  • Chuck: this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Listening to it in HD Digital with headphones and tears are flowing from my days lived in Georgia...

    THANK YOU for posting!

  • Scarlet was so stupid!I really feel sorry for Rett and Melanie!

  • @MsAJ215 So then the truth is unacceptable? That's how slaves talked. Were they supposed to speak like Harvard graduates? Sometimes you have to just grimace and move on with your life.

  • shouldn't Max Steiner's (the composer's) name be posted somewhere on this video?

  • @redlaxmi Point taken, info added. Thx!

  • @chuckgary NP..nice orchestral bit I never heard from my favorite movie!

  • I'm 17 and I wish they would make movies like this again..this is without a doubt one of the best movies ever..masterpiece

vivien leigh 4ever <3 one of the best actresses and most beautiful ever <3

  • @fanofmussic

Words like that from my generation mean a great deal to me. Thank you so much.

  • Its a shame That They never Make Film's this good any more, the only film they have said is a 'masterpiece' in my time is AVATAR!.... : /

  • @JessicaDODDY

I personally hope for the sake of your argument that you don't agree with them.

  • @Flashmikko No Way! i Dont Believe that film quality has to have a date or time set to it! if a film is so great, then i believe it would stand the test of time. like this one has!

  • @JessicaDODDY

That is precisely the sort of answer I was hoping for and I agree with you one hundred and ten percent. I only saw this film for the first time quite recently and not only did I enjoy it immensely but I think it has held up very, very well to the test of time as in my opinion some of my other favorites such as Ben-Hur and The Vikings. I personally can't stand Avatar and eagerly await to see how that one holds to the test of time.

  • Everytime the music kicks in I get goosebumps all over my arms lol I love this movie!

  • e maravilhoso

  • I have watched Gone with the wind probably 10 times ...I know the lines by heart ...my hubby thinks I am nuts but I simply love Scarlett's character ...all the character's and the clothes =)))

  • The gowns created for Vivien Leigh for this film are in danger and need urgent restoration work. They are stored at the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas in Austin. Queries about how to help fund the resoration can be directed there. Donations as low as $10 are welcome to raise the $30,000 needed for the restoration project.

  • I've seen this movie at least 20 times, and it is a masterpiece in my opinion.

I've seen "Avatar" once, and won't see it again.

  • @onemarilynfan Hey, thanks for not ignoring my comment. I dont have a problem with Reese or Nicole but they are just not right for those roles. But the deal with remakes is that they will NEVER STAND THE TEST OF TIME. i.e. Charlie and the Chocolate F**kery what? A great example is the new AT&T commercial using the song from the ORIGINAL Willy Wonka in 1971.(contd)

  • 1939...GREATEST YEAR FOR MOVIES,...mr smith goes to washington, gone with the wind, wuthering heights, wizard of oz, the list goes on and on, why cant hollywood make pics like this anymore? I am so sick of the big budget garbage remakes of every tv show ever seen! It is all garbage. And I heard they are remaking gentlemen prefer blondes! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO ONE could EVER replace Marilyn! These ppl need to get a clue, and a NEW IDEA for a movie!

  • @onemarilynfan thry are also remaking How to Marry a Millionarie with Nicole Kidman.

  • @morchie717 WHAT A JOKE! I heard that Reese Witherspoon was playing her in gen.prefer blondes..HA! I like her, BUT, she is NO MARILYN, see, in my HUMBLE opinion, classics like this should never be remade, WHY would you need to? Now, if a movie sucked in the first place, MAYBE you could remake it, and try to improve it, but when something is perfect already, what purpose is it to screw up its memory, I think that hollywood is outta ideas, and they need to find some new ppl, with FRESH ideas!

  • i love the fashion in this era... i'd love it if this way of fashion gets back in this days... :) put me in a time machine...

  • @astigren01 OH AGREED 100%, ladies were LADIES and MEN were GENTLEMEN, when I see the way young girls dress today, it makes me SICK, you can't even tell the difference between a hooker and a teenager anymore, and I know I sound like some old lady, but I'm ONLY 34 (ancient to some ppl..lol!) and I grew up in the 80's and 90's and even tho that wasn't very long ago, the way ppl dress today has changed SOOO mch, Im glad I'm not a teenager in this era, even at school, they allow booty shorts!

  • @astigren01 If you find that time machine, gimme a call, okay? I'd be right there with ya!

  • Titanic is the best movie so far!

  • @shuha24 WHAT! ARE you serious? Yes, it WAS a good movie, but have you watched ANY movies pre-1980's, or are you a youngin' who thinks that if its not from the 90's or later, that its old?Cuz, let me tell you, I can name about a hundred (seriously)movies that are much better than titanic! Gone with the wind, is just one of them, maybe you should watch some of them, and THEN judge, a lot of ppl see an older movie, and have no interest, (con't)

  • @shuha24 But if you give them a chance, you would find a WHOLE WORLD of movies that are far superior to titanic, have you watched any cary grant, jimmy stewart, marilyn monroe, Kate Hepburn, BETTE DAVIS, movies, just try some, and believe me, you will think most of the movies from today, STINK! Just big- budget, garbage! They are mostly recycled 80's t.v. shows, or remakes, b/c obviously no one in hollywood has any creativity anymore! I dont think I can stand one more movie like dukes of hazzard!

  • @onemarilynfan I didn't mean All movies which are produced are more superior to the previous ones.I don't understand why we should say the old time movies are the best.Yes they were in a way.But they were few styles: western and romantic.

  • @shuha24 only western and romantic, what? There were musicals, dramas thrillers, film noir, just like we have today!

  • I agree with you karameldreem and I enjoyed some of your videos thanks. @ alinin- there is only one Gone With the Winds-some of these may be movie still shots.

  • VIVIEN LEIGH GREAT ACTRESS!!!!!

  • Are there 2 movies?

most of the scene i havent seen

    im confused =\

  • See again.

Except for promotional pics, it's all there.

  • @alinin no, but if you rent it out of the library or something, it's in two parts. as in, two videos because it's a 4 hour long movie. it's all one movie though, it's just insanely long.

  • @alinin Well Gone With the Wind is a four long movie, so there are two parts, if thats what you mean?

  • Mammy put it down in this movie. You go girl!!!!!! Mad props to Mammy.

  • there would be no scarlett without mammy so scarlett give dam mammy rules the the world.

  • The film; Mantovani Orchestra + all great stars. what a treat!

    thank you!

  • i watched this in school and we had to write a report about it. i loved that movie that instant i watched it!!

  • One of the best films have never made! My favourite!

  • Very well done! My favorite movie still!

  • mammy rules!

  • Interestingly, Hattie McDaniel, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of "Mammie" was born in Wichita, Kansas. The family moved to Colorado when she was five years old, and she had to develop a 'Southern Drawl" for this role. Her parents were former slaves, and her father fought in the Civil War. It remains, in my humble opinion, one of the best characterizations ever committed to celluloid!

  • this is one of my favorite movies and i have read the book seven times!

  • One of the best movies ever made.

I only have Love for both the movie and the book.

They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • @S4federer have you read the sequel to the book, SCARLETT? It of course, was not written by M. Mitchell, BUT it was written by a person, chosen by her estate, to write it, and, if you are one of those ppl like me, that was sad for scarlett at the end, and wanted it to continue, this WILL please you, very much, I don't wanna spoil it for you, but for a true fan, you will be pleased by the ending! Its a pretty thick book, and I read it in TWO DAYS! Major record for me for completing a book! TRUSTME

  • @S4federer OH, and btw, the made for t.v. movie "SCARLETT" is NOT very good, though, dont waste your time, the girl playing scarlett SUCKED, you can NOT have ANYONE else playing her except vivian leigh, it was total crap, but, like i said, the book answered all questions, and I am REALLY NOT a sequel kinda person, I HATE THEM, usually, but, I was left feeling so sad for her in the end of the movie, and by the end of the 2nd book, I was TOTALLY satisfied!

  • Mammy is my homegirl

  • This is the funniest thing I've read... LMAO!

    Mad props to Mammy!

  • MISS SCARLETT RULES!!!!!!!!

  • After watching this, I have to guy buy the DVD. Anyone know when t will be released in Blu-Ray?

  • Huh????

  • amazingly coolest fav movie

  • E tudo o vento levou...

Filme eterno e sempre de"hoje", devido á magia envolvente...

No fim , é sempre a beleza interior, que vence e cativa.

    A beleza inteior é eterna...

  • A beleza exterior e sedutiva no fim traz a morte da alma, mas a beleza interior ultrapassa o mundo exterior, essa beleza e eterna essa beleza e DEUS...

    Shalom

  • Belo comentario e cheio de " verdade":

Essa "beleza" è eterna essa beleza é Deus".

    Beleza interior é o Bem, e o Amor.

O bem e o amor são a energia mais poderosa do universo, porque o bem pertence a Deus que é dono do universo.

  • Speak english

  • Lovely Movie...

Though I really dont like the theme of the story its about crazynes and demolition of ones life but the all other things are just better that best. The acting, dresses, art direction, camera are just perfect.. Over all I like..i luv the movie...

and MAMMY is my fvt character in the movie :)

  • Alas, "crazynes and demolition" are historic facts, and that happens to be the setting of the mobie's story, originally based on a novel.

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Chuck

  • Exactly. I think ppl are ashamed to say they love this movie, because society is so PC they feel that in admitting to being a fan, they are somehow condoning slavery, an most blacks I know who have seen the film laugh at the portrayal of Mammy, when the facts are Blacks really did speak like her back then, most weer not educated. The movie is historically accurate in many regards, and ppl should just step back and enjoy it for what it is. A cinematic masterpiece, not an attack on any race.

  • i totally agree with u!! and i love this movie more than any other!

  • Get a grip. This was a depiction...but back in the 40's and 50's in the rural south Black folk did talk like this and in front of white people and it was horrifying! Ask me...I was just a little kid back then visiting my grandmother and she spoke to the white folk like that! I hated it. We were from up north ( Chicago), and it was years before I figured out why Grandma did this! Slavery is nasty and unpleasant .

  • @carliecurtis I know this is REALLY not p.c. but I am white, and have mixed kids, and spent a lot of time in the south, and to be honest, there are still a lot of black people that STILL speak like Mammie,I am sorry to say, I even heard a lot of whites who did, as well! My kids elem. teacher didn't even speak proper english, so, no offense to southerners, they haven't come very far, and when I lived in n.c., I always saw bumper stickers that said "the south will rise again" lol, when is this?

  • @carliecurtis "It ain't a fittin...it juss ain't fittin!...Oh I loved this movie...saw it for very first time last weekend, got it on blu ray, so watched it while camping in our trailer, it has qn sz bed, 36" HDTV, surround sound. I was in 7th heaven. Watched it twice!

Now THATS camping!...hey, we're in Oregon, raining and cold...43* for highs.

  • @ChryTears Really glad you enjoyed the movie, and it is a part of my heritage and not a single soul alive has ever enjoyed it like I have, have watched it over and over and I will till I die. Hate your cold, but down here in Bama its hot and muggy!

  • @carliecurtis When Clark Gable, who played Rhett Butler, learned that Hattie McDaniel wouldn't be able to attend the Atlanta premiere of Gone With the Wind because of the Jim Crow laws in effect at that time, he almost boycotted the premiere, himself. Hattie McDaniel talked him into going.

  • I have a dress like the one Scarlet has at that bbq thingy

  • thats gr8... could u plz upload pic of that wid U :)

  • curtains up majasty

  • wat do you mean, historically it is ridiculous? the book is so jistorically accurate in all the battles and generals. i learned a lot about the battles of the civil war from that book.

  • Post your question in a reply to the comment, or the person will never know about it - yt notifies you when there are replies to yr comments.

I'm not sure what lubingruby meant, either.

  • this movie is one of the timeless clasics:)

  • glorious dresses, glorious music, glorious love story and glorious movie. Historically, it is ridiculous but still a treasured movie.

  • Are u saying that it's historically inaccurate, or that you disagree with the nasty and unpleasant reality of slavery?

  • Truly the greatest film of all time, incredibly loyal to and respectful of its source. The epic novel by Margaret Mitchell its glorious adaptation to the screen by David O. Selznick are two amazing contributions to the world.

Could you tell me where you found the music used in your video? I thought I had ALL of the recordings of "Tara's Theme" available! Thanks for posting this.

  • Probably downloaded from Limewire or Ares (P2P networks I use). The .mp3 file came with the meta-info "Mantovani" but...not reliable. I'm no expert, but it does seem to have "Mantovani quality" sound. It's a 5min. medley of "Tara's Theme" and other soundtracks scored in the movie. I'll be glad to send you if you tell me where to (send me pvt message with e-mail address).

    Glad you enjoyed it!

    Chuck

  • Best movie ever made!

  • I am still hoping for the South to rise again -for the clothes .

  • Right? The clothes were brilliant!

  • they wore the same things in the north.

  • This is just so beautiful

  • i love this song and the slideshow goes perfectly with the music

  • WOW! Nicely done!
