  • Easy "Key Economic Issue Facing Australia" is Gillard

  • something special here?

  • I'm really not aware of your economical problems in the US but I have a weird sense lately.."I see Debt people"

  • thanks guys this is great

  • what a pig it fuck whits like him that hold up the NBN blowing it way out of budget then poking a joke at global warming i got one thing to say to you GET FUCKED you dumb shit polie message coming from gen y look the fuck out we are coming

  • economists has warned a critical point will be reached in 15 years when there will be more people withdrawing cash from super funds than workers contributing to them. That can only possibly occur IF the Government has already stolen my sup? if ive already paid into it, it still SHOULD be there! but hay we all no governments are the biggest thieves! so it will be a problem. or it could be a good excuse to raise taxes to 15% meaning with my income tax at 33% plus my supp at 15% would mean 48% tax!

  • Bloody ne-liberal cows, worsening working conditions, letting people off, disallowing fairness in Contracts, handing the capital on a silver platter for the corporates. Rich are getting richer poor are getting poorer. Life today is another re-incarnation of feudalism under a different banner, cause and effect are the same. This country needs a revolution. the majority should decide their own fate. Not a couple of CEO who run the country down and walking away with millions. Is this justice!!!!!!?

  • If you don't raise taxes or cut back in services, how will you pay the national debt?

Other countries are cutting back and considering protectionism (especially w/currencies). If they continue w/ith these, I can't believe that the govt. will do nothing in response.

Banks still don't trust each other. Until they do the credit market will remain frozen. Looks like both main parties are terrified of the power of the banks.

  • Hockey says the banks need to be "regulated". But he doesn't go further and say nationalized if they can't get their act together.

Also, if the Coalition was running economic policy, would they dare to go against Obama and Geithner's qualitative easing? So far, i've seen no sign of that.

If you won't hold the banks responsible for their roles in the global depression, how will the credit market work again? Hockey's an attorney. He needs to do his homework.

  • we had a surplus of 20 billion in 2008, now after Rudd stimulus we now owe 100 million in interest due every day! how is that sound economics? utility prices up food prices soring! as an individual owing $100,000 to stimulate my domestic economy i borrowed $500,000 how the hell is that sound economy! climate change economy is the biggest con,one child policy, ecological rating sticker on your house costing $1500 a year, $800 carbon tax per child per year dont thing the greens are going to help!

  • @esther19741974 'How is that sound economics?' You still have a job, that's how it's sound economics. Where would you rather be, unemployed with no money and no debt, or employed with some debt. Of course, we'd all love to get along in a healthy economy with no debt, but unfortunately that isn't how our flawed capitalist system works. APL did a great job considering the circumstances. (P.S, I hate labor, but don't deny they did a good job)

  • @orangejuuz *ALP.

  • @orangejuuz yer i agree they nearly did a good job on us all. Obama Science Czar Called For Global Carbon Tax. Immediately prior to his nomination as White House Science Czar, John P. Holdren called for a global carbon tax in order to “redistribute” wealth to the Southern Hemisphere.

Holdren’s comments were underreported at the time but have since garnered attention in the wake of the Democratic leadership’s new push to pass comprehensive climate change legislation. destroying the west!

  • He needs to get rid of that turkey neck and get his blood pressure checked, sounds like he's gonna have a heart attack. What a tool, hope he never gets his hands on the top job...yikes!

  • I agree Joe Hockey Should Be PM

  • @tmyttonwatson joe hockey is a war criminal.thats history, you cant argue with facts.

  • Seriously Joe Hockey should be going for PM. He is actually capable.

  • @trentable Hockey like Turnbull is just biding his time till after the election and the inevitable Abbott defeat.

  • What a breath of sensibility in the sad spin nonsense we hear from the present Government talking heads. Why is our news media failing us with their shallow reporting of economic affairs, without examination of alternative views? We are poorly served in this and hardly a "cleaver nation" to put up with it.

  • Comment removed

  • What a hopeless lowlife and puppet for the super rich and whinging neo-liberal run small business. This is just more of the same old tired rightwing rhetoric; THE SOLUTION TO EVERYTHING IS PUNISH THE POOR AND REWARD THE RICH! Democratic government should represent the will and interests of the majority not a handful of business oligarchs who its assumed will trickle the welfare they receive from government down onto the rest of us. Tax cuts and rebates are pure welfare for the rich.

  • Would you rather live in a 100 square meter house in a society where the average house size is 50sm or would you rather live in a 500sm house when the average house size is 1000 sm? The majority of people answer this by saying they would rather be relatively rich in a poor society rather than relatively poor in a rich society. By handicapping productivity in exchange for more current equity you are indeed among the majority. You would rather see every Australian living in 50 square meter houses.

  • Wow, what a totally refreshing 19th century view on tax you have... literally. Modern income tax as we know it today, comes from a system of taxation used in 1800's Britain, first used to tax nobles and high income earners, and was met with huge support as they said it was "taking from the rich, to help the poor". Obviously, it wasn't long before they taxed everyone. Didn't long for the rich to work out the loopholes either. The rich aren't always born rich, they just understand money.

  • It's your backwards Robin Hood way of thinking that increases the gap between the rich and the poor. Not everyone has the want or the inclination to understand money, and create wealth, but by punishing business/small business, you make it very hard for the average person to create wealth. What happens when you raise taxes? The rich will STAY rich, have to pay workers LESS, competition dies, and standard of living falls. Say hello banana republic. Punshing the rich, helps NOONE.

  • You took down my comments..Joe, a bit too close to the bone was it.?

Selling medibank and bringing back any part of workchoices is suicide....but then you blokes are still having your strings pulled by little johnnie........hey Joe I Bet you and Tony are run off your feet answering his calls,He will run the liberal party until the day he Dies.

  • Keep dreaming Joe! you and the Libs wont see Government for a long time, and if you think YOU'LL ever be the leader, only shows how out of touch you are with Australia and its people. After your IR laws and work Choices, you just don't get it. Your snake, untrusting and a slime. I can't wait to see you crushed to nothing like Howard was.

  • JOHN HOWARD STILL RULES.......he writes all Hockeys speaches.

and he probably writes Tony Rabits too

  • Can you explain to me how IR laws and Work Choices hurt the country? Everytime I hear someone condemn these policies, they always fall short in explaining why it was bad for anyone. I think it might be you, who is out of touch.

  • @TheMagicalSalmon With a comment like that you have never been on a wage or hourly rate, if you were, you would understand why Work Choices is bad news for workers and the country.

  • @ColdWarWarriors How dare you assume what I earn. I do in fact work at an hourly rate. Get your head out of your arse.

  • @TheMagicalSalmon I never made an assumption on what you earn, read my comment again. Obviously you have no idea what Work Choices legislation entails, educate yourself first, then make a decision on who best represents your interests.

  • @ColdWarWarriors Typical weak response. You made an assumption that I've never earned a wage or hourly rate. A little silly to backflip on something that's been written down for anyone to see. Oh and I have made a decision on who best represents my interests: a Liberal government.
