It doesn't say that the horse is tied WITH a five meter rope. Therefore we could assume that there is different rope tying the horse to this mentioned five meter rope, hence the extended reach of the horse.

2 answers.... either the other end of rope isnt tied.... or even if it was, the place where the rope is tied to is only 1 meter away from the hay but 6 meters from the horse--> (horse)-----5m rope----(tied to pole) 1 meter away hay... hence the horse czn just walk to it

THE CORRECT ANSWER

The horse is tied to a 5 meter rope to a tree and he's standing 5 meters away from that tree. 6 meters away from the horse (1 meter away from the other side of the tree), there's a bail of hay ! He can go five meters till the tree that he's roped to then another 1 meter and eat the hay!
