  • Amazing how this wild Cockatoo looks healthy than the average caged Cockatoo.

Wonderfull to see they can take care for thereselfs that good

  • Hahaha. Thankyou i enjoyed that very much.. i dont know about you guys but the end of this reminded me of the end of Paranormal activity... The cockatoo bit the camera! As did the person in the movie! Hahaha! ;D

  • i have a cockatoo and i have to leave him at a friends for a week for a hoilday his 29 weeks old and i want to know how he will react

  • i have a magpie that keeps coming back :/ flys onto my shoulder and just sits in my neck

  • I would get that looked at.

  • you are so uneducated about the needs of parrots in captivity...

  • will a cockatoo die if it's out flying at around 10pm squawking

  • "Back off. I warned you sir. Back off...I said BACK OFF!" *attack*

  • some bastard at my school dropped a brick on and injured cockatoo.

  • haha

  • What are you, a dickhead?

  • Just to be shure, you are a fucking dickhead!!!!

  • birds in cages are just fine, provided that they are placed where they can get an adequate amount of attention/interaction.

Imagine going into a suburb or apt complex and setting all of the humans free.

make sure that caged birds get good healthcare, good diet, and lots of attention!

  • cockatoos arent vegetarians...they are omnivores and should be fed eggs or meat (preferrably chicken or turkey) if kept in captivity. most will enjoy mealworms too.

  • my cockatoo should feel lucky that i feed her pellets, sunflower seeds and her fav. tea

but when she gets mad she flips over her food bowls. D:<

  • did he peck the camera at the end? lol.

  • nothing wrong with a cage... its neglect that is the problem. My Cockatoo loves its cage. I always set it up different and hid things in there.

  • AcousticBruce....I am looking at getting a cocky today, that sounds like a good idea, keeps there mind active.

  • thats true when i first got my keet it always wanted to go back to its cage and went all the wya up to the top... it felt safe there. then when it got used to me he could fly around all he wants but his cage was home.

  • were is this

  • It's in the Botanical Gardens in the middle of downtown Sydney, Australia!

  • Where did you film this? Reminds me a bit of Centennial Park in Sydney...

  • Very close... but it's in the lovely Botanical Gardens...!

  • What do wild cockatoos eat? Are they strictly herbivores, or are they omnivorous? My 13 1/2-year-old Triton, Joey, shares most meals with me. He eats mostly pelleted diet, eggs, vegetables, fruit and pasta/cereal. Hates seeds! However, if I am eating something with chicken or tuna, he will eat that too.

I work at home, and he is out all day. He only goes in the cage to sleep. The two of us are very close. I think the trade-off is that birds that live with humans are protected from predation.

  • Wild cockatoos are vegetarians- 'though they certainly eat a varied diet- and even seem to enjoy a peck of dirt sometimes.

In Australia, Cockatoos don't really have predators: except people and their pets. Watching them play, squawk and have such raucous fun makes the thought of caging them tough: but I'm sure that some, like yours, do have a good life.

Personally, I think I'm just going to have to leave Canada and move to Sydney to get to hang out with Cockatoos!

  • sachkillam.....they can make a wonderful pet, I am going to have a look at a cockatoo today, maybe end up buying one. In the wild they can cause a lot of havock for farmers, and in town/suburbs they destroy tv arials, if you try and catch a wild cockatoo, they bite very hard and you never forget it.From a younging it takes 8 years to find out if there male or female. If I buy one I'm gunna teach him to swear:-)

  • good job getting that close and it turned into a fine video

  • Thanks! The cockatoos were awesome: they treated park visitors as equals: ie as if we were cockatoos too.

  • thats pretty cool

  • Thanks: I'm going to have to go back to Australia to hang out with them again!

  • weird how i watched this vid 5 months ago and now you reply

  • was that like a pigeon flock

  • Actually, mostly cockatoos. There's a large number which live in downtown Sydney and often hang-out in the Botanical Gardens (where the video was filmed). In the background you can also hear some cranes. In Cockatoos are Lovely 01, there is a pigeon which runs around in the frame for a while. But again, it's mostly just wild cockatoos... well... mostly wild: they pretty much put up with humans... considering us, no doubt, tame...
