really, you think so? I'm a huge Doors fan, and this is one of my favourite Doors tracks, it doesn't exhibit the grandiose sounds of their more famous works, but it gives Jim and the boys space 2 show of some different styles, Jim does some great vocal Impressions of Dylan, and references to Otis which is lovely, and a very fluid lyrical structure, lots of verve and playfulness on this one, I think, which is a refreshing counter-point to some of their other work,
What an awsome song on an awesome album, its amazing the impact they had on the music world in only 4 years time, this one song has so much depth and intertweaving of so many musical instruments and Morrisons vocals were at his best all make this song what it is, this song should be on the radio, they keep playing the same rotations without ever tapping into all the great ones, maybe thats why its special to their fans because it not overplayed.
ok ive been on youtube since i was 13 and now im 18 and i have got to know the type of people that comment. 1. the one that always makes a joke about how good the song is. 2. the one that always wants to argue about the damn dislikes. 3 the one that always has to argue about whatever the hell he wants.
4. the one that always includes the word "fuck" in a sentence.
5.the one that always says "great song!" and gets a bunch of thumbs up.
“Its a funny thing, I noticed that when people are joking theyre usually dead serious, and when theyre dead serious its usually pretty funny. So actually I think that anything that you say means exactly what you say and its opposite.”
Hey...I like Katy Perry...I have her CD and I'm 60 years old! Sure I love the Doors, I grew up in the 60's, 70's and 80's in Southern Cal, was in several bands and an artist living by the South Bay beaches. I enjoy her, Kesha, GaGa, Wheezy et. al. It's just POP muzik!
@Ampvega Pop music nowadays is so inventive, it`s unbelievable.
Last week ago, some friends and me were listening to the Luxembourgish charts and i swear there were 9 out of 10 songs with the exact same chord progression ! We were, no they can`t be serious, but after another listen we were like come on let`s make a song out of this, so we are now working a meledy of 42 modern pop songs, which all have the same chords and strumming pattern. That shows that pop music is most uncreative you can get
@79mojorisin Naturally enough, there is no morality. Go ahead.
By the way, at the most, there is civility, as well as classiness. And, Katy Perry, in a broad, overall, cohesive enough sense is lacking in classiness; especially in direct (or indirect) comparison to, say, The Doors.
@79mojorisin ..he he, the real question is, is it Morally right NOT to "lose" them? maybe try a little bit of Yellow Submarine on her, that's always good for the little ones..;-)
I have a folk collection that has a song with a line about a "pretty little girl with a red dress on." It's called "Old Joe Bone" and it's performed by the New Lost City Ramblers who played pre-blue grass hillbilly music if you'll pardon my use of hillbilly. I've only realized over the last two or three years that the Doors blended divergent music styles into their songs.
I know i am a Wild Child when i Break On Through To The Other Side as i Light My Fire working as a Back Door Man at the hotel saying this is The End...this wont be an Easy Ride when Runnin' Blue sayin Touch Me to my L.A woman and to Not Touch The Earth when we are counting Five To One and telling her Hello, I Love You and Love Me Two Times sense we live on Love Street
This song is about Otis Redding, who wrote & recorded "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay". Otis was one of the great, black blues singers, back in the day when being black was just barely acceptable. Dock was written by Otis Redding & Steve Cropper. Two of the greatest musicians who ever lived. It's a classic that the head-banging, hip-hop, rap talkers of today could learn some lessons from.
@LZStairway I was just thinking that too haha. Very Dylanesque. Thats probably why they had him sing part of it, because the song is also very Dylanesque
@bluffed12 Much contrary to popular belief, Robbie Krieger wrote the majority of the Doors' lyrics. Jim was their driving force, but he was too unreliable in the long-run.
@Alwaystuned A TERRIBLY UNDERRATED SONG! its one of their better songs, very complex in the weaving of all the diff instruments making for a wonder up-beat song.
