People are comparing Bjork to Blasko? Of course Bjork wins but Blasko is quite good too. Not amazing but good. Her music is the type you get lost into. I listen to her whole album and get to the end without realising, and she has some standout tracks.

It's kind of a shame where the ARIA's try to title them as 'individual artists' and stray them away from the stereotypical female-singer songwriter genre( ridiculous title, as it generalises the diversity of female musicians and their music), and yet they group the three which are generally perceived as the 'strange' and 'quirky' female artists together where they don't even get to perform their whole songs respectively.
Saying this, they are all absolutely incredible and create amazing music.
I think Sarah Blasko's music can stand on its own, but I have to say I quite enjoy the "performance" aspect she brings to her shows. For me that effort goes a long way. Of course, I'm a great fan.

Winning 50 million arias mean nothing. If I were an Australian musician I'd rather focus on international success by getting the album out to as many different countries possible than chuck a Jessica Mauboy and worry about sex appeal.

Stravinsky, being a musical revolutionary at his time, was not either original. He drank from Korsakov's and Tchaikovsky's sources and from folkloric Russian music. To me Sarah Blasko is a fantastic artist, song writer and performer...This one is just splendid!
Sarah Blasko deserved it, she's worked so hard for so many years, with a back catalogue of masterpieces behind her, she deserves all the recognition she's been given. Kate and Lisa are wonderful too, and I hope one day they get the recognition they deserve, but Sarah is simply amazing.

Lisa and Kate are two of my favourite artists of all time. Their music is different to what you hear only the radio nowadays, ie: rap, hip hop or techno/pop.
I have stopped listening to the radio and instead chuck on a CD or my ipod. I'm sick of hearing crap that all sounds the same, which is why i LOVE this music.

Blasko having a been influenced by Bjork is some what true in a very narrow sense, I disagree about the dancing.
Bjork she has given a voice or path for a lot of up and coming musicians from Radiohead to the latest Dub artists. Bjork could have more power of influence than Madonna ever had.
Also so where would Bjork be without the 1960's US soul singers and Kate Bush?
Saying someone is a ripoff negates there story and their artistic path as an artist.

I'm a proud aussie but I'm not gonna be like omg these girls are soooo great because they're not. Lisa may have a unique type of voice...I guess...but a lot of people can sing as well as her, she ain't that great plus she is trying to be different but her dancing is retarded and you can't understand her. I said that I personally prefer listening to Shostakovich and Stravinsky (never compared them with Blasko/Lisa/Kate) b/c I find them more exhilarating to listen to. @pancreas07 much out there is truly 'original'. I feel there are other international singers out there in the folk/alt genre that bring something a little more unique to the table like Bjork, Regina Spektor, Florence and the Machine, Bats for Lashes and others.
I don't think Blasko is terrible at all, I just personally feel that there are better female folk/alt singer songwriters out there. But again that's just my own taste and people are completely entitled to their own musical taste/opinion.

Blasko having a been influenced by Bjork is some what true in a very narrow sense, I disagree about the dancing.
Bjork she has given a voice or path for a lot of up and coming musicians from Radiohead to the latest Dub artists. Bjork could have more power of influence than Madonna ever had.
Also so where would Bjork be without the 1960's US soul singers and Kate Bush?
Saying someone is a ripoff negates there story and their artistic path as an artist.

I'm a proud aussie but I'm not gonna be like omg these girls are soooo great because they're not. Lisa may have a unique type of voice...I guess...but a lot of people can sing as well as her, she ain't that great plus she is trying to be different but her dancing is retarded and you can't understand her. Sarah is just plain weird...whats with the get up and make up. Kate has the best voice, one of the best in the whole industry and her songs actually make sense not like Lisa and Sarah.

u idiot. how do their songs not make sense? lisas definetly do and sarahs a harder to interpret but still make sense. anyway there are alot of songs thaty dont make sense to the listener because they havnt experienced what the signer is singing about. sarahs songs actually make perfect sense and tell the story extremly well. and lisas danicing IS CUTE!

@Blackheiress09 I completely agree...Jess Mauboy is really good with an awesome voice. She has also achieved more in the Australian music industry compared to these other girls. Her album and 5 or 6 singles from it were hits.

I just felt that I should point out the reason Kate Miller-Heidke can carry her voice so well is because she was trained in opera. You should search for some of her less gentle songs - because there's no way you'd be sleeping when she starts projecting!! She can carry it off, though.

ok - i'm really not getting the shoulder thing with lisa. great voice. so pretty. but she's "trying" to be alternative and unique with this wierd movement thingy...but it looks unnatural and a really strange. just sing lisa and do your thing as if no-one was watching.
