dont we have bomb searching robots? why do all these military personell shoot or runover IED's? what if they stumble apon one that is like 50 times the size they expected and woop de doo, they just decide to run it over or shoot it with their tank. its not that i dont find it funny, its just i wouldnt want to hear in the news that several US soldiers died when they ran over and IED with their tank is all

@jtoatoktoe Actually, i think you may be wrong, The LAV-III Is similar to the Bradley andStryker the CV-90 has not been deployed in Afghanistan but they have done practices with it in Kandahar etc It is a Tank therefore it has tracks, The LAV-III is not a tank, it is a Bison which is a training tank but could easily be a personnel carrier like an A-3 tank

@tbandjz Bradley has tracks, and its not a tank. The CV-90 is a Swedish design and is classified as a Infantry Fighting Vehicle, with only 14.5 mm armor peircing protection with a 40mm bofor, 35mm, or 30mm cannon, depending on version. Norway and Denmark have also deployed them in Afghanistan. Tanks have far better armor, which can be ratted at over 600-700mm thick depending on whats on it. and much larger guns like 120mm Cannons. Canada's only tanks are German Leopard 2's.

@tbandjz Those are not Tanks. They are Armored Personal Carriers/Fighting Vehicles. They are very different from what is classified as a Tank.. A Leopard 2 is a Main Battle Tank, like the Abrams, Challenger 2, Merkava, T-90, T-72 and others.

@tbandjz M113's are armored personal carriers, designed to carry a squad of soldiers into the battlefield. It'll protect against small arms fire but that's about it. They also have many varients such as Command and Control, Ambulance, TOW Launcher, mortar launcher, smoke and other varients. Its a old yet popular vehicle, in use with many nations and police forces.

@HigherPoker The only funny thing is we were winning in Vietnam but the Democrats got into offices and decided to pull out of Vietnam. In a full fledge war the US is a power house in conventional warfare but we can't seem to adapt to 'playing dirty'. Remember, The french got there ass handed to them in Vietnam worst then we did and Russia in the 1980's got there ass kicked in Afganistan also. Its hard to win a war when you don't know what the enemy looks like and the enemy knows the land better

@360deeman actually history shows the U.S. is very good against Guerrilla Tactics, The U.S. lost Vietnam because politicians ran the war, not the generals. George H. Bush made sure the military ran Iraq 1 and you see what happens when Generals run the show.

Soldiers trained to kill never should have been expected to be police officers right after the falls of Saddam. The Combat was a success....the aftermath was a disaster.
