@KEWB99 though I guess it's kind of hard to complain about a game I got for free (you could get a copy early for free with an early purchase of GH5). I couldn't imagine how disappointed I would have been if I actually shelled out $60 for this after it was officially released.

My main problem with this game is that it just felt really lazy and thrown together. The interface was basically ripped directly from GH Metallica. On top of that a lot of the "guest" bands felt like they didn't belong anywhere near a game based on Van Halen. The set list was decent enough and I don't mind having some other bands in these one band focused games, but for example in GH Metalloca, the other bands that made it into the game made since. You had lots of other metal bands, songs that

this was the straw that broke the camel's back when it came to my interest in guitar hero games. i played for almost a month after this game came out and then quit altogether. i consider this game to be the death of guitar hero because of how slowly they were destroying the series after guitar hero 3 with all these unnecessary and retarded features like slider notes, long note hammer-ons and overall bad songlist selections

It's not as exclusive as he believes. If anyone bought GH5 within a specific time period (I believe it was the first month or so it was out), they could mail in a couple of things (I think it was the sticker on the packaging and something online) and they could also get a pre-release copy of Van Halen for free. So, thousands of people got the game at the same time he did.
