In last 7000 years Iranian immigrated to everywhere in the World and today perhaps more than a billion people who have Iranian roots with all kinds of religions and races have big celebrations in Norooz, many of the said celebrations have changed the name of Norooz yet spring parties could be found everywhere and this is what Persian named it as Norooz or "New Day" to forget all wrongs of past years and move with hope to futuure....
80 million people of Iran celebrate Norooz, And it is originated form Iran, NO & ROOZ both are persian words, don't know why some people talk pure nonsense? If Norooz is not originated form Iran then where? Halabje of Kurdestan? or downtown LA? or north China?
man his real name wasn't jamsheed shah ,, his reall name is jamsha and it's a kurdish name from the medes empire whom are the anccestors of the kurdish people ,and newroz dosn't just belong to iranians, it's celebrated all the way from the eastern parts of kurdistan which is occupied by the syrian regim and in all other parts of kurdistan under Turkey Iran and iraq's occupation to tajikistan whom thier words and language is closer to the kurds and the persiansss.. newroz is 4 all no just Iran
@parandehdarya U r a TURKOMAN TROLL FROM IRAN WHO WANTS TO DISTORT IRANIAN AND ARYANS HISTORY. U WORK WITH AMERICAN NAZIES I HAVE HEARD FROM MY FRIEND AND TELL THEM THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE WERE AN ARYAN EMPIRE WHEN THEY WERE TURKIC MONGOLIAN.

Norouz is celebrated in Central Asia, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea, and some ethnic groups in Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia.
We need recognition of this day in universal calendar.
We want regime change in Iran, if obama wants to wish us happiness, DO NOT NEGOCIATE WITH TERRORISTS, WE ARE ALL HOSTAGE BT THESE TERRORISTS, ,, REGIME CHANGE, REGIME CHANGE REGIME CHANGE
Zarathustra or Zartosht fortold the birth of Christ- hence the 3 magi , which is a Persian word. He believed in reincarnation, as I do. The 25th of December was celebrated in Persia as the birth of Mitra- our sun-god. It makes sense since thats winter Solstice. It was adopted by Romans and Christians later on- as the birth of Christ. This awakening- our awakening- is for all . Blessings.
Persia rising. It makes sense to celebrate the beg. of spring as a time of re-birth: What a Civilized Idea". By the way, Easter is taken from the Zoroastrian tradition, both the name and practice. Norooz Piroz to all of you.
ok, I'm a Persian myself and have been living here for four years, I haven't seen any disrespect between these 2 cultures so far. I haven't seen any crime committed by Iranians. nobody hates us here. well, there are bad people in every culture, nobody can deny it, but it's better not to judge a whole nation by those bad guys.
I'm not saying these words as advise my friend. it's only my opinion.
Bad people look for bad in others. However, good people see and recognize good people and have good experience. If anyone stop and think how to change himself/herself instead of see flaw in others will change his attitude toward others. I will pray for the one who can not see good in other people and God willing they will change for better. God bless you all who help society to become a stronger and healthier community.
Why not celebrate "Norooz" as well as Easter,Thanksgiving,Christmas,New Years, etc. etc. Irianians in America have the best of both worlds/cultures..Thank GoD !!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to recognize and express the gratitude of the Communities that celebrate Nawroz to Mr. Moridi for his efforts.
At the same time, I was a bit curious about the reasons because of which he did not include some of the other communities, like Afghanistan which has over 100,000 people in Ontario alone. Afghans celebrate Nawroz exactly the same way as Iranians and also there is Tajikistan, etc. who celebrate Nawroz as well. I would think that would have strengthened his case further..
I'm beginning to think that the same resolution should be passed by the government of Quebec. Eventhough I'm unsure if we have the same power in Quebec where the presence of Iranian community is comparably dimmer. Without any prejudice as a person coming from Mars I'd rather look at the birth of spring as the new day than the dead of winter which is really deadly here even without wind chill.
Well, Canada is made of diversity. and Canadians are proud of this diversity and respect other cultures. That's why Canadians are known as civilized people throughout the world. If you are culturally deprived or would like to take your precious time to ridicule some cultural and intelecutal activities, it is not Canadians fault.
Thank you for your afford, more Iranian/persian need to do that and bring the true nation of Iran together. God Bless you. Master Mehrdad Khan Moayedi
Thanks to Dr. Moridi and most of all the Canadian gov. to make this possible. An inspiration for the US gov... Or am I dreaming that this would ever happen in US? I guess we need clones of Dr. Moridi around the world!
