When I wrote to him about his Sawan Ki Ghata creation upon buying the 78rpm disc of Hole Hole Chalo More Sajnaa comparing to the great number of 50s from film Baap Re Baap "Piya Piya Piya mora jiya........he wrote back with interesting comments about selection of songs for Binaca Geetmala where he complaint about bribe.
great song based on Raag Asavari. Difficult to believe though we very well know it is O.P. ji's composition. another beautiful Bhajan is in Naya Daur "Aana hai to aa".Do u have other songs from Ustad e.g. ye sama fir kaha,kya kya chhipa hai tere dilmenetc?
Just for this song, I saw Ustad numerous times ( free because the Cinema hall belonged to a friend of mine) and used to put the 8 annas coin in the juke box at the "Freshco" restaurant in Calcutta.
I have heard this beautiful bhajan many times but this is first time I had pleasure of listening to the full version. Bless you ! I am also looking for two other great songs " bata do koi, kaun gali gaye sham" and "mere man mein hai ram, mere tan mein hai ram" --- Will be grateful if someone can post these gems !!
