  • AWD cant drift

  • Thank you,

it is not perfect as I have learned from many of the comments but. it was a great father son project. it has since been sold and have moved on to other projects. Thanks again for the compliment.

  • Loophole in our fucked up federal regulations...can't own a Skyline...BUILD ONE..sorta. I gotta give you props on that build.

  • RB=Nice AWD=Shit

  • Step 1: Rb26dett conversion. Check

    Step 2: Coilover suspention.

    Step 3: new rims.

  • i am thinking of doing the same swap an keeping AWD on a 96 240.... where did u get ur parts from to complete the swap from? pm me plz

  • Just for ur information that car was AWESOME! and u should put all the clips togheter to one big clip, make it easier for others :P

  • that would be an 8 on the PIA scale.

  • that is awesome! good job man! just a question on a 1-10 scale of pain in the ass what would this have been? im looking at doin an rb25 swap (allot simpler) but how can i say no to the godzilla of engines? :( lol

  • Type X kit + MNP paint + Volk TE37 = <3 imo ;)

  • man what bullshit. i love it how ur sitting there talking about awd but when u did that 180 ur back wheels were the only ones spinning?only an idiot would believe you

  • @XdisXnikkaX if you read into it, or looked at the photo album you would see that this was one of the first drives of this car. Yes it is in fact AWD, IF i turn the awd on. if not it is RWD. Read before you comment and call me an idiot. Have you built a car from scratch? I wonder?

  • not awd

  • That shit is not awd. Who do you think your kidding seriously. FAIL

  • thats no awd

  • AWD "drifting" isn't drifting - I hope you knew that.

  • @KayC2SLO Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally over steers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control. AWD cars can drift. So can FWD

  • thats not awd lol

  • @seapoopy yeah it is.

  • Great car despite all the money. You still have to do body kits, wheels, tires, and brakes and all that shit.

  • @TheGamerPlus lol@ bodykits. dude, just put on the lip and rear valences. beats any body kit nowadays. keep it clean.

  • how much money did you throw at the AWD setup?

  • about 5 grand to get the car operational, a lot more for goodies afterwards, Tires wheels cage, seats etc...

  • @truckadsjoe did only 5 grand for the awd engine swap ??? and can i leave everything else stock if i were to do the same?? and can you make another video of the car going in a straight line with you gunning it ?!?!?

  • damn thats pretty sleeper. i dig

  • Is this car really AWD? I have a 240sx and I'm planning to swap the KA24de for the rb26dett. But I'm not sure if I'll keep the AWD layout or switch to RWD. I can use some advice.

  • @Unforgiven300

    HI,

yes it is AWD, would I do it over? hmm, my next project is going to be to pull this drivetrain out and put it into an s15 coupe. I like that body style better. But I will also most likely get rid of the AWD set up. and go with a 6 speed RWD transmission, I can not lower the car any further, the AWD set up is a speed drag. for what little I actually use it. I am glad I did it, dont get me wrong, But now I would just go with the RWD and drift the beejeesus out of it.

  • @truckadsjoe I have read that matching the RWD tranny of an rb25dett would be better. It's that true? I want to swap for the rb26dett because of its power... but I also want the car to look good. What do you recommend?

  • @Unforgiven300 , Well it would be a much simpler swap. retain the original 240 front suspension. let you lower the car if you want, Yes, I would say that would be the way to go.

  • @truckadsjoe agree with u 100% good choice

  • @Unforgiven300 Keep the ka. so much more fun building off the dohc ka motors. and when youre done beating the shit out of the motor, and have gotten your skill up in drifting (if thats what you plan on doing), then go for the rb26dett. and thats only if money isnt super tight. then sell the motor for dirt cheap for some one else to have fun with and beat on or just give it to a friend to start out. drifting is fun. start a family and help people out. it makes shit way more fun!

  • @keithXridesXhisXbike i wished u lived in toronto i like ur way of thinkin

    thumbz ^^ for sure bud.

  • @s13240sx92 shit like that is what makes the sport fun!

  • dude kno of any decently priced rb's. im getting a z31 and want to put one in either that or my 89 240 coupe.

  • how much did u spend on engine and trans and overall?

  • truly amazing car

  • Why is the front so high??? Is that from the torque lifting it or is it just the suspension setup.

I've seen one like this on Ebay is this related it was along time ago maybe a year or more or less. I was woundering if thats where you got this from or if you sold one like it. It was incomplete.

  • very nice man love it

  • question.the frontier comes with the ka and it comes awd, i know this is an rb swap vid,and im talking about the ka but is this possible to do this on a 240?

  • I do not have any experience with the Frontier suspension. but as my car shows, anything is possible if you persist with it.

    good luck

  • @DatDatsun not really thats a 4wd not awd your better off trying to put a GTR preferably R32 since its simpler onto a KA best part is the GTR tranny is cheap kinda because everyone wants the 2wd behind the rb25.

From what I know the RB bolt pattern is similar to the KA I think just two bolts don't line up but you can actually put a RB tranny behind a KA or visa versa. But I haven't tried it myself so no garantee.

  • what did you use to convert the front end to accept the awd?

  • Hi

I used a custom machined part to adapt the Skyline knuckle to the S13 strut. check out our photo album on Picasa. look up truckadsjoe.

  • i did nor see any front tire wheel spin, grip ........ ,ok i get it its got the tracktion control Attesa system on, wich diverted all traction to the rear.

    LOL , NOT!

  • well it is all wheel drive and your spelling is pretty atrocious. This video was one of the first drives after building the car. Sorry it does not show a smoking burnout. For all you doubters this spring I will have some fresh vids of it and they will leave no doubts.

  • hey ,Im just calling it how I see it .Dont Take it personal. If you indeed manage to install the skyline tranny including front axles and get them to work ,more power to you.I think its great. If you engineered and designed and built a custom working system yourself ,You sir are a genius..Id be the first to ask for vids.best of luck .I work on my atrocious spelling ,;)

  • COILOVERS!!!!

  • Anyone forgot to install the front axles?

  • Comment removed

  • All wheel drive?! Awesome!!!

  • how did you spend?

  • how much was the rb26 motor

  • this is the second time i see this done to a 240sx, bu the first time on the s13....kudos to you!

  • ballin

  • hey how does it handle compare to the rwd be4

  • Well if you are doing a launch it changes things considerably by reducing the wheel spin and causing you to be flung off the starting line like a slingshot, It is harder to drift with for sure. Still learning that technique. One noticeable difference and this is due to the setup I am using is that the car is much harder to steer when the transfer case is engaged as the wheels are all pulling and it does not have any release between the front and rear. But I will get that worked out soon.

  • hi man i want to know how much does the labor cost for labor to swap a rb26dtt engine and transmission and awd setup into a 20 datsun ? can 6500 $ usd cover it ?

  • yes that would reasonably cover the labor costs

  • i mean with the part and swap together

  • A+ Joe, that's what I like to see!

  • do you have any video or pics of the drivetrain, i really want to know how everything fits in the front end

  • Nick, we have a picasa page with a pretty complete photo library of our build,

I think if you look up truckadsjoe as the member and look at our 240sx build you can see all the details

  • that just doesn't look very awd. when i see smoke coming off the front inside tire i'll believe it.

  • well you are right, it is not done yet. all the components are in and spinning, I have not finished the hydralic actuator for the transfer case, This coming weekend I hope.
