  • This was a great tool in my studying! I passed my test with a 157/130! Thanks so much!

  • ar science teacher made us watch this!!

  • I hope this helps, i have to know 20 by tomorrow!

  • cant get that song out of my head! which is good...

  • OH my goodness this helps so much! I have to remember 1-60 in the next 4 days. I've already got about 20 down, after listening to this about 5 times! :) Thanks so much, guys!

  • this is like something you can learn easly . by the way i already now 1 throw 30

  • ....this is a scary yet effecient way of learning the elements XD

  • i have to lear to 20 by next week thank you so much!

  • @1998Adelle i have to learn 1 throw 59

  • Hahaha. I have to learn 30 elements by next week. This song might help A LOT!!!!

  • This is great:) coming from a science teacher!

  • if this was suppose to help it lost all possible chance because its to annoying to concentrate on the elements!!!!!

  • Memorized 88

  • But we've still got little heavy metal to go...

    \m/

  • there are a lot more than 112 now just an fyi

  • Is this on Itunes? Cause I really need this...

  • THANKYOU THAT REALLY HELPED ME WITH MY SCIENCE EXAM it took me forever to learn the first twenty thank you once again, I have a feeling I passed ;)

  • Silver (bling) Gold (bling,BLING)

  • silver (bling) ROLF!

  • didn't recognise the element at 0:36.

    I think they meant AL-U-MIN-I-UM

  • @caneofsomaria Read the comments... Aluminum is the proper spelling and pronunciation in North America. Yet another curious incidence of "two countries separated by a common language." (In this case, however, there are multiple countries which have adopted each term. The IUPAC recognizes both variants.)

You may also note that "Lanthanides" and "Actinides" are also called "Lanthanoids" and "Actinoids." The IUPAC prefers the latter, but scientists tend to use the former.

  • i am the epic 11 year old vote if u watching this ibn 2012

  • Introuduction...lol...! i am 11 years old and... THIS IS BULL....no actually it isn't this is what i want to show you.. i love sciensce(though i hate handwritting lol) hwehheh w8 for it i am steven hawki8ng .....the perodicx table is a major part of chemistery(is it ) lets find out w8 befopre that i am onl;y 11 and not steven hawki8ngs lol.... typ epic rap battles of hiostory steven hawkings vs einstine...

  • dude i got 2 thank u 4 that cuz u just helped with my exam cheers

  • Hello fellow nerds wait my glasses are falling ok I'm so cool now that I know the elements.....I'm no nerd it was a joke

  • This help me learn the elements

  • is it does my or does the periodic table go up to ununostium (118)

  • @abcef123100 elements 113-118 currently have placeholder names, though two of them have new, tentative names. The placeholder name for 118 is ununoctium, which essentially translates to "element 118."

  • 53 out of 112

  • if "boom" is earned by being fissile, californium really ought get a "boom" too

  • @admiraldiggities "boom" was just playing with the well known use of Uranium and Plutonium in building bombs, and trying to give an additional latch point for memorization.

  • @bookbusband grokked for sure; i point out, however, that californium can support a critical mass in far less the total mass (tampered or not) than pu-239. see gsponer's "fourth generation thermonuclear weapons" or even kahn's hoary old "on thermonuclear war". of course, such pits would be incredibly expensive, and decay to useless americium within about two days.

    great song, btw.

  • "Logically one would expect that Cf-252 would be more expensive then than Cf-249. However, in Sept. 1998 the ORNL Isotopes Division charged $180.25 per microgram of californium-249, and $56.00 per microgram of californium-252, indicating that factors other than ease of prodcution were setting the price. If Cf-251 could be manufactured in quantity for the 1998 sale price of Cf-252, then a critical mass would cost $11 billion." - carey sublette's nuclear weapons faq

    gold! bling!

  • @admiraldiggities alpha decay to curium, i mean. blargh, it's too hot today. (radioactive!)

  • 1:43 i love how they say it

  • i love this i have memriozed 12 out of 112 100 more

  • The two newest "named" elements, flerovium (114) and livermorium (116), are in a public comment period, and should become official this summer.

  • Its gettin hot in here - lol lol 2:19 - radio active

  • Chem test tomorow !!!!!!!!!! Bling Bling Bling

  • Comment removed

  • *Yttrium* is spelled with two "t"'s; not one

  • @jonasyourlife Thanks for catching that. (I also spelled copernicium wrong, though I've added an annotation over it to fix it for anyone watching through channels that allow that. I will do the same for yttrium!)

Of course, in about 5 months I'll have to add the new names for elements 114 and 116, once they become official, and perhaps that will require a whole new video! (On which I will hopefully do a better proofreading job.)

  • My science teacher played this and now I can't stop listening to it!!!! Blah!!!

  • @Brookeloveschance i know me 2

  • @clusmby12 It sucks and i was sitting in his lit class and said these are the elements and he said brooke are you still singing that song and yeah I got him to laugh

  • @Brookeloveschance wow some kid in my class was like screaming these are the elements elements all the kids were laughing and the teacher was like you can stop sining now.

  • @clusmby12 Haha I would laugh and be like shut the hell up! Haha

  • @Brookeloveschance lol i sure that is what the teacher was thinking

  • "Bling Bling"

  • Test Tomorrow on this!

  • For my homework I have to learn the first 30 off by heart and the symbols this is so catchy . . it helped a lot!!!

  • i actually love this. WHOA

  • EPIC!!!! luv how he says wooooaaaaah lolz

  • had a test today this song helped me

  • Epic!!!!!!!

  • thumbs up if your science teacher didnt bring here you bought you science teacher here .. XD lolz

  • hello , i am only 11 years of age and in year 7 in holland park, i already knew the first 10 elements of by heart but this....... was excellent i find this the best periodic table song ever because it is fairly slow for me to memorise and hear clearly and it is in order... Thank You so much xx

  • i like this song and it is fast

  • you missed 6

  • @famaliyof4 These are the only "named" elements so far, though there apparently will be a couple more on the way soon. What currently exists for numbers 113-118 are placeholder names that essentially translate to "element #113," "element #114," etc...

  • @bookbusband okay

  • @bookbusband However, now the IUPAC is now proposing two more "official" names. (So, in about 6 months, after the period of open commentary, I may have to rewrite the ending!)

  • Comment removed

  • @famaliyof4 no he didnt 6 is carbon

  • @isaacsmiths I meant 6 of them

  • i shall be using this for a project; your creative commons licensing is a saviour

  • @izeitgeist Cool! Thanks for letting me know.

  • the song is to fast for you to read

    my test is on monday

  • the song is to fast for you to read

  • saw this is scienc class today

  • lmao I'm using this to study for this HUGE test I have on these, amd I'm getting there

  • This is an awesome song, and it really helped me.

But, Lanthanum isn't part of the Lanthanide series. Actinium isn't part of the Actinide series. They're the elements right BEFORE each series--at least on the newer versions of the periodic table it's like that. Other than that, nice song.

  • @Ageoffan Which newer versions? The IUPAC table of Jan 21, 2011 (available on the IUPAC website) does in fact list them with the Lanthanoids and Actinoids.

There are, of course, disagreements about various (and often trivial) details depending on what country one lives in and whom one associates with. Perhaps this is the source of confusion.

Thanks for the kudos, and I'm very glad it was helpful to you.

  • I ask my science teacher to play this ALL the time lol

  • my science teacher brought me here :) got stuck in my head all day

  • brilliant, I love to coin mnemonic devices, I have collected many of them. thanks for that interesting video

  • This is the best out of all the "Learn the Elements" songs. Even though i cant rap at all. =D

  • @alyssaschrull Hey, that's okay. Neither can I!

  • @alyssaschrull lol, u should listen to one called element rap. i memorized most of the lyrics. the song lists the first 20, but its really helpful. im excited to show mah science teacher tomorow!

  • kupfer haha

  • Einsteinium aaah...

  • my friend and I dance to this in science!

  • Is there a downloadable version?

  • this is the best song out there for the elements . so ill listen till i learn them.

  • till Xenon in 15 mins,

  • My teacher played this song in class and now none of us can stop singing it the other teachers were worried about us cuz we were all going around singing about the elements of the periodic table then they fount out that it was my science teacher that got this song stuck in our heads xD

  • i lovw this

  • I LOVE YOU GUYS! ALL HOMO!!

  • I love it!

Could you try to make a song with the elemnts and the symbols together so i know which ones match up??

    Thanks!

  • @bubblebear40 I don't know. It's an interesting proposition, but I can't help but think it's just a bit too much information for one song... I've been thinking of doing one that addresses just the elements with symbols that are unintuitive like tin, antimony or gold. Or ones that could be easily confused, like thulium, thorium and thallium.

  • @bubblebear40 For myself, once I wrote the "periodic table SYMBOLS song" and memorized it, I was able to use it, along with this one, to construct an entire periodic table in a couple minutes. The symbols song is also easier to memorize... Probably doable in a few short practice sessions.

  • @bookbusband ok thanks ill try that.

  • @bookbusband ok thanks ill try that.

  • This's good It's help me to remember the elements to do my test!!

    thanks

  • helpful......... :)

  • dr. newman, you are awesome haha

    the end. :)

  • This was sooo helpful! thank you!(:

  • hey! Thanks for sharing this. It's been a great help. I can't seem to download it though. I follow the link and it doesn't let me download? Could you help me?

  • @kreynold06 Someone else had this problem and they were able to solve it by using a different browser. I just tried the download again from Firefox, with no problem.

  • Thank you so much. It did help me a lot. :)

  • This is FANTASTIC!

  • HI Ms Brady

  • hahahahaha awesome

  • 1:33 is where i could get in 15 minutes, Damn that easy

  • Comment removed

  • even you know i am in 5th grade,

    this REALLY HELPED ME!!

  • nice song!!!

  • Every time someone gives this comment a thumbs up, Chuck Norris punches Justin Bieber in the face.

  • is this on itunes??

  • @shanonbananan765 No, it's not in iTunes... Maybe once I have a few more songs recorded at a quality level that's worth asking people to pay for! :-)

  • @shanonbananan765 But it does have a free download (in case you overlooked that...) See the link at the top of the comments.

  • @bookbusband I didn't overlook it I just don't normally trust online downloads

  • please make the karaoke version!!!!

  • @chryesse It has been made and posted!

  • @bookbusband ohh haha thanks! ^^

  • Amazing song! Just found it today and I already have half the table memorized!! Now if I could just get the download to work. It says I need a payed version of quick time to download it of something like that. :( but it is still an amazing video!! Like times 1000

  • @qmlong01 Thanks!

As for the download, maybe check your browser settings, or try another browser... I just went to download it with Firefox and had no problem. (Anyone else have this problem?)

  • @bookbusband I got it to work using google Chrome! I guess it is just an internet explorer thing.

  • @bookbusband I got the download to work with Google Chrome, so I guess it is just an Internet Explorer thing.

  • I think this is the most helpful song/video EVER. Thank you for helping me pass Chemistry ! :D

  • This is FANTASTIC! I'm going to use this to learn the periodic table for school! Will share this with my professor! (Any chance you could post the words to this song?!)

    Thanks!

  • @SDbrotv @polaville I've just posted the lyrics in the Video description (at the bottom.) You may want to regularize formatting or capitalization...

  • I am in need of the lyrics in text form. Thanks y'guys. :)

  • @polaville look in the descripition

  • I thank you so much for this video. :-bd

  • I owe you!

  • Lol, at first i thought this was a will smith song

  • @AlyssaLuvzPicklez I did write this. Thanks for the compliment!

  • My chemistry class has been using it nonstop lately !!!!!!!

  • Oh, I also posted it on Facebook!

  • This video was SO helpful, I needed to know the first 18, and instead I learned 19...I have the tune and song in my head when learning the elements :) Biology in College is going to be easy if I can keep learning things like this the easy way. Now I just need to learn about Covalent Bonds, Isotopes, etc!

  • Thanks everybody for your feedback! And thanks for sharing it with your friends. (The video has gotten a lot of new views over the last two weeks, thanks to some of you sharing it on Facebook. Keep it up!)

  • @spongebob23oncrack Working on getting a downloadable version up by this weekend. I'll post here when I've got it ready.

  • Thanks this helped soooo much! and finally a good song, very nice.

  • This is absolutely brilliant :)

  • Brilliant!

  • This is awesome :)

  • xx

  • i thought there was 118 elements

  • @summahits The last 6 in the table of 118 have been given temporary names, as they haven't yet been "discovered". They're more theoretical. (At least that's my layman's understanding.)

The last one with an official name, "copernicium," was only added recently. Older tables will have its placeholder name.

  • I gotta need the lyrics man have you got them???

  • Comment removed

  • Platinum *BLING* Gold *bling bling* hehe love the song :)

  • Thank goodness! I have to have them all memorized in order for my o-chem exams so this will be helpful.

  • Awww.. I was waiting to see how you could fit the last 6 into a rap =D

  • i heard this song in class cuz where learin this in sixth grade next year

  • You are a life saver. <3

  • this made me smile (:

    in a good way

  • it's radioactive!!! (it's getting hot in heree:)

  • this should get more views!!!

  • hey dude can i download this smwhere?

  • @EunHeeSweetie Not yet (without circumventing YouTube's rules.) I'm working on it, though.

  • @bookbusband did u WRITE this?

  • Thanks for the comments! I will be working on doing a better recording of this soon. (I wrote and recorded this in a single day, and a few things were rushed.)

In the meantime, note that I didn't do a good job of pronouncing the first "t" in protactinium, and I misspelled "copernicium" in the video. If there are other things I should change, please let me know.

  • I love this song! I'm learning ahead (shuttup, I'm not a nerd. :P) Anywayss.... I love this song (but i already said that) it helped me learn the elements and its seriously catchy! Deserves wayyy more veiws! XD

  • This helps me so much with learning the elements for science, thank you for making this and putting it in order this the symbols!
