@deerhuntingzach, the 270 is a great gun jus for goin out an looking to kill a big buck, an not wanting to give it a chance, but if ur killin does for meat i prefer the 243
@deerhuntingzach I wouldnt say better. a 243 is a good all around gun. If you are shooting at further distances and need the knockdown power at that range I would go with a 270. Other than that I would say a 243 can kill a deer within 200 yards just as good as a 270.
@Leatherwoodoutdoors i hear ya there man. my .243 dropped a 9 pt and a doe no problem. there great starter guns. that was my first gun i got at the age of 8 for deer, but since then ive moved up to the ol faithful 30-06.
Im going on holidays to hunt deer with my uncle and the only gun ive ever used was the .32 revolver with woodcutter rounds but you cant really hunt deer with that could you i was thinking more of a double barrel
wait... so u r not hanging their heads in ur living room ?
good 2 know you're not an asshole :D
hunting for food hmm... letting the wolf starve or leave the forest and go back home for some chicken soup that u made from chicken that u shot in the wild....
@Leatherwoodoutdoors Hello i am turning 13 this month and want to start hunting. i have alot of pets and i do love animals, but i love deer meat and it looks like a fun sport.
So i wanted to ask when you shoot them in the head they dont feel pain right?
and i shouldnt feel bad about shooting the deer right?
@unk0wnmaster You should not feel bad about shooting a deer. It will die a more painful death out in the wild than it ever will being killed by a hunter. Deer are food and thats why they were put on earth. I like to look for deer and video tape them and I like animals too, but its ok to hunt animals that are food. I would rather kill the deer quickly and eat it than have it suffer a slow painful death from wild animals, disease or starvation and rot away in the wild.
@unk0wnmaster dont shoot it in the head, your more than likely to miss, shoot it in the vitals(heart lungs, liver) itll be an easier target and itll still die quickly
ok im not baggin on rifle hunters but god damn it thats shit i hate it when a deer is shot from 150 + yards i would like to see a die hard rifle hunter go out with a bow or a shotgun and see how many deer they get.
hey thats funny is that a model 7 708 or 7mm 08 bc thats what i am using this year and i love that gun its perfit for me i am 14 and it aint to long just right
@Leatherwoodoutdoors yeh we took about 15 this year and 20 last year its ridiculous how many we have its getting better though just killed one saturday runnin dogs
Need to hire a camera man? I'll work for free just as long as I get to go along with you, I just enjoy the expirience of seeing deer and the thrill of the hunt. In the end it's all about the expirience that's how I measure success in a hunt. Dont get me wrong I enjoy harvesting game, but on some of my most memorable hunts I didn't kill a thing. Great video keep up the good work, good luck next year!
I hunt in Jefferson county, but was thinking of trying near the Allegheny river somewhere in Clarion this year also. Nice video! Opening day weather last year was so bipolar hah.
@74SuperPoacher 2D does that help. Mainly clarion county. You have got to realize I walked for miles. and did it everyday until i found where the pressured deer like to stay. once i knew where they were it was very difficult to get the camera set up for a perfect shot on video. I could have got one easily but the video camera makes it 3 times harder.
@Leatherwoodoutdoors I got a buck on Thrusday of the first week in 2c and a doe on Friday from 165yds. Im goin up to camp in clarion this year on the first day. Maybe Ill see ya haha. Good Luck.
Making that much noise (understandable in those conditions) and able to walk up on deer like that on the last day....You must be hunting on posted land or a deer farm.

@awesomeguyable you'll learn how to control it over time. dont give up kid, it took me 9 years to get my first deer and to this day i still get adreline rushes, its perfectly normal
@awesomeguyable im 14 and i just shot my when i was 13 and i had the same problem as u shot at a buck when i was 12 and missed but when i was 13 2 deer came running out and i didnt have any time to think so the instinct of a hunter came in i rose my gun and shot and dropped him and it was a nice 6 point buck my advice is let the instinct kick in and pretend ur in a hunting video game shooting at a deer i hope this helps!
Lots of scouting is all i can tell you. Spray down with scent killer when you do your scouting. trail cameras work good too. Good luck! hope you get him!
@Leatherwoodoutdoors Would you be weilling to do guided hunt for the military? Just wondering. Have not been able to really get out and hunt since I joined the ARMY in 2002.
oh wow thats a nice piece of landd. wat do u put in ur food plots. back in the summer we put in like 11 of them. not real bigs ones and not real small. and we put in sugar beets turnips buckwheat clover brasca peas and i forget wat else. but i would like to know if we should put in anything else and in summer the turkeys really scratched it up. but hardly any deer eating it

haha lol kk i just wondered its our first yr doing these foodplots and yea we bale hay and plant corn and stuff and this yr with the corn we killed the hay and then let it die down and fall down to the ground then we plowed it under with the plows and disced it and did everything else to it and planted the corn so yeaa. and we basically got everything we need to farm and then do the food plots and with the food plots we use a kioti ck30 and a 5ft disc and then we got a 2 bottom plow
