  • Its amazing how you get 408hp off that stock engine like that...Im getting a 20G but am afraid of installs because I been to told so many so many things about upgrading my DSM. Most were previous DSM owners and said that if I installl the 20G my engine blow and shit. But I see you kickin out 400+ on a stock enigine, what the fuck so it can be done??

  • @djay102687

As long as you have supporting modifications and a proper tune, you'll be just fine at 400 WHP. If I had cams and a better intake manifold back then, I think I would have been right around the 470 WHP mark. This same 7-bolt has surpassed 600 WHP now, but on forged internals.

  • @99GSTracer Yea i believe that you have a nice free flowing exhaust and a good intake which is helping relieve alot of strain from restrictions and etc... but i know what you mean..

  • just pump gas ? or is there alch injection with it I never understand why people say on pump gas then i find out theres also alch injection or something over here we have only 92 octane

  • @barnchips

I never said anything about pump gas. Read the info. And no, no meth/water injection in this video.

  • Beautiful eclipse

  • what type of mesh is that?

  • i tought an eclipse had stock AWD.

  • @MrJeffrey733 Just GSX was AWD, the GST and all the N/As are FWD.

  • Car would be nice if it had a stock look to it with some nice rims. Not a fan of body kits or stickers, other than that cars great.

  • OMG !!! this Car is so perfect!

  • This iz weak I made 470hp on 50trim pumpgas stock motor/tranny 27psi

  • Nice...

  • This car is AWD GSX. But, dynoed in a two wheel drive.

At the same time this is his old setup.

  • This car is AWD GSX. But, dynoed in a two wheel drive.

  • Comment removed

  • @Frenki93

    Seriously? lol

    GST = FWD + 4g63t

    GSX = AWD + 4G63t

    GS = FWD + 420a

    RS = FWD + 420a

And my GST was converted to AWD a few months after this video.

  • @99GSTracer

    whats it cost to convert?

  • @99GSTracer hey how hard was it to convert your gst to a gsx? did you need to make some custom stuff or did you just swap gsx parts into the gst and bolt it in?

  • @99GSTracer dude a 420a motor with no forged internals or any prep for a turbo would blow itself apart if 27psi was put to it. mine is only tuned to 23 and its not safe with the stock headers.

  • @jboy3219

Who said anything about a 420a engine?

    Take another peek...

  • @jboy3219 you have headers on your Talon huh?....nevermind...I'm not even going to bother with this one...

  • @99GSTracer So how did it only take you "8 to 10" hours to convert? Fabricating motor and tranny mounts and bolting up all the AWD components (driveshaft, front and rear diff's, beating a tunnel out for the driveshaft) suspension, wiring harness, computer, relocating the gas tank seeing as how it's on the opposite side. i could keep going. You must be god or something lmao

  • @Frenki93 learn your DSM dumbass

  • @Frenki93 you sir... need to stick to your honda's

  • @Frenki93 LMFAO!!! Your a complete dumbass. GST is FWD turbo. GSX is AWD turbo. GS is a slow ass piece of shit 420a.

  • @jkonn7 nah not really, the 420a seems like its more reliable, but it wont get you the same hp numbers as the 4g63t, but its a good little engine for a daily driver. i test drove one once that would chirp the tires in third gear, which i was very suprised about, but its not a bad motor

  • Questions : what limit to hp on a front wheel drive car is there before you need to put bigger and fatter tires on the front? aaaand how bad is your torque steer with 403 whp? jw! thanks for your time xD

  • @SomaComa89

You'd have to addres traction issues with 300 WHP. At 400 WHP, I was spinning through 3rd gear with an LSD. I don't knowabout wider tires. I gave up on FWD right after this trip to the dyno. This car is AWD now, and it's been one of the best mods I've done to it so far. Torque steer wasnt bad at all with a Quaife LSD.

  • @99GSTracer hey thanks for the response! i was asking because i would like to restore a 2g eclipse one of these days and was not sure if i should got gst or gsx ^.^

  • @99GSTracer

how much work is in turning the gst into an awd?

  • @jeepinjay1

It's about 8-10 hours of straight work if you have a nice garage with a lift and the know-how. It's worth the work, thats for sure.

  • @99GSTracer

all right man thanks i know what ima do with mine now

  • @99GSTracer money wise???? can u just slam the transfer case to the tranny or the tranny is totally different?

  • @SomaComa89 it depends on the weight of the car, the suspension setup, ture used and even surface driven on. but right around 4 is where you want to go to a bigger tire or different profile

  • btw do you think I could hit 400hp with a 18g?

  • @kouruleoblaze, it depends on a lot more things than just your turbo. a 16g will happily run in the 400 range, it's whether or not you've modded the ECU/fuel system that really decides if you're going to hit the mark or not.

  • @bleachworthy alright so with a performance chip and a full fuel system I could definately get 400 out of a 18g, Cause thats what i'm aiming for here 400 on a 18g

  • @kouruleoblaze yes, go with DSMlink, it really unleashes the true power of the stock ecu. you will want to get an AFR meter (air fuel ratio) for tuning, a wideband o2 system and a fuel pump rewire and upgrade. you can definitely get 400 from an 18g, that's a pretty good size turbo for this motor IMO

  • @bleachworthy how much do you think all of it will cost meh?

  • @kouruleoblaze I'd say $1,200 to $1,400 at the cheapest for parts, if you already have the 18g. most expensive is the DSMlink, that may run you up to $600 including ecu services

  • @bleachworthy I see, alright thanks. I'll have to start saving!!

  • um cú

  • You could get so much out of that 50trim. I'm sure you've already axcessed it since this vid is so old

  • @kouruleoblaze

Yeah, had I had cams and a nice sheet metal intake manifold, I'm sure I could have made another 75-100 HP. But yes, I've long since exceeded this power level.

  • @99GSTracer how much would you say cams add to your hp?

  • i think i saw you on dsmtalk?

    arent you biturbo now?

  • @techdeckpwns

Yeah, I'm running 2 turbos now. I don't get on Talk much, but I'm on Tuners almost daily. Google "compound turbo dsm", and you'll find my Tuners thread on it.

  • @99GSTracer

what boost do u run with 2 turbos?

  • @tpvalley

    42-43 psi currently.

  • @tpvalley 2 turbos on a 4 banger, suuure.

  • @bleachworthy

better just to use one large vnt.

  • how is it that u can run 32psi and be fineee on tht 7 bolt, and i ran 15psi and mine spun a rod bearing =[

  • @baseballstarjc12

It's all in the tune, I suppose :-)

I'm gthe guy that had rarely had any part fail. I've blown a differential and bent some rods, but that's about it. I've never even blown a headgasket, and I'm running 40+ PSI now. Maybe I'm just lucky.

  • @99GSTracer haha yes indeed keep that motor and guard it with ur lifeee

  • what type of ex. manifold is that

  • @sideshow23

This was an OBX ramhorn header. Basically a cheap copy of the Full Race manifold. It was a decent manifold for the price, and I never had any problems with it, but I definitely did move on to bigger and better things.

  • nice gst. i make 300 and just run 16lbs with an upgrades fuel system and TD05 turbo manifold. but the car looks clean.

  • so what are the mods you have on the car on this video. I just bought one but the engine is completely appart. I'm halfway on the built and it has a turbo, intercooler, pipping and BOV upgrade but I don't know what else I need for it to run good with that upgrade.

  • Whoa. I just heard this video and I thought my lawn mower was going wild.

  • pos all around couldnt beat a honda lol jk, man i miss that car, i rem when it was still a gs-t, u did a shit load of work to it, i know 403 is old as heck whats it doing now i heard rumors of 650 or so? hope everythings going good with man been a while yall need to come down to pensacola and show these rich kids how to race

  • oh that weak pos not even worth talking haha jk jk, paul thats things a beast hows it coming with it been a while since i talked to ya i moved to pensacola fl, hope the cars doing good and that twin set up is treating ya right

  • coryx7 is a peepee head

  • coryxcorrels is a peepee head

  • Tracer What Kind Of Body Kit Do You Have On That?

  • bet that handles shit

  • Nice numbers man.

Why is it though that everytime somebody puts up videos with a 2G the topic of crankwalk comes up. FFS people, get a life. No need to bring it up, especially when you have no idea just what it is in the first place.

And people have made far more power on stock internals and drove it for 100s of thousands of kms like that.

  • stock internals @ 27-32 psi?

    idiot.

  • Idiot? The car ran great. Never even a hiccup. Those who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it, nor should they degrade their accomplishment. Plus, anyone who knows anything about boosted cars knows that "PSI" level is not directly relative to cylinder pressures. My compressor wasn't very large, so 27-32 psi isn't too detrimental.

  • 2 "thumbs down" on my last comment. Guarantee they don't know much about the Eclipse.

Okay, but don't cry on youtube when you crankwalk, if you are completely on stock internals.

  • Crankwalk has nothing to do with making healthy power on stock internals. My block is a '99 block with the revised multi-piece thrust bearing. Crankwalk isn't in my car's vocabulary.

Also, this video is old news. The car is now AWD, twin turbo'd, and the head and block are built.

  • There ya go.

  • @99GSTracer Wow, This idiot just said you were going to crankwalk a 99 eclipse!!! :D No matter how many stupid things I read online theres always some clown out there ready to top the last guy... Damn, I just went to his profile, he actually owns an eclipse too & doesnt know anything at all about his pedigree :( It truly is a damn shame.

  • @coryx7correls wow your a fucking moron, stop talking about dsm's you obviously don't know shit about them.

  • Suck a dick.

  • @coryx7correls When have you EVER Seen a crankwalked 99 Eclipse??? Never in your entire life. You are a damn idiot.

  • next video show some numbers =]

  • I would agree, the gsx has awd which makes it more fun to drive. It also makes it worth moding.

  • I would go with the GSX. Their both the same speed. Gst is lighter because less components.

  • GSX would be your best bet, first the gsx is all wheel drive, the gst isnt thats pretty much the main difference. it might be faster due to that, and really a good project car since insurence wont be high = more money for mods. it will turn heads if it looks nice, or put a bov or a nice hi power exhaust that would sound great

  • im gonna get my GST up to 600WHP within a few years i hope with out spray but we will see

  • I was expecting more of a run.didn't even really get past first gear

  • The video was shot all in 3rd gear...

  • ah. so how did you get her to 400whp? I want mine to go that fast :p what mods did you use??

  • the engine mounts are fu... up need new solid ones nice car i got one too i am goin to the 400+hp

  • It had Prothanes on it in this video. It now has solid aluminum roll stops.

  • 400 hp is nice man but like supramk4 said crank walk is a pretty big issue but if you stay on top of repairs and don't push it all the time the motor should last you awhile

  • Are you even a DSMer? Or did you just hear about crankwalk from someone 10 years ago?

Crankwalk is the last thing I'm worried about.

  • yeah thats funny how overrated crankwalk is ...people who do own DSM know that fact... im running near 160,000 miles...

  • i worry more about my gst breaking the timing belt crankwalk can be fixed easy

  • what parts does crankwalk damage? i'm assuming all of the internals and the block. "can be fixed easy" if you have the money to buy a new block and some new internals. and if ur internals were aftermarket then ur fucked

  • seems not days to many people are wasteing there time crying about crank walk .... how about drive ur car have fun when it happens ..if it happens o well rebuild or junk the fucken car atleast you had fun with it ....unless you would rather drive to church and back and spend the rest of ur time bitching about it....

    just my .02

  • Cute car.

  • Neat adjective.

  • i have a 99 eclipse gst motor build up bored .50 over with full exhaust and stock turbo running 26 psi and it runs great and pulls fucking hard but i have no idea how much horsepower i am getting anyone got an idea?

  • use your butt dyno!!!

  • 1) you dont have a built motor with a stock turbo

    2) stock turbo cant hit 26 psi

    3) you didnt get a built motor and not dyno it...

  • its really hard to believe that your stock turbo is runny 26psi

  • i was thinking of getting a gsx but i heard that there not that reliable anyone kno if this is true?

  • its a dsm lol, but its based on how the previous owners took car of and serviced the car, not the car itself

  • Anyone who is telling you that is full of themselves. Yes there are weak links in the system mainly "crankwalk". Look it up. I know one guy selling a GSX auto with 170k miles on it, never been modded. And has the original engine.

  • I saw a remote control car replica of this GST at a Walmart, few years ago

  • I run E85, 110 octane.

  • how much did it cost to do that to the engine? or get it close to that?

  • ill second that...motion little bit ricey, nice motor though, but i wonder how long it will be goin on that stock 7 bolt, before i worried about that body id worry about get 6 bolt.. nice car tho.. props.

  • dont say that as 6 bolts walk as well, my buddy has walked 3 6 bolts and each time he rebuilt it all new and it still walked. yes mitsu used sub par thrust bearings in the 2g 7 bolts, but it doesnt mean that it will blow up.. any car and or motor can have many issues. its all based on how you care for the car and how you drive.. i have a 7 bolt 2.4l SOHC galant with a b16g and i have had no issues yet

  • Nice ride, I've got a 97 GSX auto with a 7 bolt. Did you have the stock bottom end?? How long did the motor last at the horse power range??

  • dude its fast and the furious of course :)

  • yet im sure it looks better and is faster than whatever ur driving.

  • who gives a shit when itll beat the shit out of almost anything that pulls up next to it. id drive that even if it had 250whp

  • To determine your proper fuel we need to know what turbo your planning to run and your horsepower expectations.

  • What exactly do you have? You say 3", but is that a custom 3" pipe and a bought muffler? If so what muffler, or just which exhaust did you buy? I'd like something that'll free up flow without being obnoxiously load like an Apexi N1.

  • I live in MI. We sell Sunoco where I work. We have three 500-gallon tanks sitting on the side of the building.

  • are you telling me that on the other side of the country they are selling high octane fuel at gas stations! that is awesome man here in california we have to either order our race fuel, get it from the track, or put in octane booster :(. Highest we get is 91...ocasionally i'll come across a gas station that says 92 :P

  • yeah, you guys out in calli do miss alot performance-wise.

theres a place in fargo that sells race gas at the pumps, you have like 4 octane choices as well. lol.

all the way up to 120 octane i think, which is Outrageous

  • could you help me out im tryin to reach this power range on 93 octane pump gas and idea?

  • I don't get it I have like 220 hp with my gst, but because its fwd, I get so much wheel spin and lose time. At 400 hp how do you get traction? Do you know anything to stop the spin? thanks

  • Best combat against FWD traction loss = AWD swap. It really wasn't too difficult to do either. When I was on my way home from this trip to the dyno, I could rip the front tires loose @ 70 mph on command. It's neat the first couple times, and after that it's disappointing. AWD swap was my best mod thus far.

  • Yes your very right i own a Turbo GS and a mirage Coupe with a 4g63T swap. the mirage had bad problems with the swap at first i mean i could bust em all the way threw 4th the kind of power for the mirage wasnt good, so i took the rear end from an Evo 6 i bought and imported from japan i FINALLY meshed them and now the rage doesnt want to bust em loose at all. the GS-Turbo however i lowered the front to give it an aggressive stance and wielded the rear end makes for stiff ride. n better traction

  • i own a mirage and i was thinking about the sawp so its not worth it??

better off buying a 1999eclipse gsx uh

  • no. the mirage handles better with the 2500 dollar AWD/Evo6 conversion. it runs smoothe now. the 99GSX will run you just about as much as an AWD Mirage will i think i spent 11,000 on engine/awd not counting body so. it IS worth it. but if you stay FWD its not. itll still be fast from a roll but good luck launching

  • yoo sick car it looks kinda rice wit the graphics on the side but at least it has sick power

  • Stock block and head, stock cams, stock intake manifold and throttle bodt, 3" exhaust, 50-trim turbo, tubular header, FMIC, 2.5" IC piping, 850cc injectors, Walbro 255 pump, dsmlink, ACT 2100 clutch and Fidanza flywheel. That's pretty much it for power mods. This is an old mod list though. The car has since been completely gone through and is expected to put down 550-600 whp now. I'll be taking another trip to the dyno this fall to find out though.

  • Stock internals?

  • Sounds great, how much did that all cost?

  • hey man i have a 97 gst im getting my rebuilt 7 bolt back next week i was just wondering for fuel mods could i just get away with the 255 pump 650 injectors and dsm link with wide band is that all i need or do i need the rail with the FPR and all the other goodies any suggestions thanks?

  • have you ever thought of removing the blitz bodykit for the OEM kit? it looks so much better IMO.

  • Yeah. I've been looking for an OEM front bumper cover for a couple months now. But to no avail.

  • Your tune is way lean. DSM's like to be 11:1 AFR

  • No, it's not too lean for 110 octane leaded fuel. If I was running pump gas, then yes, I'd have to fatten it back up. I logged zero knock in these dyno pulls.

  • Didn't know it was on 110

  • my cummins would waste it and for 30000 less

  • Prove your Cummins does 150+ mph and we'll talk.

  • I'd be VERY surprised if this guy had 30000$ into it. I wouldn't be surprised if he had less than 2000$ into it.

  • i think he means heavy car....especially for an import. Before I owned mine I always thought they were so light

  • Heavy in this case is synonymous with rigid..Hondas arent made to be race cars..thats why they are lighter...less rigid. Id take my 97 GST over any Honda (Less NSX) anyday! cheers,

    -M

    myspace dotcom/sownband

  • thats a good point...rigid. I really never knew how to react to people when they gave me shit for my car weighing so much compared to their tin piece of shit hondas and stuff.

  • exactly!! (new) GTOs are heavy as hell but they fly..400 hp moves anything..the roads in australia (since they are really monaros and made there) are shit so they have to be strong platforms to holdup...just like our clipses...;)

    -M

  • LOL you can't compare an LS2 GTO to a eclipse in ANY way besides being heavy as lead. Plus GTO's can be Torque monsters witha little bit of work and a little suspension work goes a long way in putting it to the ground.

  • I didnt.

    -M

  • very nice car but can you pass smog check

  • At the time this video was shot, I had A/C and all emmissions equipment. It's all since been removed. I'm not sure if it would pass becaue I've never had it tested. It's not required where I live.

  • nice dsm...keep it spooling

  • this is a truck

  • nice

  • new cams = mean as fuck

  • The car now has a fully build bottom end, Magnus sheetmetal intake manifold, ported head, larger throttle body, cams, and soon to be larger turbo. I'll be shooting for around 550WHP in the summer of '08.

  • Can we see a video of what the E-clipz looks like now?

  • damn thats a nice looking eclipse!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How long did that last? lol

  • They last if you keep up with the maintance. Just like any other Hi performance car.CHECK OUT MY DSM VIDEO! 500+HP!!

  • I agree. I'm in the process of doing an AWD swap right now. The next time the engine fires, it will have power going to all four.

  • Hey man and what did you have in the 1st 3rd gear video, turbo, injectors, etc, Thanks.

  • Back then, I had the turbo, FMIC, and basic boltons like exhaust, ACT 2100, etc. I was running stock injectors @ 14 psi and only tuning with MAFT. Alot has changed since then. :-)

  • 400 hp + front-wheel drive? what a waste of power...

  • is that a stock turbo or did you upgrade and to what??

  • Of course is a upgrade moron, the t25 is the size of my left nut

  • tru that^
