That said, Dexter has proven multiple times that he bears some emotion for those he loves and those he trusts (like Miguel, depending on how you interpret this scene).

dude - get with the program, overall season 5 was just as good as any of the other seasons. Lumen was the most emotionally dynamic character, next to Dexter, of all the seasons - though the ending to season 5 was downright bunk - made no sense. Lumen was a midwestern girl, victim of an atrocity, nearly murdered, sought revenge and justice, killed in the name of justice (for her and the 13 others - emily included?) and seemed to fall in love with Dexter...

My favorite seasons go 2, 1 (sometimes they're interchanged...1 because I loved the Ice Truck Killer and his story...but 2 had Doakes and Dexter constantly going at it...AND to top it all off, they were hunting Dex!

So 1 and or 2, then 4, then 3. I loved 3 and Jimmy Smits as well but it was nowhere near suspenseful other 3. 5 I don't even care to talk about it. They made it into almost like a soap opera! Hopefully the writers will read all the complaints & make next season wonderful.

all of the seasons are amazing except 5. that one has zero comparison to the first 4. it seems to me the people who have been watching dexter since the very first season in early '06 have completely different opinions than people who just rented all the DVDs and caught up in a week. it's really a show that over a 4 year time period, you really start to care for the characters. but you can't begin to understand the extent of rita & dex's relationship if you only have spent 3 months watching.
