  • Man that's a sweet trans am! I find it hard to get one like that nowadays.

  • The front of that bird at 0:08 is just badass.

  • @ToArmsInDixie I feel its the nices front end on the trans am...then the 1970..then the 1977 bandit year....and its a great fun car to drive..like a race car the way it handle...on rails when you turn...alot to be said about that car..and compared to bigger hotrods like olds and chevelles..

  • that is one lucky kid.

  • we had 1 of these with the original factory 400 and 4 speed and my old man traded it for a GOD DAMN pick up truck!!!! A GOD DAMN PICK UP TRUCK!!!!!! I'm not pissed at him, God rest his soul, but I am still a little sick to my stomach.

  • looks great man i like the wheels they got a nice flair to em that you dont see on too many 2nd gens

  • bad ass...for sure

  • @SGJH22 why would you want to do that....79 front ends are fucking ugly...get ur self a 71 front end and do your car justice,

  • @CrazyForCooCooPuffs

I just watched 77-78 TA videos and then 79+ and I'm starting to think you're right. They are pretty ugly. 0_o The front end was too far ahead of its time to be on that body.

  • me love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,and drool!!!!

  • @SGJH22 no, a lot of modification would be needed to be done for that to happen. 2 headlights going to 4 with separate high beams. hood style different.

  • thts a beautiful car torq thrust rims are a bit big imo 15s would look good or course the snowflake rims but still great car

  • @samus1003 thanks you!!.....i like the rims,, but i may try out the new 17 in snowflakes from yearone there very badass...

  • @hotroddug best rims for a t/a are the year one 17s.

  • I would trade my 2000 silverado z71 reg cab stepside for this anyday

  • Sharp car !

  • It's amazing, gold would not really work on any other car, but it just seems natural for the Trans Am.

  • I love the black, but this looks very very nice in gold...Good work =D

  • @ccg1171 well thanks!!!!

  • @hotroddug N/P man =)

    I have a 2002 35th Ann. Z28 Camaro..Its pretty quick..I made a quick vid of it =)

  • @ccg1171 I like it ...very nice...looks like you should hold on to tht one...

  • @hotroddug Thanx man..Its good for the summer thats it..& its a gas guzzler, Im sure you know about that?? Mi car is a 5.7 is your the 6.6??/

  • @ccg1171 yes it is...sucks the gas!!!..but well worth the fun....mines never been in the snow, had it four 15 years,,,becomes a baby to you...u just have to live with it...

  • @hotroddug how much would you say the mpg is, 10 mpg?

  • your car looks great im looking a nice wheel set up for my 79 and i think i found it

  • @ClefDeDavid88

    Thanks....many years of hard work..

  • You people need to stop calling these Trans Am Bandits. Unless it's a '77 SE Black with gold trim, black leather interior and a CB radio it's not a Bandit

  • @81TransAmJunkie

Well, Im mostly with you, but after the Movie he cars were being sold as SE Bandit Editions, with the highest sales ever in 1979 of 80,000 units...this one happens to be one of 250 made with SE solor gold..and the same pinstriping that folowed the movie minus T tops...This is information givin by the Bandit Club..Not me..all and all Dosn't matter to me there all awesome!!!!!!...

  • are thouse 16 or 17 inch rims? please email me the size

  • @chevellenut1968

    these are 17" bye 8"...

  • @hotroddug thanks for the info i allredy have 3 16x8 but i guis i can run 16x8 rear and 17x7 in front and use a larger profile tire in the rear that should suit the car well

  • what is that in the back seat?!

  • @rawnie79

    My Son!!!...lol

  • his first sorry btw it was a 1969 ford f150 then he got the 93 buick park. today we have a 2005 buick

  • My dad told me he got this first trans Am in 1973 and had it till 1990. he gave it to a freand for a 1969 something idk what it was had that till 1995 then got a 93 buick lol

  • 31 yearsold and still looking Badass!

  • Check out BIRD PROJECT for video of 74 Bird

  • 79s are my second favorite. nothing beats 77s or 78s but still a stunning car :)

  • Beautiful.

These cars ruled the streets in their day and yours still does, obviously.

    Very nice.

  • I want one D:

  • I think im going to update this picture in HD....

  • @hotroddug Go for it. I look at the contrasts of everything I've shot before and after HD and there's simply no comparison. At the time though the pre-HD stuff looked great but technology marches on. Best wishes.

  • no shit , i had two stolen from me, the 1st was a 77w/400 pont. motor back in 93 and the 2nd was a 1971 gto 455 motor w/ a 4 speed back in 99. both were recovered within a week unharmed. joyriding i guess. i feel lucky for that. if you own one , keep your eyes on it always.

  • See you young buck's!,..if you get one, learn from wht we say...or it will be gone!!!!!....another story, I sold a car to a guy in 1989..told the guy this will be a hot car one day, it was only a 1979 lemanse...but...I said keep your eyes on it or it will be gone...stolen from him in a week...! thts the trend...so boys keep an eye on your new GTOs and Impalas..or eles!

  • @l82corvette: Amen to that.

  • Sorry to say, all the people I know who had one when i first got this one in 1991. Had there stolen, bye being away from it for a meal or somthing..it was a car not to take your eyes off of!!!!...I hate thief's...

  • What kind of wheels, size, etc? I'm getting ideas for mine

  • ive heard 17's all the way around are just perfect.

  • Sweet ride, wanna sell???

  • its really cool.

  • i love how the front end looks on those things

  • are those 17 or 18s you have on it? either way looks great

  • beautiful car can't beat a TA anyday!!

  • words of wisdom. =)

  • lol the 79 is ok but the front end on that thing looks horibble

  • it doesnt look bad. 79-81 firebirds looked that way. mines a 79 and i think it looks great.

  • Well I'm sorry but that is my opinion. sorry if I pissed you off

  • thats cool, u didnt piss me off. everyone has the right to their own opinion.

  • I agree.

That's why i'm putting the '78 bumpers and everything on mine

  • Hey , hotroddug.. what size are the tires? I have a set of 17x9 wheels on the way for my T/A and would like to get the tire size you used so I don't have any complications with the tires contacting anything . Thanks!! Good looking car by the way..

  • Its in storage, ill check for you..Its been a while. but they work great and no rubbing at all...I had others that just were a pain in the^%$# so Im sure youl be happy when i get it to you..

  • I always liked the gold cars.I still remember a brand new 79 Gold Edition coming up on me on the highway.Burned into my memory.

  • That was me!...lol

  • You'll have grown up by then, and want a real car.

There are reasons we don't drive things like this anymore - because its all horsepower, all noise and they aren't even fast.

Even a new one can only manage 150MPH! The old ones are like donkeys.

  • Well what do you own, loser...because for one thing I would buy this one 10 more times becuse its one of the best cars in the world...and i own 3 super cars and you have no idea what your talking about!....you think 150 mph isnt fast...yahh right...my other car does 180mph and it still doesnt go off the line like this also its furturistic styling. And I also own A Buick Stage One..that Can blow away a Lambo...What do you own?

  • he probably has like a ford focus or a prius lol. trans ams are probably one of the best cars ever made.

  • And I think there still pretty modern, the size is long but not large. Its fast and can run on E85 if you want to mod it...

  • fuck you prick, what you rollin in, a civic?

  • Fuck you, muscle ftw not chavvy shit hondas

  • Shut the fuck up baby dick. Only pencil neck cunts drive Hondas and Toyotas. Grow some balls and get a real fuckin' car.

  • Unseen, but not unheard with the requisite fartcan exhaust on your stupid Civic . . . not to mention slow unless you go with forced induction and an aggressive (read impractical) set of gears.

  • I don't drive a Civic shitbag - read the post.

If I had to chose being unseen or looking a twat, I'd go unseen (Civic)

  • Yes, because a Civic is the only alternative in the world. I was saying it was a horrible choice, not that you were unfortunate enough to own a Honda in real life. Read the post - "your" was just as hypothetical as being forced to choose one or the other. FWD FTL There's nothing quite like transferring weight away from the driven wheels under acceleration and then overburdening them under braking and cornering loads.

Should there be a comma after "Civic" in your last post, karaloca?

  • Didn't know it was a lesson in English. When writing on YouTube I tend to drop detail as 500 characters isn't always enough. But if we want lessons then maybe you could've just put a comma rather than ". . . " you also don't need the comma before the word "but". Thats without looking too hard.

  • I only mention that because it changes the meaning of what you were saying. The way you had written it made it appear that you were referring to the Civic in a negative way. A comma would have directed the word at me. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. Instead, you went and just showed that you didn't understand what I was getting at. If I wanted to randomly nitpick your grammar, your last comment has more than enough to errors to choose from.

  • sweet ride, well kept

  • Thank you!...I fell in luv with this car a long time ago, and I had it for 15 years...and it looks better then ever....and I drive it all the time...and beat it to the road,,,and know probs...when you find that car you like buy it!....it feels good to see this car every chance i get to glance at ti.....

  • Sweet ass ride.

  • dude what rims r them

  • hey, how did you restore your taillights? did you buy used one's & painted them? just wondering thnx

  • Well this car has little body work!..and the taillights are original...so no need to do anything....but after some time the black tint paint will wear and need to be repainted...I would like to see your TA sometime!

  • my TA's on my page. you think if i go with 15's in the front & 17's in the rear, i'll be alright? im running 15x8's all around, 255/60/15 front 295/60/15. I'm just worried about tire clearance

  • Im running 17'S all away around the car. so you should be fine!!1....just worrie about offset so that the wheels dont rub in back also!

  • ok gotcha btw what kind of suspension are you running on your car? srry about all the questions lol

  • Those cars can get squirrely...So I ran traction bars that are the old lakewood style that bolt to the leaf spring bolts also air shocks to control the sway to power ratio. It really sinks the tires down. Good luck!

  • why not! have a welder?, you can put in what ever

    you want.

  • what kinda engine you got in there? 403?

  • 403 it is, with a little bore work

and camed to the max! also a few other things

  • hey i heard you can put a 468 stroker engine into a 79 T/A is this true?

  • what are the specs on those wheels?

  • great car man! gold is an excellent color for the 79! i was considering torque thrust II's for my own 79 which currently rolls on '77 snowflakes. by the way the 403 olds is an awsome motor. reving high is suicide, but it has much thicker cylinder walls then a pontiac 400 and can easily be built to handle tonnes of torque. i have a rebuilt 403 in my 79 Trans am with 500ftlbs that hauls ass and peels tires everyday of the summer. see my video. "ron's 79 trans am"

  • What wheels are these? They look awesome!

  • They are called torque thrust 2s, mine are 17"

rims and I like the way they look. You might be able to fit taller ones but they might look goofy.

  • But need to take it to the track to really know.

also built it for my future paxton super charger

trust me it will get up and go! also posi traction bar

sink those tires down so hard. Future video to come soon.

  • I had a 79 non emission w a 4speed 4wheel disk and a 400.that was a fun car, turning radius was unbelievable for a fairly long car. I will say this I always beat the 403,always.these cars were heavy and soo much fun to drive with posi! really could turn with the throttle,to tighten or butter out on the straight. fun fun sled

  • Well,I have taken all emisions off the car. done the bore and stroke thing, max out the cam lift

  • 403 cars were fitted with 2.73 gears where as I bet you had a 3.23 as most 400 cars had. About 94,000 of the 109,000 TAs made in 79 had the 403 Olds. Highest production year 1979. 403 is an underrated motor.

  • do u have a cardomain page?? That is 1 bad T/A!!

  • I have some pics in the video catogory at hotrodnews dot net, keep in touch.

  • The only engine they used in the firebirds that i thought wsa gay was the 301>?>

  • ih8japsscraps you wish you had a olds 403, it still is a sweet ride with the 403..I got one. and Japan has some nice shit too, hater.

  • Looks like the American Racing Torq- Thrust II rims. ih8japsscraps, I don't think you've even SEEN an Olds 403 lol

  • ahh the olds 403 is a nice engine but doesnt compare to the pontiac 400

  • nice ride, i hope thats the pontiac 400 and not the garbage olds 403 lol, nice ride just the same
