Hello! I was one of the actors who worked under Shadow's guidance and instruction in this film. He has not heard back yet, but I am crossing my fingers and hoping that he gets in, as he is extremely talented at what he does and loves.
Work on adding to your extracurricular activities, whether it be sports or music or community service. For Shadow, and I (by extension), we love to film. If you already have something, stick with it. These colleges are looking at the whole individual.
Hey this really good. The photography is pretty well done. I'm applying to Emerson too. Check out my video and tell me what you think. I'm still working on editing a few rough parts. The video is on my page. Lone Man's Folly extended
Great great great film. Awesome job, I hope you get into your top choice! What camera was this shot on? Lenses? Great dolly shots too. Was there smoke in the door dolly scene? Again, great job.
Hey i thought it was amazing and the scenes were it was suposed to be serius really showed in the camera angles. I love the way you showed the toilet scene. Very clever using the fish tank. I have a challenge for you to see how good you are. I would like you to make a 2 min action film.... But there is a catch it has to be one take. No cuts all one video! Lets see if you can do it!
Good Question. His head is actually being shoved into a fish tank full of water. I was beneath the suspended tank shooting him through the clear bottom making it appear the camera is in the toilet.
This is so good! You are very talented! I love the look of your film and the concept! I want to apply to the USC film school next year, any tips on planning or producing a film? and how long did it take you to make this?
Thanks a lot! It took 4 months to make this film: 3 months of pre-pro, a 4 day shoot, and about a month of post. The key to a great film is to have a great story. USC themselves, in their prompt, tell you to create a short film with a BEGINNING, MIDDLE, AND END. Some kids just submit an excerpt which is instant failure. Create a compelling story with rich characters that ultimately do something that comes to a good climax. The schools care more about the story than the execution. Good Luck!
This is seriously really good. like, its great. Dude, forget school and just enter a few major film festivals lol. Put more work up and let us know if you get in!
It must have been a hell lot of work to put up all that camerawork, lightning and even special effects. And it's beautifully executed, great job guys!
Do you know if you got accepted?

Oh gotcha, so then what exactly were your export settings in final cut pro?
arrad49 3 months ago
In FCP7
File, export, using quick time conversion
I use the standard QuickTime Movie format
click options, uncheck prepare for internet streaming always
under sound settings, i change the quality from normal to best
under video settings, since I film in 24 fps, I don't change anything. However, if you film in any other frame rate, change the 24 to your frame rate.
under video size, I use either HD 1280 x 720 16:9 or HD 1920 x 1080 16:9 depending on the resolution I want.
Hope this helps!

great video! What did you guys use to edit and what settings did you export it with so that the video still looks crisp in 360p?
arrad49 3 months ago
@arrad49
On the T2i we used just normal sharpness, edited the film in Final Cut Pro 7, and color graded it in Apple color 1.5
