  • Lol, go ahead, shut down the post office. When you are paying $50.00 to send a Christmas card to your grandma, remember how bad you had it. Compare the cost now, with a public option. Then imagine what it will be like with only private sector options. The post office gets zero tax payer money. A stamp goes up a penny, everyone flips out. A gallon of gas goes up a penny, nobody even notices.

  • Why aren't more people talking about this???

  • This vid is a favorite on Albania

  • Everything is not as it seems. Watch The Postal Wife and share. thanks.

  • If the government can't compete with the private sector then why would anyone want to throw good money after bad to keep a less efficient system functioning that actually hinders and takes business away from the better one?

How did Americans get to the fascist, and stupid mentality that the government and central planning is better than free markets, competition, and laissez-faire capitalism even in the face of hard plain undeniable and overwhelming evidence?

How does the world fall for it?

  • @Martial024

What do you mean can't compete? They compete quite well. If I had a choice between paying $12 to USPS deliver a package that arrived in 4 days, or paying $30+ to have it delivered in 3 days by Fedex, I'm likely going with the former.

As for central planning, again you need to read some more. The internet you're using right now is due to government "central planning". Certainly not to "laissez-fair capitalism".

Let me guess, "Young Republicans", right?

  • postal service is not first class, 30 years I have been there, they call overtime every day for 30 years, unnessary overtime, many many lazy employees and trouble makers overtime ripoff repent

  • I keep trying to mail a letter. The USPS says it doesn't have to pick up mail. They say they're only rerquired to deliver it. How the HELL do you deliver mail if you aren't required to pick it up in the first place? Then, when they do deliver a letter, they toss it on top of the outgoing mail. Time to privatize the postal system and fire the incompetent IDIOTS who work in the post office.

  • ~^~^~^~In 2006 REPUBLICANS mandated that the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) begin a 10 yearr process of pre-paying all health & retirement benefits for all employees it may hire up to 75 years from now! THE GOAL: To create the ILLUSION that USPS, a NON tax payer funded profit making agency, is on the verge of FINANCIAL COLLAPSE! REPUBLICANS want toBREAK THE POSTAL UNION, lay off 125,000 AMERICANS & PRIVATIZE USPS . REPUBLICAN RACKETEERING & GREED ARE DESTROYING AMERICA! ! ~

    ^^~^

  • Why UPS and Fedex are contributing heavily to the republicans? Because they want the puppet masters (g.o.p leaders) to shut down the postal system so that the private carriers like Fedex and UPS can boost their business. The republicans started this mess. You tell them to fix it.

  • @dragonlancet Hell, after seeing the incompetence of the usps, I'm all in favor of privatizing this shit.

  • @carlgottstein The postal service took in around 45 billion dollars this year. How does 45 billion dollars = noone?

  • The fact is, the government bailed out the banks with hundreds of billions of your tax dollars. Now, you couldn't get a loan from the bank if you wanted to. But in this case, the government won't even help out the post office bottomline because the average taxpayer benefits from the postal service daily. Are you getting the picture? The government has absolutely no respect for the common man, they could care less if you ever get another piece of mail.

  • Neither hail nor snow nor sleet nor rain will stop the US Postal Service. Except money

  • Thank your gov for this

  • This sucks! How am I gonna mail things out anymore? I always sent my stuff first class and media mail. Now I have to use more expensive services like Fedex and UPS? This blows!

  • Republicans are trying to put ALL means of profit into the hands of a literal handful of people no matter what damage it does to all the rest of us or the country. How is this not treason?

  • I love the USPS. It works very well, has never missed a piece of mail for me, and my local mailman is a very pleasant gentleman who has done me many favors. At UPS, no one sticks around long enough for you to develop a relationship with them.

  • @scorchedearthdj YAH I LOVE IT TOO!!! ..........the onlty problem is.......ANY ONE SHOULD BE AS GOOD FOR THE PRICE THEY CHARGE!!!!!!

  • @MsKahla #1, why are you shouting? #2 Who does it better? Spain? Uruguay? Tonga?

  • @bobcows wut? is that supppouse to offend someone due the discriminational origin?

  • @MsKahla Nope, certainly not trying to offend.

  • @bobcows usps, does it better I am an online seller, soooo yep, I know better.

  • they are being bankrupted deliberately

  • @finefilth let me read your palm.........republican? extremist christian?

  • Scubaguy should go back underwater. Disinformation will not fix or help anything. I work adverage 10 hours a day get bit by dogs get complained to by people who made their bills and I do it for my family and the great majority of people on my route who are fine people and grateful customers.

  • my mom works for the post office and works 9hours per day on average. We live in a city of 50,000 people. When she heard the post office is losing as much money as it's been reported, she's flabbergasted.

I was waiting for a story like this to tell her the truth behind it all

  • Nothing but a junk mail delivery service, subsidized by taxpayers. Charge what it costs to deliver the mail per-piece or shut it down.

  • @ScubaGuy7777 Postal revenues don't come from tax dollars.

  • @TheAnnoyingTroll7 Keep on believing that, and dig deep. Congress will bail them out alright.. with taxpayer money, to be sure.

  • @ScubaGuy7777 Its a fact jackass. If there's a bailout with tax dollars you will be able to say that but up to this point postal revenues come from postage. The last time the postal service recieved any tax dollars was in the early 80's. When the older generation dies there will be no need for the postal service but at this point a lot of them dont even know how to use a computer.

  • @TheAnnoyingTroll7 It takes one to know one, jackass.

  • @ScubaGuy7777 The USPS is NOT subsidized. Do your research before you speak!

  • @bobcows Keep believing that! I have some swamp land in Florida to sell you. The bailout is coming, on the backs of the taxpayers. Believe it!

  • @ScubaGuy7777 Geez, for someone who's been suckling on the government teat since they got out of high school, you're kind of bitter towards the government. Did 30 years in the Air Force ruin you for civilian life? You must have failed the Post Office exam, that would explain your comments here.

  • @bobcows Resorting to personal attacks defines you precisely.

  • @ScubaGuy7777 your a horrible person .......but I'm sure u know that xD

  • @MsKahla Get a life.

  • Respond to this video... before you give me the spelling reply, yah I know wut I wroted, is ok with me, I can always learn to type, you still a baddy

  • Wow, a news media that has got the facts right . The 70 years of prefunding of future retiree's health care is ludicrous! Let's be fair and at least refund the 50-70 billion overpaid in the retiree's pension funds.

  • How come Cops get a new car every 2 years, but the PO has been driving the same crap for decades?

  • @RBLA818 Because Post Office employees don't beat on their vehicles chasing after coffee and donuts everyday!

  • @blendn61

If there wasn't a union to protect the craft employees not one would ever retire, as soon as their bodies started to break down from years of wear and tear they would get rid of them. Is that what you think a person should be rewarded with after years of service?

  • @blendn61

It's always the unions... please get your facts straight. The post office has been reducing it's workforce for years through attrition, I don't have exact numbers but they are considerable. I don't believe the no lay off clause has been included in a contract in many years. Even so, they have always been able to transfer any worker for 180 miles as the crow flies... I'm sure many would resign before uprooting their families , If there were no union no one in a craft job would

  • i wouldn't want to lose the mail man. service is outstanding.

  • Hey America, wake the heck up! This is about the working middle class being attacked. Don't let these ____ get away with it!!!

  • @Antgne Attacked by whom? Name some names and provide evidence. Considering you aren't even mature enough to use "bad words" I think it is safe to assume that you don't actually know and just follow along with what you hear. lol Prove me wrong...

What harm do you think you will do if you say fuck, or assholes, or bitches, or whatever word you can think of. Its your own irrational prejudice that gives them power!

  • The post office losing money because much of it is being taken over by the internet people don't mail letters and bills like they use to, not to mention competition from other companies that deliver mail locally, They operate as if the new technology does not exist. one day they will have to cut back on its workers on a massive scale. They going to ask for bailout money instead of cutting back just like the banks, and they will get it adding to the nations debt and inflation.

  • @jerryjamify Believe it or not the internet is actually helping the Postal Service with generating increased package deliveries. Also Fed-Ex and UPS stop at post offices everyday dropping off parcels for the post office to deliver. The post office can deliver them cheaper than they can. So they make more profit off what they drop off to post offices. The BIG problem now is the propaganda being put out there by politicians who are backed by Fed-Ex and UPS. They want it ALL!

  • @cedcampbell You may be right, I dont know that much about it, it just seemed logical that increased competion, emails and sending envoices by internet would hurt them.thanks for the info I wasnt aware of that...

  • @cedcampbell That is one thing I do not understand is how people blame the internet for the problems of the USPS. It might hurt with regular mail (paying bills, sending letters, est.). But with on-line shopping, shouldn't the internet help the USPS make money with sending packages?

  • What this man says is probably true and on the money...the problem is that the postal service sold out to United States citizens a long time ago by allowing any immigrant off the boat a job there...ohh the share the wealth bullshit...people do not realize that there are ethnic "clicks" that hire people from places like the Phillipines to take American jobs

  • All post office buildings and vehicles should be self-sustaining with green energy. The post office could even sell excess power production to the grid. That's at least half the problem solved right there.

  • I am a conservative who has worked with USPS. We have many former hippies who work there with little discipline, displaying insane vanity, and talk libtard trash. Some are overpaid for what they do. But in this instance I agree that USPS's financial problems are properly outlined in this news story. The prefunding requirement passed in 2006 is the major cause of USPS's financial troubles. Due to this stupid legislation we have little money to deal with maintenance issues or to improve services.

  • Its the only part of the government that works and supports a middle class. Of course the Republicans want to destroy it.

  • Why do people that take jobs with the government then turn around and whine about working conditions to justify the pay? You're not creating world peace, splitting the atom, or solving the energy crisis; you're delivering mail.

  • Comment removed

  • USPS rocks... if we lose them to privatization then America will be the worse off for it. As a small business owner who ships using USPS almost every day, I can say that they have been reliable, quick and most importantly they are the most affordable service around. Congress, acting on orders from their debt masters in the City of London, are clearly trying to destroy the foundations of the American economy.

  • Amazing how many people think postal workers are overpaid, I would like to see these same people walk a ten mile route, 5-6 days a week, carrying 20-30 lb. mail bag, deal with the incredible weather conditions, dogs, traffic, and constantly having to deal with being on schedule. Mail trucks can reach 115 degrees in summer. You have to be trustworthy. People who bitch about junk mail, will watch the most idiotic TV adds for hours, and not think twice bout it. Its not an easy job by any standard!

  • @1FendrBendr

Couldn't say it better myself. It's not easy. We earn every penny we make!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I payed almost quarter million dollars in shipping with the USPS and overall I am amazed at how efficiently their system works. I have no big complaints as postage and labels are all done online and parcels picked up by USPS truck each day. This 5 billion dollar forced contribution rule is ridiculous and needs to be aborted.

  • NO WAY can ups and fedx deliver to every single address in this country every day. The USPS is the only one set up with the infrastructure to handle the job. And by the way I'm a city carrier for the USPS now for 15 years. Believe me when I say that there are 240,000 carriers working our asses to provide the best service possible. Are start times keep getting later a hell of lot later than ups and fedx. Postal management is hell bent on eliminating routes making the existing ones bigger.

  • what's up with the chemtrails in the background

  • I am Canadian and lived in the US for three years. The US Postal Service is first class. Thank you.

  • @coolhandjackman

OMG! A Canadian that likes us!

  • Can't pay for gas for their trucks??!! Do YOU remember when mailmen walked? They also carried with them a rather heavy leather bag. (filled with mail, of course).

I wonder how much they could save by requiring mailmen to walk?

  • @bentoncoar they walk plenty, i don't ever see the mailman driving from house to house, i see him walking from house to house to house walk walk walk.

  • @jcdcsc I don't know where you live, but in my town of 50,000, the USPS required many neighborhoods to put up curbside mail boxes. The letter carrier (driver) then drives his/her funny little vehicle from box to box all over the neighborhoods. I believe their fannies are glued to the seats!

  • @bentoncoar The reason that some areas require curbside boxes is to speed up delivery of the mail. A carrier in a truck can deliver faster than 2 carriers on foot, especially if the houses are not very close together. Many customers complain if a carrier walks across their grass as a shortcut to the next house. Carriers are also given less time to sort all the mail for individual customers before hitting the streets and do so in their trucks at the mail box. Hard to do while walking!

  • @bentoncoar They'd have to hire 2 times more carriers than there are now. You can't WALK a mounted route!

  • de facto, awww, what a shame =]

  • Close the postal service, UPS/FEDEX/Speedee delivery can do everthing the USPS can do. Poor SOBs whining about their retirement, benefits. They need to work in the private sector, US is a for profit capitalist nation, businesses that don't cut the cheeze go broke, USPS is BROKE inefficient, and not to mention the attitudes the USPS have... pathetic...what the hell do we owe them??? I have to struggle to save for my own damn reitirement..............

  • @jay196543 How can those outfits provide universal service? They can't even deliver all their parcels now. USPS does a huge amount of "last mile" deliveries for them. Not to mention they charge more for the service they do provide.

  • @jay196543 You're an idiot...so turn over the Postal Service to a private corporation that will make the upper 2% of this country richer??? THAT is NOT capitalism....I know...let's do away with ALL retirement, any kind of benefit and let the middle class and the less fortunate starve to death....private sector my ass! You are a mere drone of millions and you don't mean crap to the upper 2%! You're expendable!

  • @jay196543 you didn't listen to the video did you, no one is whining about their retirement benefits... the point is that the post office is required to fund their retirement programs so far in the future that the people who would benefit from it haven't even been born yet. No other company in the united states is required to do that and if the postal service wasn't they would be making a profit ( a profit that would be seized and spent by congress)...

  • additionally no other company is going to deliver anything without making a profit... so be prepared for higher rates

  • @jay196543 'businesses that don't cut the cheeze go broke'

    like the banks, right?

  • @scorchedearthdj WUT WUT WUT?

  • usps needs to be closed, the average government employee makes twice what the average private employee does.....let fedex and ups handle the mail....no more subsidies to all the corps for junk mail, save the trees and toxic ink...apply all those un-needed retirement funds to the debt...then we can watch all those lazy bastards go "postal"

  • Pony Express, over 100+ years old, with an excellent track record is in the sights of Zio Jews, who want their Pensions....Billions with a B.

Average Salary is far less than private worker-cited off Simply Hired:

'The average salary for post office jobs is $45000'

Youre a Lying, Disinfo agent, and shillstein

They are promoting class warfare to further divide and conquer...while they rob us blind and destroy our dollar.

  • @StSimonMartyr Anti Semite much?

  • Anti Gentile much?

  • @CaptKangeroo of course the man who started fedex is a knight of malta, same as bush, gulliani, so many others. Wouldn't want any competition.

  • Hartman is a Zionist Liberal tool. RT needs to ditch this idiot.

  • Fucking REPUBLICANs

  • ,,don't be fooled by the name, USPS is a 'private' company. I hope u.s. (long since) unemployed folks get some of the $timulUS

    money one day......

  • @wolfdaddy205 The United States Postal Service (also known as USPS, the Post Office or U.S. Mail) is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for providing postal service in the United States. It is one of the few government agencies explicitly authorized by the United States Constitution.

  • the rich are DESPERATELY looking for a bloody, violent uprising. if they keep pushing down on working people this way they're going to get it.

i think it's time to do to the rest of congress what that freak did to gabrielle giffords.

  • @WikeddTung This is exactly why they are creating the security infrastructure they are creating since they (the crooks that run things) are getting ready to plunder EVERYTHING and the day isn't far when displaced citizens will begin to take matters into their own hands regardless of the consequences. The congress critters loath that eventuality and the ruthless crooks that own them are preparing for it.

  • @WikeddTung You wouldn't know work if you fell over it you imposter.i know your type liar.

  • @Srekwah morons like YOU are why the rich & corporatists are able to manipulate the middle class into voting against its own interests. i TEACH at a private university in NY & i have a consulting business both of which i've done for almost a decade. but because FACTS like that don't reinforce the narrow self-serving & comforting narrative YOU CHOOSE to believe you invent fantasies to believe instead. like "people who disagree with me don't work." folks like YOU shouldn't be allowed to vote.

  • but some postal employees did a lot of damage to their cause, so rude and such poor service, I mean I don't think will get better if they shut the post office, but still did they have to have such poor attitude?

and the legislation that Thomm describes sounds like something out of the onion, but I'm sure it's totally coincidental, not haha

  • @capucchan8 Sorry you had a bad experience with your Carrier or your last trip to the Post Office, but you must realize that you are generalizing with your negative statement. "They" doesn't describe MOST postal workers.

  • @bobcows oh I know that

  • same in uk i work for royal mail
