Left Of Self-Centered was the last time Butch was the rockin' Butch. Butch is still one of the most talented guys ever, he evolved to Hipster and I'm still a rocker. The skinny jeans, vests, and dumb hats is a generic music style that is already dead like rock seems to be. No he evolved into Panic At The Disco which is dogshit.

As for LETTERS, i saw him play it live and acoustic twice about a year before the CD was even out. So YES I have heard LETTERS.

Butch Walker has a song called "My Way" that sort of addresses this issue. Southgang had all of the tools to be huge also. Record companies are a strange animal in how the select their talent.
My answer to your question is they were never huge because they didn't call their band Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or something like that.
It vever fails the best talents always go unnoticed by all but a few.
