  • Luv it!

  • I enjoy her style, have to say I like her adaptation of "Lady Of Shallot" as much as The Band Perrys'

  • Tennyson, my favortie author and Emilie Autumn my favorite music artist... How wonderful <3

  • She is amazing in every possible way!

And now I'm addicted to tea...

  • Sweet Jesus. I love this fucking tune

  • i remember singing this song for a music assessment in grade 9 (now going into grade 11) i sang it to all my friends and class mates very well they loved it and said i sounded a lot like her and i kept in time but when i got to my teacher i was so nervous that i had trouble breathing havent done music since........ never will voice changed a bit

  • I love it:DDDD

  • this is how i feel strangely enough :/ story of my life sorta thing. amazing song <3

  • When I hear this song it makes me think of Tori Amos~ (:

  • Looking at the poem in English ^^ <3

  • it`s the best <3333

  • So beautiful...Emilie is such a brilliant singer and songwriter

  • i fucking love her

  • Just finally got around to reading the poem... and it's crazy how close the song is to it. I already loved this song, but now I find it more... historically romantic I guess you'd say lol

  • where is wingedzephyr?!?!

  • I've been told by a friend that this song is actually based on a poem she studied once - The Lady of Shalott.

    Just a little tidbit. ^_^

  • @AllannaXD Yep! The Lady of Shallot is a story/poem that was written in 1833 by Lord Tennyson. Emilie Autumn is awesum.~ Loreana Mckennit also sings the poem which is another song that I enjoy based off of this story.

  • I just discovered her through random quotes in places across the internet. There are some artists out there who you can say are unique, but there is not a SINGLE person who can match up to Emilie Autumn. SHe's different, and amazing, in basically every way. Its incredible! Her imagination, her image, her music, her writing...just wow. People like Lady Gaga now look even more like posers and wannabes than before

  • Its weird I can relate to this song...Its like a metaphor for my life..

  • why is she so awesome ^^

  • Oh, Emilie. You're voice is absolutely amazing.~ <3

  • Like if you're watching the one with the lyrics from wingedzephyr is gone.

  • smooth music, strong lyrics, powerful voice, this is one of the best songs by Emilie Autumn

  • she has such a amazing voice ^^ im not one for sad (goth/emo dont flam me im just a Otaku) BUT I LOVE this song I love her outfit to

  • What I really like about Emilie is that you have never heard anything like this before.

Her voice is so different, she knows how to use it also.

  • i wanna meet her soooooooo badddddddd

  • amazing! i can`t stop listening to it!

  • She is great singer and even greater componist, but don't you people think, that its sick to be so obssesed with her?

  • @Spize12012 We are not obsessed. We are passionate. You dont have to be a Plague Rat, but some people are and there is no need to criticize us for that. We wouldnt criticize you for NOT being one.

  • @DimitriBelikov4ever No offense meant. I just cannot understand.

  • yeah shes ann awesomeee singgerr <3

  • I love the melody, the lyrics and the voice. Beautifully melancholic!

  • @EbonyWhiteStar i bought two of her albums from itunes, so she's not THAT underground.

  • @EbonyWhiteStar

You can download her songs from itunes

  • this is from The Lady of Shallot, an amazing poem. I quite like this! The song has 'I'm so sick of shadows" a quote form the poem.

  • I love this song almost as much as her song "Marry me"

  • Whenever i listen to this i think it says "But theres willows tree and little breezes, waves and walls and COWS.

  • Talent Envy.

  • ok i love emilie i love allll her work but i think she has bin a little to fast with this song becaus the vocals of the recording are only on the right side of thee music and the instruments are on the left thats a little sad BUT its a realyyyyyy goood sonng <3 like always

  • @wyattafterglow I love every single bit of that song.

  • @wyattafterglow If you listen to The Opheliac Companion, she explains that they HAD to record it like this or it did not sounds good.

  • Every picture of her is gorgeous

  • Gorgeous picture.

  • fucking amazing, loveit!

  • This song touches me so much Emilie is so artistic, but she really can't have all the credit, because this isn't her origional work, she gave it a nice tune and better description than the pold did, but the story isn't hers

  • i love both....gud song

  • i love thisong

  • The poem is probably my favourite poem in the world, and I love Emilie Autumn. Beautiful combination.

  • what i find amazing is that her singing style has waterlike flow...don't ask what i mean, for the time i cannot describe it in a better way

  • @k7z7 I think I understand what you mean. It ebbs and flows with a very natural-quality. She has a lovely voice (although some songs are not quite right for her) but here she sounds very natural.

  • @k7z7 I get what you're saying ^.^

  • love this song

  • ....If yu look on sites such as the Battered rose (If i spelled that right=/) and even Wikipedia even though i dont trust much of it. It clearly states she left her Art school because of her long hair and clothing. =/ normal school, like middleschool, or whenever she ditched it, i have nooo idea =/..So im not even shure im correct on anything ive sed.

  • This is so wonderful sad...

  • It's not depressing.. its true, and relevant to an extent even today.

  • Beautiful song and poem.

  • I really don't think this song is depressing... but that's the way your mind views it I guess, right? Besides, there's no reason to shy away from such things and cover it up with unnecessary happiness. That's why I like EA... she tells of complete realism and discusses the aspects of society we as people are avoidant to. It's no nonsense with her.

  • It's about a polm by Alfred Leonard Tennyson called the lady of Shalott read it and you'll understand

  • One of the best songs ever to me :D

  • i'm singing it everytime. <3 if Emilie isn't perfect, no one is perfect. did you hear about how she was raped ?

  • No, I never heard about her being raped, do you know anything about it?

  • Yeah, that's why she left that art school due to "harassment"

  • yeah, she was raped by her teacher. just like perfect poison has already said. i think it's really sad. Have you heard "Gothic Lolita" by her yet? it's about the rape and "God Help Me", too. listen to them please.

  • Yup, I've heard those songs before. :)

I'm new to Emilie Autumn stuff, but I've listened to a lot of her songs.

    How old was she?

  • i don't know.

i'm not sure, I mean. i think she was about 12 - 15 but I'm not sure. i love her. I know all her songs by heart. :D

i think Emilie's life wasn't as good as we think. in school, she had no friends because she was to extra ordinary for the others ...

  • Its from the poem 'The Lady of Shalott'

  • <333

  • Oh my god! This song is amazing and her voice is beautiful. I am so glad rherhe told me to listen to her songs. I agree with all of you Emilie is a talented woman!

  • I love the song. This is one of my favorite. And the picture is beautiful.

    Goth is not depression.

It is the love for the night and the love for all that hides there.

  • nice song

  • a beautiful song, by the most beautiful and talented woman in the world, so marvellous

  • This entire myth (Maid or Lady of Shalott, most influentially interpreted in poem by Tennyson) is one of my favorites. ANd I love EA's version.

  • I love this song sooo muuuuch~!!!!! It's REALLY hard to sing, but it's so amazing that it's worth all the extra effort. <3 <3 <3

  • Comment removed

  • i love the song so much! but it's really hard to sing! :( i lose my breathing before i even get to sing the next couple of lines... emilie's the best.:)

  • I love the poem, but this song is truly awsome, I love it!!! emilie is the most talented woman!!!

  • This song makes me think about my daughter when she gets older and is born

  • omg this song completely discribes me. word for word

its so amazing she can write songs that can relate to so many people

    she's so wonderful<3

  • It's fantastic. Emilie's got a wonderful voice and the lyyyrics! I absolutely love her and her songs!..

  • This song really describes me

  • me too

  • AWESOME!! I love this song

  • Nevermind I found out it was about a Camolot polm

  • so is this song about a girl who's sick and then she gets depressed because she wants to escape from the hospital?

  • Its a song about the poem "The lady of Shallot" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. She was a lady who was cursed to live in a Tower who watched the lives of others because She could not leave. Until one day she decided to leave and ended up dying mid song on a boat.

(well the poem in a nutshell anyway)

  • ^^ Super ! j'adore beaucoup en + emilie autumn a une voie :P ses un ange lol

  • omg.. I miss that day.. :(

i wish i could surf back in time to that monment :3

  • I know .. :3 Im so unbeliveble lucky ^^,

I almost cant belive it :D

shes the cutiest person evver :3

she said to me: okay then we meet later, I got my eyes on you sweetheart.. ^^

    aww... my heart melted xD

  • U LUCKY BITCH!!!!!!!!! oh my goth! i sooooo wish i was u, that would be a fucking dream come true!!! omigawd i love emilie soo fucking much! u are sooo lucky, treasure that moment, never forget it! u are sooooo lucky!

  • .... She said that to you? I'm hella jealous!

  • omg .. I just love Emilie Autumn and her songs..

and yesterday she kissed me... on her live performance in norway...

    I cant forget it xD

  • O_O. You are so lucky. *Adores.*

  • ...JEALOUS...

  • I love this song!!

  • This is what pisses me off. People say she's all image. She's not - she just happens to be pretty, and her image is an accessory to her image. She's about roots - the history and origin of her music (the Victorian Era, and such), and the emotions she puts into it.

  • her music strikes me as more georgian than victorian, from what I have heard any way.

I dont see anything wrong with having a distinct image, if you can afford to dress the way you want why shouldnt you?

  • This is amazing, I love the peom The Lady of Shallott.... this is fantastic.

  • Is this from Opheliac or Enchant?

  • I believe it's from Opheliac.

  • Thanks :3

  • If none of you have any recognition to the lyrics I'll let you in on a few hints and explanations:

She was inspired with this song by a very famous poem called the "Lady Of Shallott'

In this poem a lady is inprisoned in her castle and she sits and weeves her tapestry day in day out, she never can look out of her window so she keeps a mirror on her wall to see the great outside, when a prince strolls by one day, and hears the lady's beautiful voice, she looks out of the window and dies.

  • But then what did it mean, "she went down to her little boat"?

  • Because she was cursed from looking outside of the window, went down the lake outside hypnotized and possessed, got into a boat and i think she turned stone cold blue and drowned. I didn't have any time to write all of the rest of what happens. It's over 5 stanzas long and nearly over-lapping 3 pages in prose. I done 6 months study on it and 3 projects in english- mainly on the person who wrote the poem though. Read the poem if you're interested, it's very tragic. and boring after 6 months.

  • Oh, I see. I think I should go read the poem, it might make more since then. :)

  • You can hear the poem sang by Loreen McKenit (probably spelled her name wrong) here on you tube. Just type in the Lady of Shalott

  • holy cow this was the first song I heard by Emilie then I didn't hardly listen to her for a few months but now... I've probably heard almost every song she's made, I love her and listen every day!

    )O(

  • i wasnt talking to you sum1 sed she woz gay and i disagree

  • ...after doing so the mirror smashed and she knew her fate had come, she came out of the tower and into a nearby boat, slowly dieing. She was found by the handsome man and other lords and ladys who thought she was a myth. The last line was something like "She has a lovely face"

  • This song is about a poem I studied in school. I can't remember what the poem was called or who wrote it (Which is very bad of me...) but I know the story well. It was about a maiden who was locked in a tower and was not allowed to look outside, except if it was through a mirror. She used to weave what she saw in the mirror so the image was always changing. Then she saw a handsome man and was so in love she turned to get a better look at him....

  • It was "The Lady of Shalott" by Lord Alfred Tennyson :)

  • Ooh yesss! thank you :)

  • I love how complex her melodies are. This song is almost hypnotic.

  • wow...

    I love this song!

Maybe I told you but it's so great....^^

    I ♥ Emilie Autumn!

She is so beautiful and she can sing well!! ;D

  • xD Every time I hear her songs I tell myself "you wont get goosebumps!" And...no matter what I do I always get them.

    She's wonderful.

  • I'm in love with Emelie!!!

  • :O no wais! i r in lovee with Emilie!!

  • Beautiful. I've seen pictures of her before, no name, didn't know if she was just a model or a real artist, but I wanted to know, because she's such a stunning being, it's unreal. I happened to just run across a video of her putting on a corset, not knowing it was the same girl. People said she played music, so, I had to check her out and she so far sounds so interesting. Her music is as unique and beautiful as she is. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon these finds. :) Thanks for posting this!<3

  • yes emilie autumn is beautiful! i have loved her for about a year now and i surprise people when i tell them that she is still my favorite singer/artist

  • Such an incredible song, I love it. Emilie Autumn so talented it's frightning...

  • I had to really think about it to realise why I actually like her music. To so many people it doesnt sound right or good to them but I think I like it because its made for the right reasons. Like its not made so people will buy as much of her music as possible like bands like fall out boy do. It isnt made as a way of getting famous. It feels real and when I hear it I feel it rush through my body and veins and any music that gives you that kind of feeling is worth listening to.

  • i totaly agree!!!

  • I agree, Emilie doesn't make her music so she can be rich or so it's appealing to people, which makes her music so lovely. It's not over done to attract fans, it's done just right, more so for fun then to be famous.

  • I agree COMPLETELY, completely. The music that she makes is a form of self expression. You would even be able to tell that- -HEAR that without even seeing any of her interviews. When I first heard her music- -not too long ago, mind you, I felt- -completely stunned. Shivers still run up and down my spine whenever I listen to her music. I just....it inspires me to continue with the things that I love and to never ever give up. O;////;O ....Emilie is amazing.

  • If you don't like her music why do you listen to such "steaming turds of songs" as Liar and the art of suicide ??!!!

    I Love EMILIE Autunm!!! <333

And I love all her "steaming turds of songs" xDD!!

  • Because some of her other stuff is actually rather good.

  • Ok, yeah, songs like Liar and the Art of Suicide have attracted angsty teens who don't quite understand the sarcasm, but that doesn't make the song bad. But I have to say, I prefer Enchant.

  • omg you totally understand what i think when people ask why i like her music i just couldnt exactly put it into words before!!

  • I find her music very dramatic.

  • Emilie is amazing. Such talent she has.

  • ya she has such an awesome voice... shes like my faveorite

  • i really loved this song when i heard it for the first time. <3

  • Emilie Autumn is an incredibly talented woman.

  • I love Autumn's stuff <3 Good work.

  • Emilie Autumn is an incredibly talented woman

  • It's extremely folky... and it's absolutely amazing. Lady of Shalott is one of my favorites... "Half-sick of shadows", direct quote... it's amazing.

  • This sounds alot like the story of Rapunzel crossed with Sleeping Beauty.

  • It is based of of a poem called "The Lady of Shalott" by Tennyson. Its a breathtaking poem.

  • She's LIKE a real PRINCESS AI!!!!! lol

    she's amazing!!

  • she isso pretty

i wish i look like her

  • She is my total hero.

  • Why is it stolen? The Lyrics are hers and Loreena McKennitt just sang the poem to the music. The Lady of Shalott is written by neither of those two but by Lord Alfred Tennyson. To honor a brilliant poem with this homage is great.

  • This woman never fails to impress me. She is an amazingly orginal talent and she really grabs my attention. Not to mention her uber-cool look. lol

  • this is an amazing poem that she turned into a song. its wonderful.

  • I know! :3 I just love that poem...:3

  • I have a weird obsession with "The Lady of Shalott" so this is just perfect for me <3

  • me too I remember when I first herd the poem I immediately fell in love with it. x

  • that's not true.

  • I'm sorry Ibarrasxgirl, we have had to mark you down as your comment was not gushing enough. Next time only write "I love her. She's the totally bestest thing ever ever ever!"

  • her voice it´s so rare, but soo beautiful...

she´s like a drug, a very strong one!

    i just love her

  • absolutly

  • No doubt about it, the woman is quite intoxicating.

  • The first time I heard it I didn't like it. But now... can't stop listening to it! ^^

  • I'm recently addicted to her. I heard Rose Red for the first time the other day and CAN'T stop listening to it. This song is kinda the same way. She kinda faintly reminds me of Ace of Base. The middle parts of this song anyway XD
