I began learning some Russian and I find it... hmm, moderately easy, since it's similar to Serbian in many things. Arabic seems difficult, though, although I have a friend from Yemen who explains to me stuff about it, haha :)

if ь comes after a consonant, the consonant is spoken soft= palatalisized

and if there is an ъ after a consonant, it is spoken hard = not-palatalisized

it´s hard to explain the differnece between soft and hard consonants i don´t really understand it myself.

i think a consonant is palatalisized if it it is conflated with a "y" (as in year) sound.

Letter Ъ isn't used almost.

"Ъ + the vowel" is analog "Й + a vowel" - only "Й + the vowel" in Russian isn't used.

Between firm and soft consonants it is difficult to explain a difference. It is necessary to listen.

Consonants are softened before: И, Е, Ё, Я, Ю.

Firm consonants before О, А, Ы.
