Wicca is basically a highly eclectic blend of high magical practices, Jewish mysticism, Crowley/The Order of the Golden Dawn, etc, often with Celtic themes/aesthetics overlaid.
Pentagrams, circle casting, elemental properties, etc... no Germanic or Celtic religions used such devices.
That's not to say it's invalid in any way, but it's not a recreation of the past.
@withindarkness Even if it was, so what? Xtianity was a recreation of Judaism 2000 years ago. And from there 38,000 denominators were "recreated." The world is naturally magical, imo, any way you use your consciousness will prove effectively. That's why people complain about how religion tries to ensnare your consciousness.

Yeah, I don't know anyone who shares my taste in music. My brother likes a lot of it, but that's mostly on the metal and dark folk side of things. I want to start a sort of pagan band like Omnia/Faun with some goth/rock thrown in or something, but there's no chance of that happening here.
I agree with what Shadowcast said. I am Pagan also, and some of us aren't Wiccan or Heathen or Astaru, we are "JUST" Pagan. Paganism is a term such as Christianity, an umbrella term for lots of different religions. What we are now is Neo-Pagan, Paganism such as Hellenism and Kemeticism does predate Christianity which is what the majority of our beliefs are based on as well asthe Christian Beliefs (see Nicean Creed/Council) Stop arguing for the love of the gods !

Paganism is a very loose umbrella term for a wide variety of beliefs and religions. The term is somewhat similar to "eastern religions" that includes the obvious Buddhism, Hinduism and tons of other less known religions. Of course, to be a Pagan, one doesn't have to define themselves as anything else, but "Paganism" itself isn't very precise. :-)

Well it's very simple. Christianity was spread mainly trough similarity with old beliefs, because people don't tend to just Switch beliefs. And in some places it was taken only for political reasons (for not going to war with crazed fanatics). So most of the nations that took it kept their original beliefs, although usually they hid them underneath christianity. And many of them are kept even now or are fully integrated. While wicca is just a way of taking money from magic-hungry teenagers.

Funny, becuse wicca originates from the 20th century. I guess christianity is a 21th century phenomenon in your belief?
Paganism, on the other hand, IS older than Christianity. And as I said, Christianity is 10 times more pagan than wicca (or any other neo-paganist sect) because it has incorporated centuries old pagan traditions. Well at least the Orthodox Church.

If you did your research, Wicca is Paganism and an adaptation to the old ways pre-Christianity. Same belief concepts. Similar beliefs and celebrations to the time of King Bridei and hence before him. As SilverAngel stated, do more research.

I love this song! It makes me feel so humble and almost teary-eyed thinking of the damage humans have done to the planet. For me, this song kind of takes on a sacred hymn quality and a meditative chant. Inkubus Sukkubus is just plain the best!
