I live in Houston TX. I always thought this really happened in real life till I remembered the other day all I talked about to Jim Siedow (the actor in both TCM 1 and Part 2)... I did ask him if this was a true story and he said no ... that it was based on the true story of Ed Gein... I was able to find Jim's phone number, since he lived here in Houston, TX, a year before he passed away in 2003.But I was always so scared b4 that thinking this was true since I lived N TX!

there was a massacre in 1973 in texas. the killers name was thomas hewitt. their was 5 ppl killed and 2 officers. but in the movie they show him making masks from ppl faces and and killing them in horrible ways. they got those ideas from ed gein. but the massacre was real. they just decided to use some ideas from ed gein to make the movie more entertaining. but the massacre did happen, it just didnt happen how the movie shows it. and dont trust wiki!

There was a Leatherface, but not Thomas Hewitt, it was Ed Gein who lived in Wisconsin. And he only ever killed 2 people (Well, that's only what the police could prove) both with a gun. But he did wear a skin mask and even a skin suit with nipples and noses and other bits stuck to it. But all these body parts he got from grave robbing although there were supposedly people who went missing around that area during the time he started his...weirdness.

Its not based its inspired by true events, cant believe how gullible some people are in believing this actually happened its strange really.
Inspired means that only a very small proportion of this is fact the rest is just to make it a good horror film.
If you want some real facts about what happened look up Ed Gein, thats where it will state the actual facts on the A&E biography on youtube.

Edward Gein was physically and emotionally abused at young he was borned around 1940s and thats what caused him to kill people and collect their ears, eyes, limbs, skin as different body parts. It's something like taht, just that they neeeded to add chainsaw into the movie to make it like a movie... check out wikipedia...
