  • Nothing constantly gives me goosebumps like Jim singing this on Memorial Day weekend. For that minute and a half, there is no better place in the world than at IMS. Can't wait for May.

  • I have been to the last six Indy 500's, and I will never stop going.

  • I still get goosebumps when I hear this as I truly miss home

  • Goose Pimples each and every time I hear this.

  • Goose Pimples each and every time I hear this.

  • One of the greatest tradition in sports.

  • I'm from California, never been to Indiana, but I love this song, especially sung by Jim Nabors. Every time I hear this song I get choked up. And this video - 2009 Indy 500- was the last one my father ever watched. He passed on 2 weeks after this race. Thank you for posting.

  • @nev594 awesome bro! im from INDIANAPOLIS living in CA. and every year the opening cerimonies at INDY brings tears to me, beyond special when JIM sings back home again!

  • Hearing Jim Nabors singing and watching those men sitting in their cars, focused on the most prestigious race on Earth is truly art. If I were an artist I would paint a picture or write a poem about it.

  • Dam I still get chills hearing this and being a native Hoosier.

  • Hello from a proud graduate of Merrillville High School, and Purdue University 1987.

  • another 10 days get to hear Jim again..always gives goosebumps

  • The best. simply the best!

  • @csmock1962 glad you like it.

  • I love you, Jim! :-)

  • Thank you! Im crying! I actually live not to far from the speedway. I moved to New York for a few months. and im heading home now, and i needed to hear this! I will be singing this, because i will be back home for awhile! I was actually working this race and finally the first time i heard him sing it, cause my only 500 was the 07 race that he missed! And the only time this IU girl cares about Purdue. Just for this Minute!

  • I dig the dhali helmet

  • I was born in Indiana...the state does have its quirks; however, when I was a teenager and visited Maryland and New Jersey, I got a whole new appreciation for "Back Home Again in Indiana!"

  • @blmtaylor yes.... like several time zones in the same state, right?

  • @blmtaylor very nice song...wish calif had nicer calif songs

  • @princeofdarknessxyz1 Wish we had a better budget... but look, long and short of it..we are in the best and state in the union. "California Dreaming"

  • @zbestwun2001 lol...that's the only song?

  • “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” Tony Bennett. “California Dreamin’,” The Mamas & Papas. “Coming to Los Angeles,” Arlo Guthrie.

“All I Wanna Do,” Sheryl Crow. “This ain’t no disco — this is L.A “I Love L.A.” Randy Newman. Written in jest — typical for Newman — “California Girls,” Beach Boys. “A Long December,” Counting Crows. “ “Free Fallin,” Tom Petty. “California,” Joni Mitchell. “Road Trippin’,” Red Hot Chili Peppers. . “Santa Monica,”

    “Hotel California,”

  • I watch the race every year since 1977. Back then it was LIVE on the radio. But it was televised later in the evening.

  • @onebadladmothertruck If you lived in L.A. during the 60's the race was broadcasted on KBIG's AM station, who's call letters slip me...

  • @onebadladmothertruck, Its still like that in the Indianapolis area.

  • I would pay anything to take a lap at 225+ at Indy with no safe barrier. Go De Silvestro! I hope she does well this weekend!

  • @spaceballz12345 I can hook you up... for 100 K...

  • @zbestwun2001

    Hook me up, dude.

  • Missing you, my second hometown.

  • I am always proud to live in this country, as well as the state of Indiana; even more so in the month of May.

  • how can i download this to my computer

  • I love hearing Jim Nabors sing this. Always gives me goosebumps! What a voice!

  • i get the chills everytime i hear this song. cant wait to hear it live for the 8th straight year

  • I live close to the speedway and I always get the "blackout" sadly I cant afford to get to the 500.

  • That suck, the race is SOLD OUT they should let you guys see it.. Ever tried hopping the fence?

    Just kidding.

  • I wish.....

    XD

  • RunerRacer- why dont you just sell out your yard for parking, make some dough, scalp a ticket, and attend the greatest spectacle in racing. easy.

  • its 20 bucks to get in the infield. Not much if you ask me. They always rerun it on tv after its over.

  • i live in Italy and never been to Indy500...but i'll definately try to go this year can't wait 4 it!

all those traditions are still the real motorsport!! touching

  • @RacingSpecialities You should try to see this...it is special.Without political crap, it's America's heartland at its finest...

  • Thanks for the upload, dude.

Oh, and I also need to thank @lmkenny for linking me to this song. :)

  • The start of summer, all things great, god bless jim nabors, indy 500 a big part of america....makes me feel like a kid every may.....

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Thanks for posting this video; great job! The Indy 500 has been on "Must Do" list since I was a kid. This year I finally did it, taking my wife and kids. I've been to World Series games, Final Four, etc., but there's nothing like the Indy pre-race festivities, right up to Jim Nabors ...And the speed is incredible, like rockets on wheels..

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for posting. Living in Louisville, I

get the best of both worlds, My Old Kentucky Home the 1st Saturday in May &

Jim Nabors singing Back Home Again in

Indiana the last Sunday in May. There is

not a better way to kick off the summer.

Jim's voice still sounds great & his preformance at the 500 is something that

    makes Memorial Day weekend special.

  • Your're very welcome!

  • Thanks for this posting!!

  • My pleasure.

  • great song..great video..great race.. :)

thanks for making the video and uploading!

  • This is the 3rd. version I have made up of this video.

I added some titles this year, and the first two times I did make some errors in my darn spelling.

You guys pointed this out to me both times.

    So I have fixed it...I think it's A-OK now.

  • Thanks for posting this! Good quality audio too. You know, in the days before Internet, this Hoosier had to wait a whole year to hear this treasured song, sung only by the man who sings it best, putting his soul into it.. Jim Nabors *has* become an institution at this race, and somehow, it just doesn't feel right when he cannot make it. Listening to the Purdue marching band play the opening, and Jim singing the first line always puts chills into me. This is Americana at its finest.
