I remember asking around a lot on the net- and other times just searching without directly asking- and I've been told constantly that the Sega CD game roster is "God-Awful" (among other more offensive names that I don't want to repeat) from top-to-bottom, no exceptions. After seeing this video, I'm questioning all these peoples' judgement; almost every game I see here looks like it'd be a blast.
@ryarod: thanks. Yeah, I think there are some good Sega CD games too. The only problem is the machine itself. As one of the first CD-ROM devices it's only single-speed, meaning the loading times are very long, taking the fun off of almost every game.
Double Switch, Ground Zero Texas, Sewer Shark...the Sega CD was pretty much founded on the whole full motion video concept and these were some of the greatest they had to offer. I do think that Snatcher though was the greatest Sega CD game I ever played.
yup. for me it was all about Snatcher, Lunar(s), Heart of the Alien, Sonic CD, Popful Mail & CD versions of Final Fight, Earthworm Jim, Ecco, Shining Force GG... was always some random games i wanted to try as a kid, but never found when i finally had one
Trouble with the Mega CD was it never really had a killer app to justify itsprice tag (I think it was £200,don'tknow what the price wouldhave been in dollars, 350maybe?) which was considered very expensive at the time and it never looked much of a technical improvement over the megadrive/genesis.
I say an honerable mention should go to Ecco Tides of Time. Sure, the themes to some stages aren't as well as on the Genesis version, but the memory glyphs made for a nice addition to the game.
Time Gal, Road Avenger, Willy Beamish, Spiderman vs The Kingpin, Sonic CD, Monkey Island, Lunar 1 & 2, Dark Wizard, Rise of the Dragon, Popful Mail, Final Fight CD, Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2, Dracula Unleashed, Dragon's Lair, Shining Force CD, Snatcher, Vay and Silpheed is my list.
@boxerjoey39 your opinion i were only 4-5 when this was out, just started collecting but i think it were the price of it that made it a failure and of course the saturn around the corner.
i think the mega cd is great, if you have the right games. to me this has aged just aswell as snes and megadrive (apart from the video quailty)
I'm watching again just for the tunage, ha! ... These games were awesome... I was a massive fan of Snatcher (still think that needs a modern sequel), Thunderstrike, Lunar (one of the best RPG's ever), Eternal champions (which should have a new version out by now, damn it!).
@xanyleon: thanks for the compliments. In case you're interested: it's music from Lightening Force (aka Thunder Force IV), level 8. This MIDI is downloadable at vgmusic.com
SEGA CD is much better than SEGA 32x..but 32x came later? so weird.

No Android Assault, The Terminator or Lords of Thunder?
Well everyone's got different tastes, I guess.
Those are three of the SEGA CD's five best games in my humble opinion... do check them out!
