How do you know Griffey didn't use steroids? I would guess he did. Look at the numbers during and after the '94 strike, most everyone juiced up the power. Frank Thomas is about the only hitter who has Hall of Fame number and was already 6'5" 260-275 already as a rookie.... he did it the right way. He could hit and didn't need that bullshit.

Steroids do not make a player a "better" hitter. However, age is something that causes all players to go downhill come nearing 40. Steroids helped Bonds retain extreme muscle mass as he approached 40. Without them his power would have dropped.

He would barley hit the ball over the fence, but aaron always said that it doesn't matter how far you hit the ball, as long as you hit it over the fence. You don't get anything extra for hitting a 450ft bomb compared to a ball that just goes over the fence. A home run is a home run. A-ROD (another steriod user) is more than likely to break the record. But if Albert Pujols can stay healthy and good, he should break it.

How do you know Griffey didn't use steroids? I would guess he did. Look at the numbers during and after the '94 strike, most everyone juiced up the power. Frank Thomas is about the only hitter who has Hall of Fame number and was already 6'5" 260-275 already as a rookie.... he did it the right way. He could hit and didn't need that bullshit.

@adonley77 I am talking about power numbers and Frank had the HR's and stature already.... took Griffey a little while to put up power numbers early in his career. Then after he did, and hitting almost 60 HR's a couple years straight, he went to the Reds and seemed to be always injured, on the DL frequently for something. I'm not saying he did take steroids but he had a tough time recovering from injuries as a Red. They both could hit when healthy. You still have to make contact with the ball.

I still think that Hank Aaron is the home run king. Also I don't think there would be that much debate about it if Bonds wasn't such an asshole to people. A lot of people hate him and still do because he was an all-around dick. And also I agree if Ken Griffey Jr. remained healthy throughout his entire career he would have had the home run record. Some people don't remember how great he was before all of the injuries started happening to him.

Although I am not a Giants fan in the least , I don't think that it is fair that people are saying that he should not get credit for what he did.
First of all, even if he did not take steroids, he still probably would have it 500+ home runs. Steroids don't just magically give you the most home runs in history, it also takes skill. Just look at all the other people who took steroids (not close to Bonds).
Also, Bonds was only 65 hits away from 3,000!
He should come back for hit #3,000.

Steroids do not make a player a "better" hitter. However, age is something that causes all players to go downhill come nearing 40. Steroids helped Bonds retain extreme muscle mass as he approached 40. Without them his power would have dropped.
Personally, I don't care. More and more men are taking testosterone as they age because it keeps you healthy. Keeps your body functioning like it did when you were young.
I'm not a Giants fan, but to me, he is the home run king.

No doubt the steroids allowed Bonds to probably get 150 more home runs than he'd of gotten without them. The entire league was rotted out with them tough. Bonds was facing pitchers on roids.
Babe Ruth was hitting home runs when the outfield fence was 450' away. Hank Aaron was hitting them when the fence was 400'. You could easily say that a solid 200 of Aaron's home runs would not have been homers had he played on fields the size of the ones Ruth played on.

You don't understand, Barry Bonds used to be an athletic, all-around player who never got credit for the amazing things he did. He hit a number of home-runs, got a shit load of stolen bases and doubles too. While people like Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire kept getting credit for hitting home-runs and thats it. He was angry and sad that he and his father never got the credit they deserved, so, he set out to hit the fuck outta the ball for years...Who cares if he did 'roids, he's a hero, fuck you.
