Can I go many more rounds and come up with a blanket? I just started learning crochet yesterday and I'm wondering if that is essentially how you crochet a big thing.
By the way, THANKS A LOT for your very helpful videos! Such excellent instructions!
Hi Theresa, thanks a lot for your videos!! I´m from Argentina, and speak English thankfully! I´ve learnt crochet with your clearly explanations! I´m studying Cloth Design, and doing a work for the university, just if you could tell me, how can I do the same stitches but in a triangle, instead of square?, I´m trying but don´t know how to continue without cutting the wool. Thank you very very much!
What you would do is a decrease. There are two ways to do a decrease. That would be the traditional way by joining two stitches together or skipping a stitch. You can still do this stitch in rounds, just push the knobby part to one side so it is all on the same side. I hope that makes sense.
Yes, you can combine stitch combination's in infinite ways. Just experiment with small swatches first because sometimes once you get them together, they may not work and look good together.
hi theresa, ive tried & tried to get this one right but i keep ending up with too many stitches and not enough spaces in my rows somehow! where exactly do the stitches go? are they in the spaces between or the tops of the st's in the row below, your picture on yr blog is great but mine still dont seem to be working out, its driving me nuts! ps is it easier to stick to sq's rather than trying for a blanket (keeps going out of shape) thks for your help, youre so inspirational x
You are welcome. I do have a symbol and written instructions on my crochet blog for a visual reference in addition to the video. The stitches are being done in the top of each previous quadruple crochet stitch. You are doing a QC, HDC in the same stitch.
wonderful dear teresa, you make me love crochet, you explain so clearly, i'm morrocan and i speak french, but in the fench books of crochet it isn't so clearly explained.that why i prefer your videos, thanks a lot.
hi teresa, thx for the help the other time but is the equivalent of the H crochet hook also a 5.5 mm crochet hook?, if it's not can you tell me the right size of the hook. thanks.
thank you Teresa for your help and thanks for the videos, i am gonna search on google for crochet patterns like you've told me and i wish that you'll put videos teaching us how to do crochet jackets and alike.
I am using all my extra yarn from my hats and slippers to make granny squares and then im going to make a big blanket out of them all. When i figure it all out i will show you. Thank for all the new granny square patterns I think it will look so neat when its done.....:)
im kinda lost in were you are putting the crochet in when you get to the corner big space are you putting the hdc and the 3tripple and then the hdc again in the same space?
With this square, you are doing, 1 HDC, 1 QC, CH 2, 1 HDC, 1 QC for the corner stitches. I will be posting written and symbol instructions on my crochet blog.
What yarn do you use for this? Is it the Red Heart worsted yarn you usually use?
Thank you for posting this- the end result is wonderful! I agree with Jenny on the HQ quality; it's clear and sharp video :)
Oh, sorry for the long-ish comment but I was wondering if Lily Sugar N' Cream yarn would work for this. It's 100% cotton and is supposed to hold pretty well.
Cotton is used for baby items and holds its shape very well. I would think you could use it for this bobble and it would work fine. You may need to adjust your hook size for tension.
Theresa, I just wanted to thank you for making a VERY visually appealing video! The HQ clarity ia wonderful, and the use of the black background make the stitches so easy to see. You're the best!!!!!!!!!
The squares are approximately 6" wide with 4-ply yarn. You could start of with a row of 8 squares and see of that will work for your width. The nice thing about granny squares is you can keep adding if it is not large enough.
This is a great granny square to mix in with other granny squares.

I am using 4-ply yarn. It can be any brand of 4-ply yarn and various smaller ply. The brand you mentioned would work.
