  • I still wanna know what they told Ryron

  • this guy talks like he is retarded..well actually both of them lol enunciate take english classes maybe its a hit to the head

  • @MrDasilva8383 go suck a man dong

  • haha so coool,

  • GENE

  • What did Helio say to Ryron?

  • @PeidoLord He said, "Pay more attention to details so that one day Matt Hughes does not embarrass you the he embarrassed your uncle Royce Gracie".

  • Yeah, the right philosophy is really the most important thing! No matter Ju-Jutsu or every day life or management!

  • @l4nz8 you want to see neat jiu jitsu philosophy look up "ralek gracie jiu jitsu," its a really nice street fight with Rener and Ryron giving good ass instructions.

  • Anyone know the two sentences Ryron's grandfather told him?

  • Comment removed

  • wonder if they sell Ryron's blue gi, looks sick

  • Tell us those 2 sentences!!

  • gracies practitioners must understand people are out to hit and hurt them one cannot perform an arm bar on somebody first round they must work the opponent and use violent strength before a logical technical approach can be taken (peace)

  • @industrialhemprocks submissions aren't exactly applicable to street fighting, so i agree with you there. takedowns and establishing full mount as quickly as possible is applicable though.

  • @agentapathy Submissions are applicable in a streetfight.. not reccomended but they are useful. break someones arm or choke them out. i doubt they they will continue to try to fight.

  • @Brazilianjj if it's applicable, yes. i know i'll stand corrected on my point. but maybe it's a personal preference of mine. i just dont like the idea of breaking some guy's bones as a finisher, but as a desperate attempt to finish the fight if i cant, then yes.

  • @Brazilianjj Breaking someones limb would be a last resort thing.. You can get them in a joint lock and make them cry like a bitch, threaten to break it. make them give up, im sure they will leave you alone after that. Choking someone unconcious would be useful though.

  • @agentapathy chocking someone unconcious or breaking someones joint wont make them want to stop?

  • BJ Penn....3 years?

  • @guardinginsanity OMG Yes when people talk about Philosophy they tend to use "philosophical language" GET OUT? But let me ask you how would feel if say you said "Well to get out of a full guard you could utilize a quarter nelson from a wizard." then I can say AWWWWWw i don't know what any of that shit means so you're just trying to sound smart!

So in lies another question if you don't know anything about Philosophy/concepts then why the hell are you trying to have a discussion about it? sigh..

  • @guardinginsanity No at least with me their is no confusion of terms here. You Sir are committing a fallacy of equivocation. You're treating the terms Relativism and Philosophy as synonymous, while using both terms interchangeably. I'm trying to show you that their is a clear (dualistic) distinction here. Also I'm telling you what you're boasting over is as I've stated a fallacious epistemic distinction.

  • OMG Gracie's I love you guys but please don't talk about something you really no nothing about. Philosophy "like Jiu-Jitsu" takes an extensive education and understanding to learn and comprehend. I would know cause I major in this stuff. Try Epistemology and Metaphysics for starters.

As for Philosophers Umm.. Kant, Mill, Aristotle, Hume, Sartre, Plato, etc..

    Hugs, em

  • @bananabread119 Philosophy simply means "love of knowledge." The gracies have a huge amount of knowledge in their field, and continue to pursue the most effective Jiu-jitsu techniques. Jiu Jitsu philosophy is just the love, pursuit and sharing, of jiu jitsu knowledge.

  • @guardinginsanity ahh No the root word for Philosophy means "Love of wisdom", but the practice or the application of Philosophy once again as I mentioned branches out into 3 main branches Metaphysics, Epistemology, Ethics. When ppl think of Philosophy they have this bumper-sticker mentality. Philosophy is SO MUCH more complex than what most ppl know. You can go into Aristotelian logic, Kantianism, Socratic schools of thought the list goes on and on.

But what Philosophy isn't is relativistic.

  • @bananabread119 Gracies here are using philosophy to mean a system of thought. There is a system of thought that is most beneficial for mastering jiu jitsu and that is what they are discussing. There is no law or force of nature saying the word philosophy can't be used that way. In fact it is used like this all the time. So why not lose the condescending attitude, be open-minded (like philosophers are supposed to be) and try to learn something instead of criticizing their use of the word.

  • @guardinginsanity Why not drop the attitude like you know what the f*** you're talking about. Don't f****** Strawman me and then act like I'm being condescending. Sorry but I'm not open minded my minded is filtered, I keep it that way so I can filter out the bullshit. But right there doesn't have to be a law of nature, but their are LAWS OF LOGIC!! Ugh!

  • @bananabread119 I'm impressed at how cordial you are. There are indeed laws of logic, but the title of the video is not "Gracie Logic", it is Gracie Philosophy. The word philosophy is often used colloquially the way the Gracies have used it here. If you have a problem with colloquialisms I feel sorry for you because you are going to be driven nuts (see what I did there? i used a colloquialism). Stop taking yourself so seriously and have a great day!

  • @guardinginsanity Yah I know what colloquialism means same as I know what the term "irregardless" means. Philosophy however is not a Colloquial term because its an Umbrella term having to do with all bodies of knowledge. i have no problem with the Gracie's saying, "well that's just our opinion or that's just our perspective on things". But I would however have a problem when we throw around the word Philosophy like its a convenient little adverb.

  • @bananabread119 Let me get this straight. You think Philosophy is "an Umbrella term having to do with all bodies of knowledge," yet it cannot relate to Jiu Jitsu? In this video, the Gracies are discussing what they believe is the best way to acquire Jiu Jitsu Knowledge. Knowledge acquisition is one of the main topics dealt with in epistemology. It might have been more accurate for them to say "Gracie theory on acquiring jiu jitsu knowledge," but "Gracie Philosophy" works just fine.

  • @guardinginsanity Ugh Let me get this straight! I stated that Philosophy is "an Umbrella term having to do with all bodies of knowledge", but yet I clearly stated before hand that Philosophy is NOT relativism.

Plato himself stated that if relativism where true then what would be the point of teaching? You can say X is a theory or a position held within Philosophy. But you cannot say that's our Philosophy or that's just their Philosophy. THAT Sir is a fallacious relativistic distinction!

  • @bananabread119 Basically our disagreement hinges on a linguistic problem. I think Philosophy can be used to mean a system of thought in conjunction with any subject, and you (it seems to me although I may be wrong) think Philosophy means THE system of thought pertaining to everything. Since language is a human invention, neither of us is right or wrong. Compared to the rest of the world one of us might be, but that would be relativistic wouldn't it.

  • Comment removed

  • @bananabread119 You did nothing to respond to my last point, you just blathered using philosophical jargon to sound intelligent. I hope you enjoyed this little argument as much as I did, it was great fun. Since we have a basic disagreement on how the word philosophy can be used there is no point in us arguing (I don't think it means relativism, it can mean a system of thought). And many philosophers say relativism does exist and that linguistic problems are the core of all dilema. Good day

  • the dude on the left, i have something to tell him,..Dude WHY DID YOU STIFF BE 100 DOLLARS BRO..HE CAME TO A RESTURANT IN REDONDO BEACH AND HE WAS WITH HIS STUDENTS, HIS BILL WAS 370, AND HE LEFT 270..AND HE AND HIS FRIEND LAUGHED OUTSIDE WHICH I NOTICED..IT SUCKS..I THOUGHT HE HAD MONEY BUT I GUESS NOT..

  • I also believe that it is very important to spar without the ego involved. I've noticed that at my academy there are many people who's egos are sky rocket high and when they either get tapped or dominated they send out a form of resentment towards their training partners, making it harder to get involved with them. I have also seen when the ego leads to arm injuries because they feel like not tapping when caught in a bad position. Any comments on that from someone else experience.

  • I WANT TO KNOW THE TWO SENTENCES!!!

  • These guys should have their own television show. It wouldnt even have to be about jujitsu.

  • These guys are so cool.

  • If you read the captioning - it's way off. I mean WAY the fuck off.

  • Comment removed

  • You guys are so correct! One of the only times I got my ass handed to me on the mat was when I brought my super ego along! I was really trying hard to beat my partner up one day. I was getting so angry and letting my ego get the best of me that he made me look as if I never wrestled for 4 years and taken BJJ for 2 years. And in the end my instructor said "who are you today Joe? Leave your ego home tomorrow"! lol

  • I love the Ryron blue Gi

  • I have the same Gi as Rener...now if Only my BJJ was the same

  • I have to say I really love and care for you my brothers, I have to say a long time ago they would not share they wanted 20% share 80% do. Thing is Moves are easy, it is the body position understanding, body mechanics, how you apply preasure, how you use your wieght, set ups, & bates. It this takes lots of Practices. My issue and thing I have learned over 20 years of Jui-Jitsu is the Gracies love the guard.. why?

  • When there grandfather was weaker than the master showing they had to work from that position. he ended up in the guard and in alot of times the weaker person will end up in that guard position. I feel this is same for me as a bridge is to wrestling it is a thing you should work on but if you dont end up on your back why work on that so much? I teach better takedowns and throws that force people to end up where I want. I teach out of that position since it is more of what I tend to fall into.

  • @MasterHatfield i agree with you and like that statement why not go for the takedowns and work on the submissions from the top thats what your saying right?

  • @IhateMEXILANA ya thing is if you make sure you dont fall into the guard point is why work from that position so much if you dont end up there? I force my position and fall info crossbody, and or take the back. That is really the big part there is a place for learning the guard but in RL in all the fights I have been in even with all my learning. I did not need my wreslting, Karate, or Jui-Jitsu in all the fights, the only thing I needed throw them on there head, Break his arm fight was over.

  • @MasterHatfield this video was about egoless training, why do you have to ruin the message field with your putrid message of rank arrogance. this message is sincere and it shows the sincerity of this family's Dojo's philosophy. Your message is certainly something i don't want to hear after being taught some deep worthy teachings.

  • @gnawaserge keep following my friend I trained with these guys when they happened to be brown and purple belts. All good bud keep following.

  • im the best white belt at gracie academy atleast my weight class lol

  • You guys are incredible for teaching things beyond the physical requirements. Simply incredible.

  • "we say everything we know"

"we dont hold back at all"

But they wont tell us two sentences.

  • you guys are great speakers, a lot of great views... one of my favorite things is you never say "uhhhh ummmm uhhh"... usually in a minute video people either edit it to cut them out or leave them, this in raw uncut video of just clear well thought out speach

  • "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"

  • this video is awsome!

  • Preach on! gjj = modifications. soooo true! thanks for posting guys.

  • That's why I really love Jiu-Jitsu. You can adapt it to yourself. You can create your own variations of it and nobody will came to you saying that you're wrong, 'cause, in fact, you make it work in all situations...

  • bjj is for smart people..

  • I love you gracies, no homo. well...maybe a little homo :) lol

  • @shadowcar88 lol that just cracked me up

  • @shadowcar88 so your a faggit right? lol

  • it's just a philosophy guys.

I enjoy these videos because they help students to keep things simple and focused

  • Good Stuff

  • Love the vid. You guys know what your talking about. Waiting for new movies. Subscriber from Poland.

  • @harzyk1 same here ;)

    Keep them coming.

  • You guys are awesome in what u do, and the way u have brought it to the rest of the world, always being humble and all about this beautiful art. Keep up the good work and your fans are for a lifetime. Wish something could be done in the future to introduce Jiu-Jitsu to my native country of Cuba, would love to see it really take off there. Much luv to u guys, be safe.

  • Since i started gracie jiu-jitsu my life changed in many way. A simple example is the problems in my life are fights and now i submit all my problems. I go for the finish. Jiu-Jitsu is much more than you think! Thanks to Rener and Ryron for helping me.

  • Good advice as always. Any chance we'll get a Koscheck/Daley breakdown vid?

  • lol "Gracie Philosophy," now they name and claim that this philosophy is theirs? A lot of martial arts school have this type of philosophy Gracies... Get over yourselves.

  • They are 100% correct. It's even more true when you have an issue that forces the modifications to happen. I have limited mobility and strength in my lower body so I have to modify everything. When I first started BJJ I wanted to be a guard player(that was what I saw on the internet) but I had no idea how or even if I could, now my guard is decent( not great admittedly and I realize it probably never will be) but I like to be on top these days anyway so it works out just fine.

  • i like 2 think of GJJ like sex. what works with 1 girl may not w/ another u have 2 refine ur technique n personalize it 2 your women, i mean opponent.

  • @spideycentz I thought I was the only one who used that analogy. Love your username btw I'm a huge spider-man fan.

  • @spideycentz its not called gracie jiu jitsu, its called brazilian jiu jitsu.

  • @mybloodrunscold007

you could'nt be more wrong its gracie jiujitsu

  • @rhdadrian @rhdadrian the only people who refer to bjj as gjj are gracies, their students, and outsiders who mythologize the family (i'm sure this is the demographic you belong to). i've trained bjj for 5 years and 99% of practitioners refer to their art as "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu". Furthermore, the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) hosts the largest gi based grappling tournaments.

  • @mybloodrunscold007 5 years? WOW, you're quite the expert! The reason the term GJJ arose is because the art has grown, evolved, and been altered; and GJJ refers to the traditional Gracie style of BJJ. Besides, who is it hurting? You? If 10th planet started calling itself. 10JJ that would be fine( and not actually a bad idea). Here's some advice for you: Don't be such a dick.

  • @mybloodrunscold007 The Gracie family refer to their form of Jiu Jitsu as Gracie Jiu Jitsu because Helio & Carlos developed their style from the Japanese teachings of Mitsuyo Maeda. Before Gracie Jiu Jitsu there were various forms of Japanese Jiu Jitsu/Judo. So shouldn't the family who invented a style, or significantly altered/adapted an art (however you want to look at it), be allowed to call their creation by the family name? Is that really too much to ask? Give credit where credit is due.

  • @mybloodrunscold007 ok retard so GJJ doesnt exsist and fairies are real go suck a fat 1 u idiot

  • @mybloodrunscold007 the Gracies invented brazilian jiu jitsu. and for the record. "bjj" usually refers more to the competition/sportive aspect of it - which i think is pointless because most of the movements aren't punch proof- and GJJ refers more to street fight applications not tournaments. If you don't like the Gracies then go challenge them or keep your narrowminded opinions to yourself.

  • @6XstringXsamurai ok at most Gracie Jiu Jitsu would describe what is now reffered BJJ up until around the mid 90's. After Rorion Gracie and his family showcased things at the first UFCS it became main stream and Gracie's were no longer the ones single handedly evolving art.

if you want more information consult the oracle i.e. the wikipedia page for the art is title "brazilian jiu jitsu". It would have been titled GJJ 15 years ago. No ego, the art and its name have evolved.

  • awesome!

  • You guys r great keep it up yall!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME insight on a persons ability. Makes me think about my technique.
