Rex was not killed in this wreck but was badly injured. Was able to see him in the hospital. He had severe head injuries amongst other things but after a lot of healing and rehabilitation he was able to walk again and talk again and even remembered the times when I was a little girl running around the pits. (my dad raced with him for years at madera speedway) ironically enough my dad found himself in the same position as Rex a few years later! He also is able to walk but has some problems still
@TOPGUNCANADA00 i forget the stats but only the indy cars are faster than the supers at phoenix nascar or even sprints and midgets dont even come close. i think the record for a super is a 20 second lap
This video was taken 1997. He lived for ten years after, succumbing to a brain tumor in December 2007. He never raced again, although he did keep the Keith Black engine (which was nearly pristine despite the violent accident) and pit crewed a handful of times.
Are you sure? My father used to flag the NSRA and WSMRA, i thought he was still racing til 95' i could be wrong though. Just a thought. If you have any more clips of the copper classics are you goint o post them up?
i recall this being fatal.
