Man, I'm not a drummer, but I love AAF and this song especially. It's so syncopated and I know it's not easy to play... You did it justice and Mike Cosgrove would proud of you !
'id so have to agree its insane! sticks and stones is another song i'd like to see covered.. i would if my camera worked :) a joy to play^^ his drumming really flows with the music
Very nice job. Thats a RIDICULOUS song to play. I give you A+ for being able to get through it. The technique just needs to polished , some hi hat stuff is really intricate in that song (especially in the bridge). The reps will help you to feel it more, rather than to be thinking, here comes this part, dont forget the china, etc. All in all thats really spectacular. You should be proud.
First of all, you're a really good drummer. It looks like you have the majority of the song down. I see you posted this a year ago..did you learn new parts for it?
Secondly, great song. It's amazing that I never realized how intricate the drumming in this song is.
dduuddee. you did such a good job on this man. i agree about you saying that it is a buttload more complex than it at first seems. this is the best cover by far of this song that i've seen. aaf rules man!
Nicely done mate! You sound almost there to me ^_^ For the tom part, although I dunno if it is right but it sounds ok, try doing (H=high tom, S=snare,HH=hihat) H,H,H,H, S,S, HH,HH, H,H, S,S, HH,HH, H,H,H,H,H,H,H,H, S,S, HH,HH etc. etc. Try it out... hope it helps ^_^
that bits definitely not right that im playing hehe. I just took a reasonable shot; getting the bell groove was the main thing :P i'll give that a shot ;)
yeah but sadly people don't tend to 'get' alternate and amazing rock. Anthology will have sold better solely because it had a Michael Jackson cover on. What a great band; didn't get anywhere near the success they deserved
I agree totally. I would have thought they'd get some lasting royalties off of that album but maybe it's all going to Michael Jackson. Here's something sick, Sting makes 2k a day off one song- "Every Breath You Take." Sadly it's all about hit songs to make a good living in music.
Agree. I've been listening to Anthology and Up In The Attic a ton lately in the car. Extremely talented band, I absolutely love them. Too many people only know them for Smooth Criminal.
first of all, very nicely done bro. aaf never really got over the hump of being huge and i think theyre freaking awesome. cosgrove is a very underrated drummer as well. i met him once and he literally wrote out drum tabs to 3 songs for this guy. long story short, aaf is amazing and you did it right bro. you should make more videos of there stuff.
Agree with everything you said, they are so so good. Thanks for the kind comment, will be doing more AAF, watch this space. I did actually link this one to Mike on myspace, probably didnt look to great to him, but he said it was fun to see someone else play it :)
haha, i couldn't honestly say that was my primary concern in this video ^^ as i say in the description, this is by no means perfect :P just to give some idea of the main groove :)
Hey! That was fucking amazing! The first time i heard this song it drove me crazy hehehe. Really, and i love the lyrics too. I've always wanted to see how to play that 'mess' XD. Thanks, really, for the video.
yeah, that was a part I'd overlooked until i had the main groove down. I was just playing the toms with similar sticking to that bells so... yeah its a killer.
well yeah i learned it by myself, the only thing other i used to help was a 20sec clip on AAFs dvd Busted which just showed me that he plays the cowbell with the left hand.
Other than that it took about 2 months once i'd figured out a linear version of that groove :)
Very hards song to play, on par with Mars Volta songs, awesome job!

Hey, excellent video. I always thought that was an awesome drum part, the bit with the cowbell and the snare sounds impossible on the song.
Btw, where did you get your splash cymbal stand? The one with the two cymbals on it.
amoetodi 3 years ago
oh it's just a yamaha boom stand of some sort with a tama clamp&boom attached to it :)

IMO much better than anthology. these days, rubber mallet, glow, sarah wynne, S.S. recognize- all great songs.

Missed some (i guess it's called half-notes) on the snare especially after the slightly messed up tom part but alright man. Nice style. Keep it up.
