wow wtf? This isn't the original dub from the 1990's. When Tetsuo says "Kaneda" it sounds more like "Canada"! Lame. And yeah South Park did do a montage to this movie in Trapper Keeper, I don't really think they were making fun of it at all. The fact they saw this movie says a lot.

@dotdotdash2 It's the remastered 001 dub. and btw that's the correct way to pronounce kaneda. the old name says his name WAY wrong lol but if you watched that version first guess you get used to hearing them different. btw i have the original dub on my channel and the jpanese too :D

Early in the film you hear the doctor say he wants to give him capsules. he is referring to is the drugs that they give the people with powers to hold that energy potential growth back allowing it to grow slower and at a more steady rate. Tetsuo holds this raw pure energy inside him bigger then the energy a normal human would contain. because he stop taking the drugs his body is forced to evolve?grow to keep it inside mutating rapidly.

And the average hand gun bullet travels over 300 miles per hour so believe it or not even though you don't see it in movies alot gun shots usually will lift you off the ground on impact. force just blows you right off your feet and if you start rolling on the ground then your screwed haha

@tokyorider2019 You got it reversed. Movies tend to over exaggerate the effects of gunshots. If a gun had the power to knock a shootee off his/her feet, then it would have equal potential to knock the shooter off of his or her feet.

@tokyorider2019 Bullets (in hand calibers) do not generate the kinetic force required to knock a man sized target off his feet. Falling over from pain/shock is different. The idea that a pistol round, or even a rifle, will blow someone back has been disprove time and time again. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If the gun had enough energy to knock a target over at range, it would blow the gunner back as well.

The new dub is so poor in comparison ... And what really sucks is that the Streamline Dub wasn't remastered as an Alternate English Audio Selection for the Blu-ray release. So pissed! Looks like I'm holding onto my Special Edition DVD Release until the wise the fuck up. I might buy the Blu-Ray release for the 5.1 HD Japanese Audio, but for now I'll wait.

Seriously though, the addition of dialogue in some parts, because they think audiences wont understand what's happening ? Insulting really.

Out of all the gory rated R movies I've seen this will always be the most disturbing thing I've ever seen. And I've seen this scene alot and it never gets old. Still Akira will remain my favorite anime movie of all time. Plus the animation is downright amazing for 1989. Like the scene where Tetsuo makes akira come out of the ground, and that wasn't even SGI that was 100% anime.

Plus akira is 100% hand drawn cel animation. Raw, gritty, and old fashion. Also one thing i would also like to touch on is the music. also very beautiful. so yeah thats all i have to say about that lol.
