carter USM, The Candyskins, the ocean blue, live, L7, material issue, BAD II, Camper Van Beethoven, James, stone roses, as well as neds, breeders and the others i can't think of right now...all great bands who mainstream didn't have time for.
Such a fun song (with a strong driving beat) from a (beyond) incredible album!!!!!! I'm so very fortunate to have seen KOD live (@ Maxwells in Hoboken NJ).
This was one of my "Top 5 of 1993". There was about a 10 year run of great modern rock from 1985 to 1995 starting with The Replacements and the rise of Material Issue and Nirvana among others in the late 80s and early 90s then Kitchens Of Distinction to Sponge and Gin Blossoms and The Refreshments. After about 1996 or so, pfffft, music went to hell. And had sucked since...thanks for posting!! this was a great song from the greatest era in music history.
@MaterialIssueFan I couldn't agree more, this was a time 89-94/95 that was a special time, when alternative music was at it's golden age, and 120 minutes was one of the voices of music, small, obscure, but great music that shaped our souls.
@Rhandx I could wax poetic about my college years 1988 to 1995 (including grad school) when I was immersed deeply in modern rock. Jesus Jones, Jane's Addiction, The Replacements, Smashing Pumpkins and my personal favorite Material Issue. Man, i remember those times like they were yesterday - young, innocent, the whole world by the balls so it seemed. No pressure from wives and kids and elderly parents and a career, just great music, booze, and staying up late watching 120 Minutes each Sunday.
@MaterialIssueFan I couldn't of said it better myself, Know them all, love them all...I could name a few additional bands like neds atomic dustbin, Big audio dynamite II, squeeze, camper van beethoven, and the candy skins, but I'm sure you already know of them, and the one band you didn't know, you'd debate me on the most obscure band. But you know the music, and I'm just happy to know that you know and appreciate them as I do.
@Rhandx Where can I meet all the ppl who post here and invite them for a round of beer?
We all get teary eyed reminiscing about 90´s music. Here's my list of assorted CD´s in my collection: My Bloody Valentine, Ned´s Atomic Dustibin, Teenage Fanclub, Buffalo Tom, Jellyfish, The Grays, The Ocean Blue, Ride, The Boo Radleys, Lush, The Breeders, Sugar and a long etcetera.
I guess I'm looking for help finding it physically/electronically...Death Of cool is out of print (preventing me from getting it on physical CD) and the usual sites I go to buy mp3's don't have it either.
Love the Kitchens and miss them and 120 Minutes too! I remember staying up late on Sunday nights recording videos on my VCR. I still have the tape! I'm afraid to watch it, lest it break.
I saw them live at a club and they didn't play this song. Everyone kept asking them to play that "one" song and no one knew the name. A local station had played 4 men and this song quite a bit. I'm listening to this cd right now. Love it!
oh this song is so good, reminds of my "youth". too queer for my 'straight' friends too 'queer' for everybody else! this song has nothing but good memories! cheers to all!

aaaah KOD.. . . the embodiment of the most profound of truths. . . . its not how you play. . . its what you play.
