why on earth doesnt this expert put a plate of steel in his gauntlet? i know nothing about birds, but this makes sense to me.. i would wear goggles too.
You don't have to go 'hands on' to get amazing footage of wild animals and get information out to people. David Attenborough does it without resorting to disturbing the lives of the animals most of the time. Eagles do not like being picked up or having their nest invaded. Have some respect for the animals and leave them alone!
Not a smart idea to go looking in Eagles nests as the mother can smell if there has been predators around and if she senses any danger she will leave her chicks to die.
sry to dissapoint you, but that is just a myth ;) no birds leave their young to die if they can smell humans on them!!! it is perfectly safe to handle chicks with your hands... bird chicks i mean :D no but seriously, it´s nothing more than an old wifes tale...
Wow, may there one day be a drone armed with steel talons, eagle eyes that shoot lazers and is powered on the flesh of its enemies. Program it with justice
wonder if those eagles are used to those people coming to the nest, cause the mother doesn't seem to agitated by the people being near the nest, and the chick is pretty much sitting in the guys lap like a cat
They could leave their smell behind, and if the mother smells it, she might get scared away. Then the chicks would starve (or get eaten by other birds).

Someone probably mentioned this earlier, but these are harpy eagles. Native to southern South America, they are known to carry away prey up to 30 pounds, usually marsupials or primates
Another problem with those deadly claws is even if you manage to get away with only a scratch you still have to worry about infection. Pretty awsome vid, I might hold an eagle with a glove on but you wouldn't catch me anywhere near an eagle nest.
It's incredibly refreshing to see intelligent discussion and debate in Youtube comments instead of the usual flamefest I see all over the place, I salute you guys for being civil, even when you disagree.

True, but man has to put forth a conscious effort to stay away from violence and hold order in a community. If they have an offender in the community he or she must be delt with properly or the crime will continue. So even if a culture wants to stay peaceful they have to think about violence in order to solve any potential problems.
what you said is actually very deep..'delt with properly' should not have arrogance and invalidation as a part of the answer but listening which is the opposite of arrogance... women may not like to read this but they help invalidate males who learn to invalidate themselves,to me the perfect formula for the pathology in AA communities, the thoughts of those who raise them..invalidating mothers to men, which they got, from 'white women' culture.,ho blamed white men for all but still not look at self

i think you might be a little naive in your assumption that only white people are violent? I think you need to read all the parts of history and not just the ones that prove your point. Many cultures are based on violence. i think the conclusion to be drawn is: human nature is violent, not: white people are violent.
interesting comment but it has little to do with the question presented.....not an accurate interpretation of the comment and question...the question still remains...read again, take time before replying....
I was simply trying to address the problem with your question. So instead of wondering why a certain culture is "always" interested in the violent side of things you should ask, why it is human nature to be interested in violent aspects. As for an answer to that question, there may not be one. Man has been interested in violence and obtaining goals by violent means since the beginning of man (religious or not). This is one of those philosophical questions that can be argued extensively.
I'm going to take exception to that and will argue extensively with that conclusion...that man...all cultures of man ...have been violent since the beginning.....if that were true my friend....man would not be around today....take a look at the rate of todays unanswered violent culture and rate of death and decline of members in this human culture of present....this takes in account your question...how it is in the present....my friend there are many cultures today in which there is not crime!
True, but is it that the cultural habits have overcome this nature? Take Tibet and China for an example. The Tibeten culture is mostly peaceful due to their religious principals but it doesn't stop them from reaching a breaking point, such as lighting themselves on fire in protest. I do think you have a valid point and there is definately evidence for it but there is also evidence to support my points as well. I enjoyed discussing this, have a good day. :)
i don't know enough to speak or whole countries....i certainly can't say China is not violent...i don't know enough about Tibet but there are communities in the world today with little to no violence....i know of places where there has been no crime for years...where there is one sheriff...where the jail cell door is left open...where 15 y ago was the last time someone was in it...i know of places where no one goes to bed without food in belly and all have a place to sleep ...
Very true. All I was saying was that sometimes peace is learned as a way of life. The thing between China and Tibet is that China has been oppressing Tibet for years and in response to it the Tibeten people have not used violent force but have used suicide as an alternative means of violence. So my point was, that even peaceful cultures will resort to violence when under pressure. It's a "fight or flight" complex. That is why i think it's in human nature to want to do something by violent means.
There is where the definition of peace and violence has to be determined...i learned that peace is not simply the absence of violence....and that violence is not just what you do to someone else...suicide is a form of violence as i understand it....peace is actually alot or work...alot of caring and acting on it....courage to speak up, be nice, smile and act to help others, compassion wisdom....it is giving advise to keep families together and not split apart as many women's group advice is.....
i thought that if you get contact with a chick their mother can smell the human scent and ditch the baby.. it was a theory? or is true to some species?
I don't know about the scent thing But I've read from numerous sources that some hawks will abandon their nests if a human is seen getting too close to its nest... eggs and all.
