Vanguard was and is in my opinion the best PVE game to date. Huge world, great crafting. The list never ends. But bad management killed the payers interest, so it fell short. There are few to none games on the horizon that will attempt this kind of immersion.
I don't play it atm since SOE is slowly killing it.
even though i think most of the points you raise are not the main reason alot of these games are boring and have flopped it is all true. I had my hopes set on warhammer online and all i got was a dull world with poor pve, repetitive scenario grind, unbalanced classes with no intention to fix, on rails theme park with no complexity.
Very good. Bored of being sold "potential" but that seems to be the only thing most of those games offer. If the rule is jam tomorrow then I'll pay tomorrow.
Speaking on MMO's. Anybody know of a new one thats coming out , that also looks good and might have a chance of getting into cb ? I am poor and need something to do. lol
Very nice. MMORPGs recently have been very disappointing it seems. Warhammer Online is the last game I'll be burned on I think. At this point I'm done with them. If developers can't be bothered to put out a complete and interesting product (as in no bugs, it being stable, etc) then I can't be bothered to spend my money on it.
On the horizon of MMO's that look and sound promising and to bring new ideas/play styles to the table are SWtoR, and World of Darkness Online.

i have high hopes on Arenanet and NCsoft, they made Guildwars which i think is much more strategic than any other game out there.
so i hope they make really really great mmorpgs in the future.

Yeah all true. I'm not buying any more mmorpgs until they get their act together and make something worth playing.
