up. We uneducated ppl need you to personify things :). Good work and keep 'em coming!
OMG. This is exactly what I need. 20+ years of Windows and I finally reasoned that they are destined for the trash heap, so switched to Mac. (Actually Windows 7 is decent... based on XP) Anyway, here I am. Needing to program in Mac. My first application will be a "ridiculously simple calculator" or such. My second will be converting an encryption program from VB5 to Mac. WISH ME LUCK.
Can someone PLEASE make a tutorial for xcode that isn't for people with some knowledge of coding and has EXPLANATIONS of what exactly they are doing? There's literally no good tutorials for beginners...
Why can't I just find tutorials for coding? Oh, I can do that... but they do exactly the same crap. "But you must have some knowledge of this..."
Then when I search that, the same thing happens. "You must know some of this..."
@nkrasn11 i agree iam new at this and i cant find anything for beginners its always for people who know how to code.so i feel like iam not learning anything from these videos.
yes. to download the SDK program you first have to become an official Apple Developer. after that you just go to downloads and download a .dmg file for XCode. you can only open .dmg files on a mac. hope i helped!
it seems good but in the part where you have to write code, i copy what he does exactly but it just keeps saying 'textbox1' undeclared and "expected ] before }. Is that because i'm running xcode 3.2?
I find XCode to be extremely complex, after having used it for less than a week. I'm still discovering nice features in XCode that I previously knew nothing of, but I have had to use Google all the time to get the most basic things to work, like incorporating the application icon and creating a "Credits.rtf" file for the About window.
I find it interesting, though, that Apple uses such a unique approach to coding applications. It's nothing like using Microsoft Visual Studio or Eclipse.
Looks like you're having a seizure with your mouse hand dude. What's going on there?

@An0nymousHelper you can see there is a .rtf file in your XCode project

the about view gets filled with the text inside that .rtf file

When you show the code and said that Interface Builder made this nice code for us, I don't get what you got. I get a bit less.

I do not aggree with golaoi, this was an awesome tutorial, my first time using Xcode and Cocoa (though I do know PHP and all)
Hnetusulta 2 years ago
This tutor has the same fault as all the others. He goes too fast, has no emphasis, and does not explain key points. Teachers need drama.

Do I have to be a certain age? With the $99 version can u set prices on your apps?
