This song was on the flip side of the Schools Out single and my friends and I would play it on a Juke Box at our local pinball parlour in the mid 70's; became a bit of a cult song. The venue was Banana Ridge Kiosk Pialba, Hervey Bay Queensland Australia. Thanks for posting.
I recently saw West Side Story on TCM and was surprised to hear where they "borrowed" the last half of this song. At least they gave Bernstein a co-writer credit.
I wish I was a teenager or an adult (back) in the 70's (Please don't worry about feeling "old." I'm gonna be 40 August 30, 2010)! "Looking back," via YouTube, I missed A LOT of GREAT shows! When you saw him, who opened for Alice-or did Alice open for someone?
im 20 years old and alice cooper is the first music i ever remember hearing i dont know how i was exactly but old enough to walk ive loved him ever since he is god
I have created the ULTIMATE Alice Cooper playlist! Just click on my account and got to playlists. Theres a TON of artists there! I have a playlist full of nothing but Alice Cooper music vids and live shows! Over 80 vids! Check it out!
School's Out did not have a chance of surviving being played to death! Love the cover, too, too much! That album fell apart and I wound up buying another one.
I DO know what I missed !! I'm 20, and I'm a huge Cooper fan, I wish I were born in the late 50's to see the Alice Cooper Group with a teenager's eyes
When Brett Favre moved to the NY Jets, my coworkers all said, "well, I guess he's a Jet now." I said, "Well, you know, when you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way from you're first cigarette to your last dying day." I swear, in a room of 26 people, one person sort of got it. She said, "oh, Alice Cooper, right?" I said, "Well, really West Side Story, but yeah, Alice Cooper too."
This shows that Alice & company were clearly thinking of different ways of developing their stage show. Seems primitive but it's really interesting for 1972. Must have supprised quite a few people.
Get A Grip !!!!!! What is this, try to get the last insult?? Whatever you call him, the man is great. The origional band was great & he went on to prove he could be just as good with others.
Heeeeey very rare !! good quality ! Why doesn't Cooper release a f... DVD with all these great videos instead of the ridiculous "dirty diamonds tour" that nobody care ???!!!! Anyway, thank you very much for post this
Have you noticed that his voice resembles Mick Jagger? I first heard this tune about 20 years ago and loved it. Being a West Side Story fan, I appreciated this tune and Vincent even more!
Yes, I am an asshole, but has nothing to do with this. Also, since everyone was calling him Alice even before he legally changed his name, do you have a special bond with him that you can call him Vince?
His real name & birthname are two different things, so there isnt "in other words." It's legally Alice Cooper, and has been his real name for 30+ years.
In fact I'll direct you to Alice Cooper's FAQ:
3. Is Alice Cooper his real name?
It is his real and legal name, but he was born Vincent Damon Furnier
his "real" name is Vincent Furnier, born in February (i think the 4th?) in detroit, MI.
the rumor i heard is he was playing w/ a Ouija board and that's how the name "Alice Cooper" came up - it was the name of a witch hanged at salem. but don't quote me!

@fallspeed BORROWED??? Have you ever heard of a band playing a COVER SONG??
killdaclownz 1 year ago
@fallspeed Sampling is nothing new; it's not a cover of it, and of course Bernstein got credit. ASCAP rules and all... he gotz paid, too. =)

My first concert was AC back in 1974. To say I was blown away would be an understatement.
And SO many other bands took their cue from him...he opened up a whole new genre as well as setting new standards for stage shows.

Who is Alice supposed to be? Gutter Cat or The Jets?
TheNightmare75 2 years ago
Well to my point of view, Alice is acting like two different characters for both gangs. So he's basically just acting.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
"do you have a special bond with him that you can call him Vince?"
That's asking my why I call him by his first name, asshole.
Vince isn't what I thought his real name was, it WAS his name, asshole.
If you were half as smart as you think you are, you'd be twice as smart as you really are.
Bye, bye, asshole! Yup, just stinky and full of shit. Mother's or daddys side?

Hardly.

"That's your opinion."
Very good Mr. Obvious. What next, you're going to tell us that this is Alice Cooper performing in the video?
thealphacenturi 4 years ago
No, the obvious is that you're an asshole.
But since you seem to know so much, tell me...was Alice Cooper first the singer or the group?
24Lancelot 4 years ago
The group. Any other questions?
Didn't think so.
thealphacenturi 4 years ago
I agree with Lance, you're an asshole. I aso agree that early Vince sounds like Jagger.
hsker24fan 4 years ago
Yes, I am an asshole, but has nothing to do with this. Also, since everyone was calling him Alice even before he legally changed his name, do you have a special bond with him that you can call him Vince?
Nope.
thealphacenturi 4 years ago
True, most assholes don't know they are one. Glad you recognize.
Why does me calling this celebrity by his real name bother you? Don't say it doesn't and don't say you don't care, cuz it seems to rub you wrong.
24Lancelot 4 years ago
"Why does me calling this celebrity by his real name bother you?"
Because it isn't his real name.
thealphacenturi 4 years ago
Oh, what is his real name? In other words, his birth name, asshole?

You asked me "why do you call him Vince". I told you. I don't care if he legally changed his name, his mama named him Vince, I call him Vince.
Bye bye, asshole. Just like one, too...stinks and full of shit.
24Lancelot 4 years ago
"You asked me "why do you call him Vince". I told you."
No you didn't. You just asked me why there was a problem with you calling him by what you thought was his real name.
"I don't care if he legally changed his name, his mama named him Vince, I call him Vince."
So your throwing yourself in with his mother now? Nice.
"Bye bye, asshole. Just like one, too...stinks and full of shit."
If that's the best you can do....
