David Tennant is right. As much as I *love* his Doctor, it is in the tradition of Doctor Who for the Doctor to change hands after a time. It's not a contest of "Who's the better Doctor?" Enjoy the stories and the spirit of the show. Matt Smith is *different*; I'm interested to see how his Doctor will evolve, but I do like what he has done with it thusfar. I hope the series continues to be a success, and that there will be many more actors to play the Doctor for years to come.

@lasthopeofearth I totally agree. For me, everyone except Rory may die in every moment, and I wouldn't care about that. It somehow destroys the tension of storyline when you are content in case Doctor/Amy/River is in danger xD

Matts portrayal of the Doctor is probably the best out of them all, maybe a close second to Tom Baker. His portrayal is very alien and that's what it should be like.
When i first saw this i was shocked but it was hard at times to understand what he was saying because the kids in the crowd kept talking and shouting when he said the 2009 shows would be his last the kids kept shouting when he was saying it and and the kids kept shouting at the part where he said when the show returns in 2010 it wont be with him because the kids kept shouting i had to keep turning the volume up

I remember this, one of my friends told me and I asked them where they heard it and they said the radio. I didn't believe it because everyone I know hates Doctor Who and tries to make me stop watching it. I thought it was a trick, but once I came home and went on YouTube I watched this very video. When it was over I got off the computer and went in my room. I cried the whole night, and didn't speak to anyone for a week and a half. :(

I was so upset when this aired! But Matt Smith has been an absolutely AWESOME Doctor and long may he stay in the role. He's different to Tennant but different is good with Doctor Who. Every Doctor has been different and interesting, Matt is definitely my favourite, though I adored all of the New Who Doctors.

i love david as a doctor, cause he got this awesome expression: when he smiles, he does it with all the heart and when he is sad, you can not only see it on his face, but deep in the eyes, too. and his whole body is acting with him, not just face. so that's why i love him as a doctor and i'm really glad to see him getting a reward. but what is important too, is that it was time for him to leave. he had wonderful three seasons with dw and i think it was enough. after all sad moments he had to go.

@FLOWDNB I hardly think Matt Smith is any sort of "crap", in fact, Matt is a very good successor to the Doctor Who legacy. He had big shoes to fill and he did them well with grace and dignity. David will always be my doctor and I was shattered when he left, and David and his band of companions will always be my favorite, but that doesn't make Matt "crap" or the show dumb or bad, in fact, things couldn't be in more capable hands than Steven Moffet.

@JamieHowitt I'm a 17 year old girl. To be honest, at the time I love David's doctor.. but now he's gone I love Matt Smith even more. Matt's portayal is more quirky, whereas I realise now David's interpretation was never odd enough to be a 900 year old alien. However, I adored Ten's acting in 'The Waters of Mars'.
@JamieHowitt I don't prefer Matt to David, David will always be my doctor and his era was a magical time for me. I find his portrayal to be great, raw, and true. But I'm not dissing Matt either because Matt is a worthy successor to the Doctor Who legacy. So I'm very fond of Matt as well, but David and his group of companions will always be so very special to me.

@Aiicyla David will always be my Doctor, that will never change, his era with his group of companions will always be so special for me, but I adore Matt as well, I admit I was nervous about Matt taking over, but once Series 5 started, I was hooked and Matt is in every way a worthy successor. I adore the relationship of Doctor and Amy, there is something very loving, affectionate, and human about their bond. David couldn't have left the Doctor legacy in better hands than Matt.

I remember this, one of my friends told me and I asked them where they heard it and they said the radio. I didn't believe it because everyone I know hates Doctor Who and tries to make me stop watching it. I thought it was a trick, but once I came home and went on YouTube I watched this very video. When it was over I got off the computer and went in my room. I cried the whole night, and didn't speak to anyone for a week and a half. :(

1-This saddens me :( I miss David Tennant as The Doctor! Matt smith is great and all but for me David Tennant was just.. No one can top him.

Lol. Doctor Who pulls out a knife and says he's off to kill Patrick Stewart. I'm not sure that was appropriate.
He was great in Hamlet. I wish I could have seen him live. I didn't see it till it came out on DVD. I heard he and Catherine are gonna be in some other Shakespeare thing sometime soon. I wonder what the chances of that ever being done in film version are... I won't ever get to see it otherwise. :(

I was so upset when this aired! But Matt Smith has been an absolutely AWESOME Doctor and long may he stay in the role. He's different to Tennant but different is good with Doctor Who. Every Doctor has been different and interesting, Matt is definitely my favourite, though I adored all of the New Who Doctors.

lol... too long comment! anyway he had too leave cause every new companion wuldn't be enough too kill even a litttle piece of his pain. and cant you see that when the new doctor comes he leaves so much pain behind?what about 11th doctor? well he's so unlike the 10th but yet he has so many of his qualities. you just have to put david behind and then you can appreciate matt! i know it can be hard if you loved 10th, because i felt the same, but it is possible, believe me! 10th? my doctor, too!

i love david as a doctor, cause he got this awesome expression: when he smiles, he does it with all the heart and when he is sad, you can not only see it on his face, but deep in the eyes, too. and his whole body is acting with him, not just face. so that's why i love him as a doctor and i'm really glad to see him getting a reward. but what is important too, is that it was time for him to leave. he had wonderful three seasons with dw and i think it was enough. after all sad moments he had to go.

I love David Tennant with all my heart, but all these hate-comments pertaining to Matt Smith as David's successor is just shit. David is and always will be "my doctor." Matt on the other hand, I think does a great job as the eleventh doctor. If anyone should give him shit, what do you think the people who have been Doctor Who fans since 1963 felt when David Tennant or even Christopher Eccleston took over? I wish you all could just take that stick out of your ass and grow up. Give Matt a chance.

Matt smith is such a crap follow up doctor to david, his potrayal of the doctor is stupid querky movements and phrases, i think the bbc is dumbing down to aim more towards the children who will then go out and buy their merchandise.
David will always be the doctor in my eyes, matt doesn't even come close, amy also, she's a shit assistant. You'll never beat the good old days of David as the Dr with rose, donna, martha, jack, sarah jane, mickey & john simm as the master SUPERB!

@FLOWDNB I hardly think Matt Smith is any sort of "crap", in fact, Matt is a very good successor to the Doctor Who legacy. He had big shoes to fill and he did them well with grace and dignity. David will always be my doctor and I was shattered when he left, and David and his band of companions will always be my favorite, but that doesn't make Matt "crap" or the show dumb or bad, in fact, things couldn't be in more capable hands than Steven Moffet.

I'm not denying the fact the doctor who producers / musicians do a good job, as every episode has had good effects and music and even storylines. It's just after David's years as the doctor i feel a bit let down by this newbee they brought in.

@JamieHowitt I'm a 17 year old girl. To be honest, at the time I love David's doctor.. but now he's gone I love Matt Smith even more. Matt's portayal is more quirky, whereas I realise now David's interpretation was never odd enough to be a 900 year old alien. However, I adored Ten's acting in 'The Waters of Mars'.

But I'm not dissing Matt either because Matt is a worthy successor to the Doctor Who legacy. So I'm very fond of Matt as well, but David and his group of companions will always be so very special to me.

The only people who don't like Matt Smith now are the ones who can't get over David leaving. I'm so glad Doctor Who was blessed with such an amazing actor after David left, it HAD to be hard to take over after that and see all of the negativity he got simply for replacing the 10th Doctor.

@Aiicyla David will always be my Doctor, that will never change, his era with his group of companions will always be so special for me, but I adore Matt as well, I admit I was nervous about Matt taking over, but once Series 5 started, I was hooked and Matt is in every way a worthy successor. I adore the relationship of Doctor and Amy, there is something very loving, affectionate, and human about their bond. David couldn't have left the Doctor legacy in better hands than Matt.
