  • wow, what a meticulous review...

  • @00Pablo01

Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker As a true RE fan, what are your opinions of the upcoming RE6? I'm seriously concerned about the horror elements/

  • @00Pablo01

I've only just recently disputed with someone regarding the horror elements of RE6. They attempted to classify me as childish for wanting horror in a game or any other medium for that matter.

I'll be 110% honest, I "will" be playing RE6 but I'm a little hesitant concerning the horror elements. RE1 will always have a place in my memories, but perhaps RE6 will resurrect a new species of horror.

Once again, glad you enjoyed my review and any more comments are welcome :)

  • Great job! One of the best reviews I've seen to date!

  • @RetroMan1371

I'm humbled, I saw this mostly as a passionate project, not a professional one. Thank you :)

  • BEST GAME REVIEW EVER!!! I LOVE THIS VIDEO THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LIKE HOW U EXPRESS URSELF ;) N THE DOORS N THE CAMERAS MAKE THE GAME UNIQUE I THOUGH I WAS THE ONLY 1 WHO THOUGHT THE DOORS N THE ANGLE CAMERA MAKE THE MANSION SCARIEST ;) THANK U SO MUCH

  • @Johnyusa7

    You're very welcome!

  • would you say this is your favorite game

  • @Thefreeman154

    Favourite horror game yes :)

  • i must say, i do enjoy your reviews. i agree that games like system shock 2 and RE remake are fantastic survival horror games, whereas games in the genre nowadays favor fairness over the concept of "the game vs you". however, i must ask: don't you ever feel that you over-analyze some aspects of the game? havent you considered that maybe the camera angles are the way they are because tank controls, tight corridors, and free moving cameras dont mix well? not everything has a deeper meaning ya kno

  • @piranha483

I'm glad you enjoy my reviews.

I am self-aware that some may think I over-analyse the games I scrutinize, but I believe elements don't always have to intentionally mean something for them to do so.

In other words even if the creators didn't intend the elements to have deeper meaning, that doesn't necessarily mean they don't for the players.

Hope my response satisfied you, and thank you for an interesting comment.

  • Wow, Amnesia didn't scare you? O_O Amnesia scared me 20x's more than Resident Evil REmake did, but RE Remake is still my favorite game of all time ^^

  • @assassin6637

Amnesia had its moments for me, but due to various "things" I came to notice, its scare factor degraded for me.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker Well it may not be for everyone, but it was still an enjoyable/memorable/terrifying experience for me ^^ I'm currently playing Resident Evil 3 for the first time as I heard from different people that it's a pretty intense entry in the franchise. Also, what are your feelings on the newer entries? (RE4, 5, 6). Just curious :)

  • @assassin6637

I've never played any of the other titles, only Resident Evil 4... I loved it.

  • oh ebay i can get my dad to give her 20 and she buy it for me good idea

  • @MrDylan125005

Good luck... but remember, it isn't intended to be fun. It's intended to be scary and challenging...

  • i want it i want it omg omg omg i cant find it anywere i live in ireland and its no were

  • @MrDylan125005

Ebay has some pretty reasonable copies, Amazon also though the prices are higher.

  • nice review really enjoyed it i must say

  • @iFartedForLongTime

    You're welcome.

  • Amazing!

  • @robotcow28

    Thank you!!

  • Even better than the other review you did! Absolutely phenomenal!

  • @SOCDutch

    Thank you!!

  • bout time we have someone who appreciates this game for what it truly is and doesn't write it off as cheap cliche jump-out scare stuff

  • @ThotdFan127

I know, I was getting tired of reading such comments.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker these idiots have either 1. not played the game 2, have such a simple perception of visuals that they have to see overly morbid monsters to be scared (pyramid head), or the one htat occcurs most 3. Silent Hill fanboys

  • This is an insanely thorough review, you covered so many aspects of the game while spoiling incredibly little, very good stuff.

  • @Tullppa

    Thank you so much :)

  • Wow this is hands down the most thorough and entertaining review Ive ever watched well done amazing!!!

  • @0salinski0

    You're most welcome.

  • you know whats creepier than the games you review (ive watched system shock 2 before this one) is the way you narrate during the videos... wow man... first class reviews bro.... cheers from inda.. \m/ could you do a review for system shock 1...??

  • @skymonkeyGTFO

Thank you so much. I'm not sure about System Shock 1, simply due to compatability issues. However, I do have other reviews planned. Thanks again ;)

  • great review man

  • @haloroxbad

  • Excellent review! I do not say this lightly - you are one of the best online critics I have had the good fortune of coming across. Your review was intriguing and insightful and felt almost like a study text in game criticism. I can't believe it has taken me so long to watch one of your videos after you subscribed to my channel so many months ago. I'll definitely be checking more of your stuff out! thumbs up from me =)

  • @MichaelLeroi

And thank you for your Resident Evil Zero review, so far I have loved every minute of it :)

  • Do you have a video review of R.E. 4 on the Gamecube? I just bought it and while in many ways it's superior I find it doesn't have any of the atmosphere and sense of dread that made this one a minor legend. Also it's WAY too camp and lighthearted I feel. Have any opinions?

  • @TheAmethystScorpion

Resident Evil 4 was for me "and in some ways still is", the absolute pinnacle of action/horror gaming. For a dedicated fan of the series who's expecting a sincere, re-envisioned continuation of the classic elements... may be left with a sour taste in their mouth.

If you want to enjoy Resident Evil 4, you have to forget it has any apparent relevance to the title of Resident Evil... that's what I have to say. Any more questions are 100% welcome.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker yeah agree completely. There are certain expectations that come with a R.E title and this really is resident evil in name only (bit like Turok 3 on N64).

  • @TheAmethystScorpion

I hope you enjoy it regardless... and if you can I would love to hear snippets of feedback, pertaining to your experience with RE4.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker sure no problem on here or private email? I have to take it in small doses though because it gives me terrible motion sickness.

  • @TheAmethystScorpion

Just here in the comments, thank you.

  • @TheAmethystScorpion

And motion sickness? I'm sorry to hear that... take all the time you need.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker I have the same problem with Turok 2 and Golden Eye. My first impression though of RE4 is that its what I THOUGHT the first one was going to be like. I never saw the play-station one but on the Cube remake and RE Zero being so blown away by the sound and artwork of the game it's easy to forget that much of the time it was also virtually unplayable due to the abysmally poor control the player actually has over the characters. In this respect RE4 is much more enjoyable.

  • @TheAmethystScorpion

It is indeed a gargantuan leap in terms of controls, that was my first impression as well.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker its been a couple of years since I touched the remake so I forgot most of it but I can say that playing it alongside RE4 I'm surprised at how little actual game play the remake has yet it has the "shocks". RE4 has all the playability but none of the psychological impact though so I guess that's why the first one is so well remembered.

  • best review ive ever seen im left breathless in awe of this game...

  • @geek17171

    *Bows*

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker man you realy showed resident evil haters the light of this game. im sure this video made alot of heads turn.

  • @geek17171

I hoped this video would do that :)

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker can you do resident evil 3? i would like to see your opinion on that.

by the way... i loved how you realy took notice of even the detail of the doors.

  • @geek17171

Thank you, the doors were very important for me.

  • @geek17171

I'm glad it means that much to you, thank you so much.

  • Sounds like the lovechild of David Attenborough and Vincent Price.

  • Fantastic review! You have a different and interesting approach to video reviewing. Really caught my interest for the game, though Im unsure if I will bare to play it. It just looks too scary

  • @wanabeknut

Thank you, and i'm glad it scared you!

  • This review reminds me so much of Stephen's reviews :(

Great review and RIP Stephen, he was a good friend

  • @SuperEmperorNapoleon

I still actually watch his videos... hopefully they will not be taken down by Youtube.

  • Great review.

People who hate RE games fir no reason should find them self in a zombified mansion. That would show them.

  • this game also holds a special place in my heart. the eloquent review you have done clearly shows your love and reverence you have for the game as well. well done on this beautiful piece of work my friend, well done. i find myself watching this almost every day as it takes me back to that place.

  • @bwilljt

I'm so touched that my video means that much to you, that is what was intended for the fans from the very beginning. Thank you :)

  • @bwilljt

By the way, i'm sorry about the bad video quality :(

  • While I think you delivered a good review, I have to say I thoroughly disagree that Resident Evil is as scary as you make out. I havn't played the gamecube remake but Ive seen a lot of it and played the original several times as well as most of the rest in the series. I think it's a great series but none of the games are that scary. Have you played the Silent Hill series? That's where the real scares are at.

  • @gilgamesh310

The remake is vastly different, you should at least play it before making any assumptions based on the other instalments. Also beware, this game occupies a very, VERY special place in my heart, in the same way System Shock 2 did to Antisocialfatman. I will defend it to the very end.

By the way, I respect what the Silent Hill series stands for, but I wasn't actually that affected by it. Amnesia didn't do it for me either... call me crazy, but it's true.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker Have you played other games in the RE series?

I like the series a lot but I only get scared by it in the shock sense, which is cheap. I think the Hunters and Lickers are great enemies though. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favourite games of all time, but not for the scares. have you played that?

  • @gilgamesh310

Yes, I adore RE4... and like you, not for its horror. However, I have to admit that I found much of its content to be surprisingly frightening... especially the regenerators.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker Yeah the regenerators freaked me out a bit. The chainsaw enemeis did too. As soon as I heard the revving of the chainsaw, I panicked and flicked through my weapons radically, to make sure I had the best one.

  • @gilgamesh310

Preytell, which weapons did you choose?

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker The shotgun most of the time. It didn't really matter. It was the one that got the job done. It was a fairly easy game overall, but some of the sections invoked a piercing fear in me.

  • @gilgamesh310

    Animal fear? :)

  • @gilgamesh310 And play Vanquish. Shinji Mikami is a god among men.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker fantastic review, man. I shall be watching more!

  • @genericutubechannel

    Thank you :)

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker Do you take requests for reviews? if so i would love for you to do penumbra. and i absolutly love your reviews

  • Great review, you really get under the skin of the game and show why its so superb. REmake is the pinnacle of survival horror.

  • @Relugus

Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • wow, there are people out there who play as chris? :P

  • @MichaelLeroi

    Yes!

  • This is a perfect example as to how a game should be reviewed. Nice work.

P.S. This review creeped me out especially since I'm watching it at night XD

  • @assassin6637

Thank you, and I'm glad it scared you :)

  • you seem to care about games in a similar way to me, it's quite nice to see.

other video game reviews from "professional"(gamespot, escapist, ign) make your work look like a fucking bbc documentary.

  • @Te4RHyP3

    Thank you so much :)

  • @Te4RHyP3 this could be a bbc documentary :p if television wasnt so mundane and terrible

  • @Brahillia very true, it's been almost 2 years since I've used my TV to watch television

it's beautiful - because when you do see it, you realize how ridiculous it is.

  • amazing review men, have you played amnesia the dark descent?

  • @fede9520

    Yep.

  • amazing review man, as always. i love that you refined everything you said in the earlier review and added a very unapologetic cinematic element to it. really is very much a personification of the game itself, being very cliche but having such a mastery of the elements of it that you see why it was effective in the first place. truly awesome. :)

  • @theSneakySasquatch

100% what I was trying to say, thank you.

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker lol no problem, you the man!

  • I just REplayed the REmake last night in its entirety and stumbled upon your review today, and I have to compliment you. This is the best review I have ever seen. You truly explore the psychology of the horror within the mansion, which is just as terrifying as the countless BOW's within.

  • @DayOfTheBread

    Thank you so much :)

  • And they say videogames aren't art....

  • I nearly flipped when i saw you made this! Yay!

  • @W00T110

    Thanks!

  • The Best review on this game on the net. Intelligent, comprehensive and the whole video is steeped in your passion for the game. Some really nice editing here too!!

  • @vanzetti7

I cannot tell you how pleased I am, in regards to your response. Thank you.

  • sorry to be a pain, again I must ask...

would you consider reviewing or analyzing Silent Hill 2? it's one of my all time favourite survival horror titles.

  • Yay finally another horror review! been too long :P

Truly makes me appreciate rebirth, sadly one fo the few Resident Evil's that were frightening, imo after remake, zero and CV, the franchise began to decline, focusing on action/gore rather than true horror and suspense. Capcom need to return to their roots!

yet again sublime commentary. loved the Sonata montage nearing the end reflecting back on piror events, that melody is hauntingly chilling.

  • @Nights06

    Thank you so much.

  • Great reviews! Keep it up, man.

  • Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gunfart

The considerably bad quality didn't bother you at all?

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker bad quality of what? it all seemed high quality to me.

  • @gunfart

    Thanks.

  • Excellent work! Best review I've seen on the Resident Evil Remake on Youtube, to be honest. It's evident you've spent a lot of time and effort on this, it really shows. =]

  • @YourLivingDolly

    Thank you!

  • Nice review, coherent and clear. Thanks. :)

  • @Yellowswift3

    You're welcome :)
