same here man. it's a shame she is no longer in the burgh, but at least now we have beautiful woman like the new field reported i cant remember her name but she's HOT!!!
I think the constant time reminder is for the radio simulcast, and "news time" is a staple of radio news.
Della Crews is now with News 12 New Jersey, I believe she had a falling out with WPXI not long after this clip.
As for MCTYW, the theme was a staple with WPXI, having been used in the 1970's, a part of the early 1980's and from 1987-1994, when they went to the "techno" version for a few years.
Not quite accurate. Move Closer to Your World is the staple at Philadelphia's WPVI-TV 6. It was created (by Al Ham) for that station in the early 70s and has been used ever since. (Tell a Philadelphian that they can't have the "marching band" style MCTYW is like telling a fish he can't have water!) WPXI began using it in 1987 as you mention.
By the way, WPVI used the "techno" rendition for ONE WEEK! The viewers complained!
WPVI never used the "techno" rendition...it used a more orchestrated version supposedly performed by the London Philharmonic. But you're right about the viewers complaining when they used that. And according to the News Music Search Archive, MCTYW was actually written for WNAC-TV 7 (now WHDH) in Boston, and WPVI only started using the theme when WNAC's news director moved to that station and took the theme with him.

When did Channel 11 started to put the "11" logo in the blue box? I think it's 1992.

I remember that intro music like it was yesterday. Had that forever. Sounds like it's from the 70s.

I like the theme song at the beginning of this clip. They should bring it back with their new HD set and a video clip with it.

WPVI loved the original MCTYW! It's the version Delaware Valley knows and loves. I love that theme.
