  • Mike, did you support invading Iraq? Over one trillion in our tax dollars. Isn't healthcare (life) more important than war (murder) There was no need at all for Iraq. Don't you and your friends feel responsible for the deaths of millions? And you're complaining about a healthcare reform program? You have no ground to stand on. I live in Texas and our city wouldn't allow our President to speak to the schoolchildren via satellite.Pretty bad State Huh?I think so.

  • Obama, YOU LIE!

  • Thank you for your efforts to slow this debacle, but with less than half of our citizens paying taxes, those tasked with paying for these plans are in the minority, and have no say.

While I am no fan of insurance companies, and I believe that it is wrong for hospitals to charge outrageous fees to those without negotiating clout (insurance), expanding our Medicare/Medicaid programs can ONLY lead to higher taxes, and restricted services.

  • Lower the cost of healthcare with Tort reform. Then, make money available to educate anyone smart enough to be a Doctor. More Doctors means more competition for business - and lower cost.

Make insurance affordable with pre-tax health savings accounts. That would encourage folks to have $2,000 - $2,500 set aside to handle routine medical care. .

The Democrats don't give a rip about free health care. They just want to socialize our country. Don't let them!

  • Thanks, we need to fix medicare, medicaid, and social security before we take on anything else. Once these are fixed all we have to do is gradually expand them to include those that have earned it. I have worked and paid taxes for over 50 years & will do so for the foreseeable future, without ever drawing from the Government. If you haven't earned it you shouldn't get it. THANKS AGAIN

  • Thanks for the fine job that you (and your fine staff) do in representing (and listening to) us here in TX District 11, Congressman. We neither want or need a GOVERNMENT aka "Public" Option! Nor can we afford it! While we need some reforms, we do NOT need BIGGER GOVERNMENT. Rather, we need government to get out of the way! Semper Fi, Sir!

  • Keep up the good work. Thank you for keeping us informed. Bless You

  • Thank you for listening! I hope you will continue to fight for what is right and keep us informed. Gob Bless!

  • We do pay for Medicare - each person that receives it pays a premium. You would think we get it free the way people are talking. We also pay for it all the years we work, before we even start using it. If it was used correctly, it would probably not be almost used up.

  • You do know that funds from a number of social programs, including Medicare, were used to pay for the war in Iraq, right?

  • Your right, but look closer, mostly democrats have been raiding it for generations. That is why I am independent.

  • Generations? Medicare's only been around for 44 years, and republicans have had control for a good bit of it.

Don't think that being an independent, or a libertarian, or anything else automatically guarantees that your candidate will take the high road. Deals are made, games are played, that's how D.C. works.

  • Congressman, you were absolutely correct when you spoke of tort reform and pre-existing conditions. I would also like to add the allowance for people to get insurance from across state lines.

  • Thank you, Congressman Conaway. You DO speak for me. You are right on the mark, keep up the good work. The public option would be a disaster. Most agree that the health care system needs some major improvements (tort reform, portability, and no pre-existing conditions disqualifications). The public option, in any form-- co-ops or a "trigger" mechanism, would be a poison pill to existing insurance programs. Please continue to protect our freedoms.

  • Congressman Conaway: Put me down as one of your constituents FOR a public option. You represent a rural district, including many self-employed farmers and other workers. A public option, which could easily be paid for by participants (no one is asking for tax dollars to pay for this) would benefit the people of your district. My folks get Medicare and I am part of the Tricare system. Both work great and could be expanded. The Repubs need to act in good faith with our President.

  • Medicare is broke, check it out, the unfunded liability is currently 39 Trillion and going up. My wife and I are both eligible for Tri-care and choose private care. I nearly lost a close friend because her general practitioner refused to prescribe asthma medication because he did not believe she has Asthma, government health care at work. While they were visiting, she had and attack and nearly died before we could get her to an emergency room. They gave her Asthma meds and she was fine.

  • Thank you for the job you are doing and keeping us informed on where you stand for us.

Your "Townhall" meetings were informative and you did not hide whenyou finished but listened.

  • Mike,

Good work in Washington. Thanks for your service.
