@MultiCBGB No one has heard of the band or album or whatever it is that you're talking about. But I'm sure they in their anonymity are amazing geniuses, and if I cared, I might even look them up, but I don't.
@a1jungle it's in stereo when i play it too, sounds great with Bose speakers.thanks for posting this funky jewel.i always had a soft spot in my heart for this album
@19680117 Great groove to this and Denny Seiwell's drumming was right on the mark throughout this whole album. He doesn't often get a mention but Macca did well to get him on board with this first version of wings - almost as funky as joe english.
There is actually some dispute over who did it first. Though Mickey and Silvia claim to have written the lyrics, Bo Diddly claims to have written the music. Bo Diddly, Mickey & Silvia, and Buddy Holly all recorded and released it within months of each other.
Neither John or Paul were the Beatles...they...as a combination with George and Richard... were the Beatles...their own works are what they are...some better tnan others....this one...in my humble opinion... is as great remake of the original version...
@a1jungle i absolutely agree with you! I'm tired of many people trying to compare thier post-work with Beatles songs or compare george, paul, ringo, and john to each other :-/
To each their own opinion.... there are lots of people...including me... that love this version..John had insight...and together with Paul and his insight..they produced classics that are timeless...
@helix23 ....you know it....thanks for listening and watching this very boring video...one of my first...lol...just wanted to get it out there...it also happens to be be my most watched...as of this posting it is quickly approcing 10,000 views....
@a1jungle It's hard to find an mp3 of this. It isn't on iTunes. This is the only place I have found to hear it online. Maybe that's why it is watched so much.
The only reason I have it is becuase I converted the vinyl LP, first I did a wav file then I did mp3. This happens to be the wav file so it is actually better quality.
exactly! One of Paul's best vocals ever. It's great how Paul makes excellence seem so effortless...Also a big fan of "I'm Down"...that's equal to John's ability on 'Twist and Shout'!
I always thought that Macca should have done more covers like this. What a great idea to infuse a pop song with reggae rythyms. Don't think that intro is too long at all. Set's the right tone. Linda's backing vocals are spot on too. Well done song from a period when Mac wasn't gettin much love.
Bullshit. It's great. tBut it's completely unlike the beatles. It didn't receive nice comments in the 70s but it's extremely cool stuff. I guess Lennon's What You Got is among the very few solo beatles tracks that's anywhere near this in terms of grooviness.
@acepipe123 The intro is great - until it starts going a bit too long. Takes over 3 minutes until we hear Paul singing by himself. But sometimes things are better when you have to wait longer for them.
buck owens and susan raye also did a rather nice version of this track !

Actually, my favorite rendition has become a country-rock recasting by Ian & Sylvia, heard starting around the 5:50 part of this clip:

Alas, the chord structure seems to have more in common with Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" . . .

Too bad this video is mono with only the left track. Stereo with the right track (which has the synthesizer) would be nice.

This isn't half bad actually, no triggered computerized drums, real drums sound real good.

Absolutely brilliant. 70's Macca was still golden. Many people tend to ignore that fact.

Much too long of an intro on this. Paul should've gotten George Martin to produce it and John Lennon to critique it.
