  • I'm 19, I love music , like this, i believe i was born in the wrong time lol, i love the fashion and music from the 1920s- the 1990s.. i don't like the music and clothes now, thats why i listen to old school music, switch up my clothes with vintage clothing... and my roommate hates when i play old school music.. she said "you have horrible taste in music"... i wanted to slap her when she said that.. all she listens to is nicki minaj, waka, wiz khalifa, gucci, horrible music

  • @filmsuga92 I feel the same way, except I'm 14. God I wish I were born in the 50's :(

  • Philip Michael Thomas (pre-Miami Vice) was next to Billy Dee as a 70's role model in movies for those of us who were still young then. Loved this movie.

  • <3

  • Love this!!!

  • They should have gotten married in real life....cute couple!

  • @karykares DOESNT BEYONCE LOOK LIKE SPARKLE OR IS IT JUST ME/

  • @shaqimianj lol I think it's just you!! The face shape maybe but nothing else..Irene had a cute, babyface but Beyonce looks more mature in her face.

  • @shaqimianj its just you,,,,

  • Stix could get it!

  • This was always my favorite song from this movie :)

  • True love. So genuine. So precious. So cute.

  • ...let's cut it yall. THIS IS MY ISH!!!

  • Whitney did a remake of this song years ago and makes this performance sound like the finale of a high school musical.

  • such a beautiful song

  • every part in this movie was great same goes 4 sticks cause every part of him looked great, ummhh ;-)

  • @kyasst . I've seen this movie many times. Let me share something with you. Whitney planned this movie over 10 years ago. Aaliyah was to star in it also. I respect the film and the remake. I have nothing bad to say about what I know and what I do not know..it appears you do. That's all fine. Yes I am a Whitney fan. Very proud to be. I support her good and the bad and I treat everyone I know in the same manner. I hope I can be an inspiration for you to be good to others and set aside the venom.

  • @kyasst. Hey. Since you are so good at predicting the future, please tell me when you will actually have something nice to say instead of these tirades on "Sparkle" videos with your venom.

  • They were a great couple! Idc wat anybody says Stix was a freak! He kept goin after Sparkle until she gave in & dat was after they won da contest & dey did it on the roof!

  • i loove the ending...his tongue motion. Wonderful!!!

  • what was the fourth sister's name ????

  • Am I crazy that I thought Levi and Sparkle wouldve made a better couple? Or at least an interesting couple? I guess its because they were opposites

  • @TheBambieyes the two actors Irene Cara and Dorian Harewood in fact, did play a couple in "Roots: the Next Generations". The

y played Alex Haley's parents Simon and Bertha Haley! Their scenes together were probably the best of the mini series.

  • @kutnup I remember! Its so ironic that Dorian's character was so squeaky clean & Irene's character snubbed Phillip Micheal Thomas' character in Roots: the next generations. I agree their scenes together were so cute, like I said before, I think they have much more chemistry than Irene & Phillip

  • i'm 20 years old and this is MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE ! my gramma used to sit me in front of the tv and pop in the VHS... i would watch it over and over ! if they ever try to recreate this picture, it would not even BEGIN to compete with the original ! irene cara is GORGEOUS and phillip michael thomas is even more GORGEOUS ! this was the perfect cast of characters... AMAZING PRODUCTION ! i recently found the dvd at walmart in the $5 movie bin... can we say EXCITED ! 6 dislikes? ur nuts !

  • @jazzyangel16 Im 22 & Ive llloved this movie too, since I was a little girl. Guess Ive always had a old soul. I love Irene Cara's acting too, she's awesome in FAME & ROOTS the next generations. It would be ludicrous to do a remake. The movie was made in a different time, when singers & actors performed differently, with more feeling. Unless they get a time machine, that cant be duplicated lolz

  • @TheBambieyes well, they were going to do the remake originally with "Aaliyah" cast as Sparkle Williams, and even Irene Cara herself said the remake would be quote,"blessed" to have such a beautiful talent grace that character on screen again. But as we all know Aaliyah passed on, and now Sony has given the green light to cast someone else as Sparkle Williams so who knows whats going to happen.

  • @jermainesmusic2 this was not the same remake, The original that whitney was producing with Aaliyah was with Warner Brothers, and like u said she passed and then whitney had her problems and its didnt happen, but they said whitney is ex producing this and she is having Debra Chase her old producing partner as the producer.

  • @kamimura73 What are you talking about??? The point is that Aaliyah was suppose to do the remake, she was casted as SPARKLE WILLIAMS, and Irene Cara made an official quote about Aaliyah taking on the part. Who cares who the Executive Producers, Directors, Castings Agents, The Sound Man, The Lighting Man, and the film company were???LOL

  • @jermainesmusic2 Do you know where the quote Irene Cara made about it I would really like to read it?

  • The studio screwed up going with Aretha Franklin for the album release...the characters put their hearts into the music AND the roles!!!

  • @TheMandatoryReporter I heard that Curtis Mayfield didn't want to work with the actresses and chose Aretha.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • OMG Phillip Michael Thomas ♥♥♥ this was such a romantic scene and the chemistry between them was amazing. Love it!

  • Gone Stix

  • OMG, this is my absolute favorite part of the movie. For me, it was one of the most romantic scenes ever in a film. What makes it even better is to know that they were really singing this song. Philip Michael Thomas-oh I had a big crush on him! Every time Irene Cara hits that note I get chills! All the women in the movie were so beautiful! Truly an iconic movie that has stood the test of time.

  • The most beautful part of the movie they should have created a soundtrack of them singing this. I love this song and them singing. I love Aretha but they sing it better than her to me.

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO REAL MUSIC ?

  • This is one of my favorite all time movies! Sparkle could sing ha butt off I get chills everytime I see her sing on the movie, AMAZING!!!!!

  • times i love this song i have i seen movie over since i was 16

  • DIS IS MY MOFO MOVIE THE CHEMISTRY THAT THEY HAD IT'S SO WONDERFUL mAN I MISS THE OLD DAYS AND I GOT THIS MOVIE ON DVD I LOVE IRENE CLARA AND STICKS IS FINE!

  • Let's cut it y'all ...

  • I love this song and movie! I think it is one of the best movies ever made! I wish they would show it on cable! This scene, is one of the best parts in the movie! What also makes this scene great is that both of them can sing and they know it!!

  • I love this song and movie! I think it is one of the best movies ever made! I wish they would show it on cable! This scene, is one of the best parts in the movie!

  • OMG... Only REAL LOVE can make you listen to and sing songs like this.

  • @mistadimplz

    AMEN!

  • @tdbrown88tdb lol. After Aaliyah i cannot see the role of 'sister' going to anyone else...perhaps an established actress like Thandi newton, but NO wannabe actress from the music industry. Still so torn up Aaliyah didn't get to film this, she would of shone

  • @CarlaJou1 i forgot about her, cuz in my mind i was thinking paula patton and alicia keys to be in this movie, since they kinda look alike an couldn't think of a third person, but that's just my opinion, and i agree with you about aaliyah nobody can replace her or duplicate her she was that one of a million

  • phillip michael is fine!!!!

  • What I love is that Stix looked at her the whole time like he wanted to eat her up... LOL. Love it...

  • @BlueMommy

YEEESSS!!! And at the end he sticks his tongue out before he kisses her, LMBO

  • @akamizzT Oh yes!!!

  • @akamizzT ....ROTFL...LOVE IT!!!

  • No, I wasn't Stix but neither was I the a** that beat sister up. I was just me and that was good enough.

  • i love the movie sooooo much... and i watch it daily

  • This part of the movie made many women feel they wanted their men to be just like Stix was to Sparkle. I mean this was what LOVE was/is about. Going that extra mile. I know my girlfriend at the time this movie was shown in 1976 wanted me to be another Stix.

  • @Vincent50 And were you vincent huh?.. Did you turn into a "Stix"?.

  • rumors are sayin beyonce is remaking Sparkle...Please dont let her ruin this movie its a classic for a reason...no disrespect to beyonce but i feel you should leave this movie alone!!!!

  • I ♥ this movie

  • I'm looking at the comments here and some of theones posted for "Hooked on your love" , so did Aretha Franklin sing the whole soundtrack for the movie and the actors just sung in the movie? If so I wonder why, Irene Cara and Lonette McKee both have beautiful voices.

  • i love this movie and song its so for real

  • I love this scene...sing it Irene

  • I don't know who is more beautiful and talented, Irene Cara or Vonetta Mcgee.

  • @davettalashley what was the reason for that anyway no offense to areatha, but i liked how the actors sounded in the movie

  • @tmacandi I really think Irene killed this track! I wish I could find it with her on it.. Aretha should have let Irene sing it on the album!!

  • @Esco869 Yeah let Irene sing it since she has so many hits and is on tour selling $100 tickets.. I bet Irene is in the rock & roll Hall of Fame2. & She shouldve sang @ MLK's funeral. Irene iz killing this trak alright.

  • @breaknfoool

It's not to take away from Aretha whom I love, but Irene is very talented--the whole cast is! I also agree with Esco869, in that I wish the album would've included Irene, Lonette, and Philip(the cast) singing on it.

  • THIS SCENE IS SO CLASSIC. I LOVE THIS BETTER THAN GREASE, AND I LOVE THAT MOVIE TOO. BUT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN UP THERE WITH IT

  • A beautiful scene and one of my favs in this movie. I have to pull out my old vhs tape and watch it. Brings back nice memories - great movie.

  • his eyes are scary. are they two different colors or something?

  • @hisboo911 yeah i think they are green

  • I DIDNT EVEN KNOW HE COULD SING UNTIL THIS....lOVE YOU DADDY...RIP ELIJAH COOK JR. AKA POPS

  • I love this part of the movie

  • thats love its beautifl

  • you all know he is really singing this song..just wanted you all to know....

  • This scene still makes me melt and tear up :-)

Stixx and Sparkle are Simply Beautiful 2gether!

  • @Ladysugarshaft When I was 5 and seen this movie i wanted to fall in love just like that. I'll be 20 soon and i still want to be in love like that.

  • @MissLibraLady And you will sweetie, you will. :-)

  • Sticks is what a man should look like

  • If they redo this movie who should play there parts?

  • this gives me goose bumps when she be goin in!!

ii<33 this movie && im only 17 lol

  • @SeXxiiEChiiKa Yes, it did the same to me. When I was 10 and first saw this scene, I knew I wanted to someday fall in love;-) And that was almost 30 yrs ago. lol

  • @SeXxiiEChiiKa Yes, it did the same to me. When I was 10 and first saw this scene, I knew I wanted to someday fall in love;-) And that was almost 30 yrs ago. lol

  • @Ladysugarshaft lol thts cuz its juss soo beautiful lol

  • @SeXxiiEChiiKa Yes indeed! :-)

  • He sure is, and this is an even more beautiful love story!

  • i love this movie

  • DOPE!

  • Curtis Mayfield wa genius with the music for this movie,,,,,,

  • This is raw but still good .

  • @bebreezy.. you said that!

  • Weren't they also in Roots The Next Generation 2gether, if only for a brief moment? I recall her character married Dorian "Levi" Harewood in Roots. My mother told me about when the entire cast toured to sing the songs from the movie. Bronze Malone!!!

  • This movie is truly a classic, it is timeless, I look at often. Irene also sings Precious Lord better than Areatha,in my opinion. Crystal clear notes and tone. How about Curtis Mayfield, he did write and produce all of the music for this movie. He was a gifted artist, may he RIP.

  • Phillip Michael Thomas can sing this song to me 7 day a week.

I love the Queen Aretha, but Irene sing the solo much better.

  • @Lavayda1 I agree. I love Aretha but I wish they would've used the movie version of the songs for the soundtrack.

  • Now if u were a 70's baby u should know bout this here

  • im a 90's baby and i love this stuff

  • i know they hooked up! noway to avoid that sexual chemistry. I sure wish I was the fly on the wall..LOL

  • A tune that cheers me up!! Take care!!

  • If you didint know they were actors, you would swear they were lovers....thats the most sincere part of the movie...

  • Phillup Micheal Thomas sure was fine back in his day.....

  • @mcbaby1520 Yes, Yes, Yes. He was sumthin pretty.

  • not the real thing without whitneys singing it.

  • @hotrodharris When did Whitney sing it?

  • yall know he tapped that a*** after the filming right, cos I heard that kiss was real!

  • i wonder if they're breath smells good?

  • i think so cuz u say the kiss was real he wouldnt have kissed out da blue if her breath was on fire and if his was she wouldnt have let him ya know??

  • i can't help but wonder if in real life PMT hooked up with IC cos he was sooo fine back them PMT was hookin' up with everyone, even ugly women. For real. They make a fierce couple!

  • I LOVE that high note she does!

  • irene should've took that cuz stix is hot

  • Same here! I want THIS VERSION! Not Aretha! UGHHH!!!!

  • i sooo hate that i cant find the mp3 version of Irene Cara singing this all i can find is Aretha

  • Love this part...

  • This is one of my FAV scenes from the movie. Love Irene Cara & Phillip Michael Thomas is FINE!! LOL

  • i totally AGREE!!!!! davettaalashley!!!

  • i love when aretha franklin sang the songs fron this movie

  • My FAVORITE MOVIE... I love this dag on movie... Just makes me smile... Where are they now?

  • my favorite part of the movie

  • This was very romantic. They were the perfect couple. That Irene Cara's voice is awesome. That Philip Michael Thompson is so fine of course. Again this is one of my most favorite movies of all times.

  • WOW!

The love of a good man brings out the best in a good woman!

I want to give you all of me..

    sang it!

  • People dont understand how these actors got beat out of alot of money. This movies grossed over 100 millions which is alot money for that time. This doesnt include DVD , TV etc.......... They were told they were going to do the album. They didnt think it would sell with them.

  • Pay attention: Men. This how a real man brings out the best in his woman. He didn't go slap her around and start threaten her. Sticks was a bad man (in the good way).

  • i agree zheahra this does show a real man uplifting his woman...so rare nowadays....

  • isingjzz u do understand I was talking about the album not the movie. In the movie its their orginal voices.

  • This was my fave part, I love this song.. it touches the pain in ur heart, very inspiring. "Put the bad things behind" for real!

  • They all can sing but they refused to let them do the album. They didnt think these unknowns would sell records. They gave to Aretha Franklin to do. That wasnt fair to the cast.

  • it was fair to our ears though...thank God the producers had some common sense...

  • I love this movie! I wanted to be her and sista. LOL..... Luv this!

  • I aint never seen this whole movie I always came in on this part but this song is tight.

  • Is that his realIs that Phil M. Thomas real voice (I KNOW he's released at least one album during his Miami Vice years but it doesn't sound like this)...he sounds A BIY like Aaron Neville, in the clip.

  • Ira Cara can really sang!!!

  • this is my fav movie. these girls were so beautiful and talented.

  • This is one of my favorite movies....phillip michael thomas is sooooo fine!!!!!

  • Irene cara and phillip michael would of made a great couple! I heard phillip michael is married to a ugly women.

    I love this movie!

  • stix is fine

  • "For the spices of your life you got to pay the price, if you know what I mean.." "Look into ur heart..with a positive mind..ur woman and ur glory..put the bad things behind.."

  • I love her initial shyness or trepidation then it was all made better by 'his' nearness & co-singing. The love is palpable in this scene...'acting' my foot! They had to have 'felt' something for one another in that moment--almost forgetting the cameras were rolling. "I know my man he really loves me, we don't get that everyday.." For you, Poppa Bear oxoxo...

  • i thought the same thing sage! i don't think the virginal ms. cara was quite the same after that kiss from philip michael. i often wonder what happened behind the scenes. hmmmm........

  • This is Rielle in a past life... wow Tom I hope you see this comment

  • Loved this movie Irene Cara is amazing!!!

  • I like this song but i still never seen the whole movie.

  • THIS USED TO BE MY JAM!

  • Is there anyway you could put this back on so I can download this please

  • This is my favorite part. This was a great movie.

  • He should have done his own version. I like his voice better than hers on this one.

  • they sung the hell out of that song

  • My exact thought...LOL

it's one of my fav. scenes in the movie

  • This needs to be on VH1 or MTV's sexiest shots.

    Don't yaw agree?

  • oh yes most definitely!

  • i looooooove this movie soo much...

" i know my man he really love's me you know we don't have that everyday" darn i really love that part

  • Me and my folks sit up and keep rewinding the movie over,over..one of the BEST movie EVER.. Sista can't fly on one wing..

  • One of my most favorite duets in the whole world Stix put it down & brought it out of Sparkle. Irene Cara can blow, I don't care what anybody says!

  • mayun, i didn't know that guy could sing. but he always reminded me of smokey robinson when i saw him on miami vice lol

  • this a nice song

  • this was my movie!!!!!!!! i miss watchin it. i love this song. my dvd came wit a cd too wit this song and like 4-5 others from the movie.i love this song.
